You DO get two of each of the bits.... and would you WANT two of this driver? May be better to say "Thank you, Woot!"

Based on the reviews, I'd be more inclined to spend a few extra dollars and get a quick change bit system from Craftsman or Ryobi..

It's a shame too, because this is a great idea at a terrific price... Just poorly executed if the reviews are to be believed...

Just really damn lucky: Random Crap: 2/15/08, 2/19/09, 12/25/09, 4/1/10, 12/1/10, 12/25/10, 4/1/11, 5/11/11, 9/14/11, 10/12/11, 12/25/11

It depends on what you would use this for. I think for the average user, it's not a great tool. It's too long and doesn't have enough flexibility in drill bit size (you only get two sizes). However for something like installing fence slats, this can be handy, as long as your screws aren't too long. The included drill bits for pre-drilling aren't very long (see woot pic).

I was going to buy this until I read the reviews on Amazon. I don't like the fact that the bits are secured only by compression tightening of a collar, which can easily loosen.

I also wish it would come with more drill type bits and less screwdriver type bits. Everyone has tons of screwdriver type bits around from other kits and we don't need more. What I need is more drill type bits.

Maybe the ones that don't sell will end up in future Bags of Carp.

I've used smaller, similar devices and they work as advertised for jobs where you are countersinking and drilling over and over. They are more usefull for jobs where you are doing one hole at a time. This is really intended for when you don't take the time to clamp your pieces together and drill all your holes, then drive all your screws.

Also, I would be concerned with the fact that it is 7 inches long.

What's with Woot today? I click the "I want one" button, the page goes blank, and the little doily thing just spins and spins. I've tried three times now for the past hour and can't get in.

This tool is a POS. Not worthy of owning for any reason unless you enjoy frustration. I have been a carpenter for 36 years and this is one of the most pathetic tools I have ever used. Good idea but it is just a cheap attempt at filling the bill. Bits loosen, tool wobbles, drill sticks and pulls out. Can not use this with an impact driver. Purchase a Dewalt Flip Drive, Millwaukee, Bosch or Ryobe.

Soooo....this is for the person who thinks that changing the bits in a magnetic bit keeper is too much work. Something tells me that anyone that lazy does not engage in many projects involving a drill.

Unfortunately we do have one of these. Looks great in theory, but it doesn't lock when you flip it to the other bit so it wobbles and moves around. Love the concept, product does not live up to it.

Well it is a little bit wibbly wobbly but it doesn't save you any timey wimey. Maybe that's the issue- sonic screwdrivers don't work on wood. *That* must have been where I was going wrong!

Joshocom wrote:Yes, KOBALT makes the same sort of screwdriver; it's called the "Double-Drive" and is available at Lowe's. We have one, and although I haven't used it for very long (just a couple of weeks on a project or two), it seems decently-constructed.

This isn't comparable to the Double Drive. The Double Drive is the one that works kinda like a ratchet, and I'd buy that one at this price for sure. This thing....yeah, no.

All my quality posts have been about vacuums...does that mean I suck?

Sarzanini wrote:Sorry...not stable enough for any real work. My company positions and drives thousands of screws weekly (hex head and straight drive) and this driver, like many of the gimmicky drivers out there, simply are not robust enough for real work. But, don't take my word for it......visit a job site, I swear on my eagerly awaited Mr. Beer kit that not one professional tradesman (err, tradesperson if I am being PC) will have one of these.

I totally agree with you, however your quote made me laugh like crazy. I can't tell if this was intentional irony or not. You lambaste a gimmicky product in the first part of your post and then mention you just bought an equally gimmicky product in the second part.

If you've ever done any work where you drill a hole, then screw something together using that hole, these sort of things are great.

I had a drill/scree bit that could be flipped without messing with the drill and it was great. I say had because it vanished before I could install blinds in my new house. Fortunately I have two drills, which means I avoid switching bits, just have to swap drills.
