As if enough people haven't said it ... the look of this thing guarentees failure, broken bits, sloppy work. I have the Bosch one - and it is remarkably useful. For a few dollars more than this you can get one of the name brands like the DeWalt referenced earlier in the comments. Wasting money on bad tools is like wasting money on a bad woman.

I've had a couple of these in the past. The drill bits are garbage. They break on the 2nd use - if your lucky. This is a great idea, but if it's not very good quality - you're wasting your money.

So is this where the Amazon ties come in?
Amazon buys a container of these things, finds out through reviews, returns, low sales etc. that they have a lemon, ..."yo Woot".

Dewalt makes a similar product that has great reviews on Amazon. It costs more, but sometimes you get what you pay for. I never skimp on tools, because good tools will last forever. Cheap tool will make you very frustrated when they don't perform well or break.

The usable version of this tool is the Lyropa Tool Corp 1000 (http://lyropatool.com/).

The Half Time on offer is not worth it even for the bits... soft steel poorly made.

This looks like a better product: http://www.amazon.com/DEWALT-DW2735P-Drill-Drive-12-Piece/dp/B000051WR8/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1325581849&sr=8-2
Same concept, only made by DeWalt. C'mon, Woot- give us this guy on sale!

Who needs 16 unbreakable screwdriver bits? What it SHOULD come with is 16 drill bits, since you have to replace broken ones (tiny bits break all the time) with identical ones. Screwdriver bits are standard. Why can't the drill bits be?

Your logic is flawed. You would probably be OK with paying $5 shipping on a $15 item, for a total of $20. This totals $8.99 with shipping. Who cares if your money goes to the item, or to shipping, when it all comes out of your wallet?

It was that way before Amazon bought Woot. Woot has always sold products that aren't selling well elsewhere. That's what the site is all about.

Skimp on the price of your tools and make up for it at the Dr's office (and then some!)

On Amazon it says "Sold by thinkTOYS!" that may be a strong indication of this product's quality.

I read this review on amazon and I'm glad I did before I bought it. There are more if you look on amazon.

I have been a professional woodworker for over 40 years and this has got to be the worst tool I have ever ordered. This particular driver I received the set screws were terrible the the part that goes into the chuck kept coming out
When I would do a pilot hole the the drill would come out of the pilot.
then when I would screw a screw the whole thing would be so shaky I just quit using it.

Not really useful most of the time because it lacks a handle on the driver grip end. All they need is a plastic snap on grip and this would be far more useful. After all, most of the time you just need to drive in or out screws by hand like a conventional screwdriver...

I was so excited to see this and at a great price. After reading the reviews I'm certainly not wasting my time. I'd almost spend my money on the Dewalt branded one here http://www.amazon.com/DEWALT-DW2702-Drill-Drive-Complete/dp/B000HNHI2I/ref=pd_sim_hi_8 as I trust the name.

Ah well, last thing I need is another cheap ass screw.

I got one of these as a gift for Christmas.

1. It's pretty long, so don't expect to get into tight spaces with it.
2. It works, but as other comments have already noted, it is a little wobbly and not precise.
3. The brass (colored) pivot bolt came loose on me.
4. I much prefer my Craftsman Set - similar to http://www.craftsman.com/shc/s/p_10155_12602_00964074000P?keyword=drill+bit+set&prdNo=11

As someone that uses tools everyday, (maintenance supervisor) I wouldn't take this if they gave it away! All I had to see was the open frame and knew it was a POS. there are dozens of quick change bits and quick change chucks out there, some good some great and well this thing.

Secondly, there is seldom any need to "flip" bits every single fastener, don't get me wrong, quick change for different bits is great and I use this all the time, going from driving to drilling, just not every hole, it is most often drill ten pilot holes then put in the screws, not drill then screw, drill, screw...well you get it.

Also drill bits with the quick change hex end are seldom the quality of standard drill bits, so at best the time saving is a trade off, but for jobs that are not real demanding in terms of tough materials quick change works great!

Sorry Woot, but do yourself a favor and pass on this!

I bought the same type drill set at Home Depot made by a little known manufacturer named Makita. More expensive, but 10 years later everything still works perfect (OK, I admit that the bits have dulled and some have broken over the years). But the dual-bit quick changeout tool will probably be passed on to my grandkids.

Some cheapie tools work fine (See Harbor Freight) but not this type. Spend more money and enjoy the tool the rest of your life.

Clunky as it may be, it is worth the price for all the bits as I am in for 3. Should be great for light around the home chores such as hanging objects, pre drilling for stud location then a quick flip of the bit.

I did the unthinkable...I bought two without reading the reviews! I don't know what I was thinking, but to be fair, it IS 4:40 am and this whole new year thing has me confused too. I thought buying two half-timers would give me a full-timer.
After reading the comments here I immediately asked to have the order canceled. I got lucky last time, let's see if they do it again.
Thanks, fellow Wooters, for keeping me on the path to higher quality crap.

4 out of 5 on Amazon reviews give it 1 star and the 5th gave it 2 stars. The wood professional says it is shaky and the drill bit keeps falling out as you drill holes.... Good idea but HORRIBLY executed....

I'll throw Ryobi into the mix as a company making a similar product. My issue with the Ryboi was that the locking mech for the larger piece seemed to jam every so often.

For folks saying the countersink bits are worth the price, you're better off with these for the price. I used these bits building a 30 foot walkway, and since they're hex, switching between them and a driving bit was a piece of cake in the impact driver.

Forget all the slotted bits as part of the equation - anything I've seen using a straight-blade screw is not anything I'd use a power driver on.

Phillips bits? They're a dime a dozen.

Yeah, pass on this one.

All my quality posts have been about vacuums...does that mean I suck?

Yes, KOBALT makes the same sort of screwdriver; it's called the "Double-Drive" and is available at Lowe's. We have one, and although I haven't used it for very long (just a couple of weeks on a project or two), it seems decently-constructed.
