Joyner, southern cooking question. My dad (and as a result my sister and I) always ate pineapple upside down cake warm in a bowl with milk. I've never heard of anyone else doing this, have you?

I have seen people put milk on pound cake. Daughter2's boy friend crumbles cookies up in a glass of milk. My Dad, Granddad and FIL crumbled corn bread in milk. Sounds good but I've never seen it. Did your Mom make the Pineapple Upside Down cake in a cast iron skillet?

edit: Do you suppose he used milk because he didn't have whipped cream?

A cast iron skillet is the only way to make pineapple upside down cake.

No, I'm sure whipped cream didn't enter into it at all.

My weekend plans consist of cleaning the yearly files out and getting the tax information together. Got the final info that I need today in the mail.

And there's some cleaning that really needs to be done, which may or may not happen.

so far, so good. pain-free sleeping - yay! still numb down the front of the shin and the top of my left foot (another side-effect of the nerve bundle impingement), but that may not go away. Haven't done any long walks yet, but mebbe today. Or I can just wait and see how it goes at work on Mon!

Taking a personal day to go shopping with a friend out of town. Lots of changes coming soon again. Starting to have change anxiety, so I hope I can stay excited about new opportunities instead of worrying about how much they'll mess up the status quo. Because in all honesty the status quo isn't that great either.
