Anyone have anything to say regarding the quality/durability/overall experience with refurbished Dyson products? I am looking for a vac and would like to know what I would be getting myself into buying a refurb Dyson.

Thanks!

Ok, it says "multi-floor" and it has "stair tools" but does it climb the stairs or do I have to lug the thing up the stairs myself?

It will climb along behind you as long as you're holding on to it.

Is this the first time a Dyson has been offered on woot?

Does the front detach so I can use it to vacuum under a bed? Is that what the telescoping wand is?

With so many Dyson Refurbs available, I'm wondering if they have quality issues overall or exceptional 'customer is always right just send it to us for an immediate replacement' service?

I'm hoping it's the good customer service but I'd love to hear your opinions on the subject.

Ah, a high-end cat annoying device. It looks good, but what size cat is it rated up to? I have some friends with very fat cats, and I want to make sure that I get the proper calibur vacuum.

I bought one of these Dysons on woot a while back. Best vacuum I ever used. Will suck the chrome off a bumper hitch.

We've had a refurbed DC25 Animal for two years purchased from Overstock.com and it is still running great.

Just a quick note on refurbs from Dyson and Woot!, Got one for my grandmother since her 40 yr old I think vac died and she loves it, easy to use (light weight) and hasn't has an issue yet, she is pretty obsessed with cleaning so I imagine it sees pretty decent use, wouldn't hesitate to buy another if needed.

Yes. Yes you do. I have a DC23 and it is amazing and I am considering getting this for my parents. You can get yourself a nice knife set from BB&B for the $350 while you are at it.

I bought a Dyson refurb here on Woot a few years ago and have had no problems with it whatsoever. I have three dogs (did have four until a couple months ago) and believe me, it gets a work out! I'm thinking about buying this one just as a backup...I won't ever be without a Dyson again!

I bought a (refurb) Dyson DC14 (full kit) back in late '08, and have not regretted it once. It came looking brand new, and was missing the hose. I immediately called Dyson support, they mailed me one free of charge (though they were unfamiliar with woot!) and about a week later I was in business. I have been wanting one to use at my office, and I think this might be it...the price is certainly right - I paid $240 for the DC14.

I think people either love a Dyson or hate it. I think there are lots of refurbs due to buyer's remorse? Ours looked positively new, not a scratch, as if it had never been used.

Oh yeah - we have always had an assortment of dogs and cats (lots of fur, and an old dusty house), currently one dog and two cats, and the Dyson we have is the best vacuum we have so far owned. I agree with hippielady - I don't ever want to be without one!

Aren't there some dysons that roll/turn on a ball? How does this compare to those models?

This looks like one of those old DC-14, how could they still have one of those old-tech models relabeled as a DC-33?

Does anyone know if you can turn off the brush bar and just use plain 'ol suction? I have hardwood floors and want a vacuum that I can turn off the brush bar to keep it from spinning and scratching up my wood floors.

Yes you can turn off the brush bar - there's a little knob you turn on the top of the vacuum head to stop the brush bar while cleaning hard surfaces.

I got the refurbished DC18 Slim back in July of 2008 and it's still kicking butt. Easily one of my best Woots ever.

The DC14 looks a little different. Mine is more white, and there's a place for a couple of the tools on top of the canister.

Yes you can turn the brush off.

I bought a refurbished Dyson back in 2006. It still works fine. The one caveat is that you have to clean the filter and manually clean the brush, meaning cutting away collected hair/fiber/nastiness. If you don't, then it just doesn't work very well. I keep waiting for mine to die so I can buy an Animal, but it keeps working.

This doesn't look as cool, but I do believe this will outperform the ball models.

I just got a dyson last night. I found it thrown away. Figured I could fix it for cheaper than buying one. Turns out, the only thing wrong with it wasone of the airways was just clogged. I got rid of the obstruction and it WORKS GREAT!!! I love my dyson. It's awesome.

I bought a DC25 in May and it's great. Not too long I guess but no problems so far.

Echoing others here...
The Refurbished DC14 we got from woot back in '07 for $259 is still working great.

This DC33 is even better deal.

You might want to get this kit for extra heads.

"refurbished" doesn't necessarily mean their was something wrong with it. Dyson doesn't come with any manuals, and some older folks can't even figure out how to put it together properly,so they return it without ever using it. Also many folks have buyers remorse.

The dc33 is supposed to have better suction power over the balls, and it has a longer cord.

Im seconding this quote. we might have bought on the same woot deal back in 2006. I have two dogs and a cat, and i still get compliments on how clean my house is...dyson is still going strong.

but ya, cutting away from the brush is small hassle, but hassle nonetheless.

I don't think you'll have any problems but nothing is written in stone. Also you get a 6 Month Dyson warranty.

It's a great vac, I bought the cannister refurb (own 2 others, older models and central vac which doesn't hold a candle to the dyson's power!) The refurb cannister was like brand new. It works and looks perfect.
