I'm assuming this isn't the good kind of biting.

Did anyone buy the ereader waterproof covers? I was thinking about getting one for my Mom, she reads in the tub and just got a Kindle. I'd love to know if they are a pain to use or not.

Morning peeps!

Things here are looking glorious but dangerous with the ice and such.

Also, the lights are flickering just often enough to make me worry I might not get through the day without some downtime.

That said, hey look, more woot-off!

I'm just hanging out, really.

g'morning all!

surprised that the previous conversation hasn't made it to the quotes page yet! though I suppose given the context, making y'all sound dirty would be like shooting fish in a barrel. or in this case, humping fish in a barrel?

Mostly to read snow reports, and because I accidentally kicked the cat while sleeping

Sometimes I forget that it's considered freakish not to follow any professional sports.

Kids are out playing in the snow. Probably hiking up the hill behind us to ride down. I suppose I should find my gear and join them. Orc's facing a tough decision since his grandma was moved to hospice today and it looks like everyone is trying to go see her, but we are snow bound an 1500 miles away on the opposite side of the country from everyone that is driving there...

It depends on where you live and who you associate with.

Everywhere that I've lived--New Mexico, Wyoming, Colorado, California and now Pennsylvania. Can't speak for Nebraska, since I was there a very brief time, but all the Nebraskans I know are very sports oriented.

Sure, there are few people who aren't slavish about it, but the vast majority of people follow sports and regard those who don't have the same interest as some sort of ignorant freak.

Story: Biden and Giants

Without the explanation, I had no idea why this would be considered newsworthy. Even with it, I'm nonplussed.

Sports are big money, human bloodlust (the desire to see men fighting) is still prominent. If it makes you feel better, I like watching sports more than my husband and I don't follow any professional teams nor do I really care to. I will follow the win-loss of the local universities a little.

I agree, the slip of which teams fans you are talking to is easy enough to make, especially when it's not that personally important to you. I think the comments on that article are absolutely ridiculous!

Is there something called a JIF that's like a JPG or something?

there is a GIF that's a picture file format. I pronounce it with the J sound. - if this is for work I would say it's most likely a GIF.

wiki says that JIF is a JPEG ending type.

I didn't even see it. I think it was before I got up, I don't know. I was looking up info on the web and saw the buy page open, but then Orc said he had tried to buy a bag and got right through only to be told they sold out.

I got crap!!!!

I had Rusty out with his friend.
Come home and was changing from dog clothes to normal people clothes.

The woot tracker crashed, so I figured it was crap.
Finally got woot to load and after a few server errors, got to the order processing page. Gave it 10 minutes and finally left the house.

Just got home and there it was!

Crap!

1st one since July.

Actually trying, or just pondering the idea hypothetically. Personally you don't strike me as a cluttered personality (ie happy with crap).

[s]I do not need this!
The free play area where we are having Ver3's party just posted today that they will be closed for cleaning during the party time on Saturday. I haven't gotten any RSVPs (which is normal for this area, most people don't RSVP until the kids are 7 or older) and would consider canceling the party because of the snow, but the only way I can contact the parents is through the school and as long as the University is closed they are too (part of the University). So I can't even call and get email addresses to cancel.

//why???[/s]

Yay! Social networking has prevailed, cleaning will be moved to another day with more forewarning!

hmmm apparently we can't strike through oh well that's what the S's mean

Checking in here. Been off and on around the sites but also in and out of the house on errands and lunch. More to do, but I think the delicious chocolate dessert that I could not resist has given me a tummy ache. Supposed to get a little warmer here in the next few days - still ok at midday in the early 70's, but when the sun goes down, it is chilly lately. Daughter in Seattle just emailed me with the weather situation therre -thought yesterday's storm was history! she is working from home again today. Lucky people to be able to do that, because when I had a job, we HAD to get in no matter what - sacrifice life, limb, auto - whatever. Then around midday, they would sometimes send us home. If you did not get in though, it came out of your vacation time. I so remember those hair-raising drives on sheer ice. EEEEEEK

A good day and a bad day:
Good day- F-i-l walked over 100 ft. with his walker today
- Got aproval to have time off in March to visit my daughter and soon to be granddaughter
- Got aproval to go to seminar I wanted to go to next Friday

Bad news- my truck is f***ked up

Good news- I had a mechanic from work look it up and it seems to be a bad engine control relay that is covered under recall and should be fixed for free.

So mostly a good day

In the end only kindness matters
