WHY YOU NO SELL PET HAIR VERSION?!?

Dyson must either sell WAY more vacuums than I imagin or have a ridiculous failure rate to support the frequency of refurb woots we've seen over the last year.

I have this model which is around a year old.
Works great except that the brush bar is a 'magnet' for any hair and has to be cleaned frequently. Also, I find that the wand mechanism is not flexible as other models when trying to vacuum furniture.

Have had a refurbished Dyson for 4+ years and had no problems except hose finally got a tear in it. Can order replacement for about $40-$50 but for now duct tape is working just fine.

This product SUCKS. The reason they are all refurbished is because the suction on unglued carpets causes them to make a hideous noise when it sucks them up. You must remove the rubber seal underneath to allow some air to escape and not allow total vacuum affect. However, the attachment wand is the worst design ever. It is a long hard plastic piece at the top which makes it very difficult to use in short areas including stairs. The spinning brushes don't get down enough to retrieve extra dirt within the carpet. It takes twice as much work to do what a Bissel does. My rating is a 4 out of 10 for an over rated machine. Pros are is that it's light to move around. Not worth the money even at Woot price.

My wife has gone through more vacuums than I would think possible. After making me get rid of my old canister vacuum (it was missing a wheel, big deal it still sucked really great!) she has since gone through numerous vacuums, most from Sears, they have including various Hoover models, a Bissell and some other brand. I am thinking this might be a good answer. We now have laminate flooring throughout most of the house but carpet in the bedrooms and various rugs about. This seems like overkill IMO, but I am sick of buying cheap vacuums only to replace them in a year. I’m in for one!

Awsome! The only thing, if you have girls with long hair, you have to cut it off the brush bar monthly. Other than that it is DA BOMB!!!!!!!

I got the Refurb Dyson "Animal" about a year ago, and have had no issues. Absolutely the best Woot purchase I've ever made.

This vacuum is crap. The hose sucks from one side of the blade and not from the center of the blade so you get poor performance on one side of the vacuum. Save your money.

I've got a long hair cat that sheds a pretty good amount and it gets embedded in the carpet - should I hold off for one of the Animal versions of the Dyson or will the Multi-Floors work ok?

Wife has wanted a Dyson for years. I can't afford $399.99 for a vacuum. But at $200, I can afford to be husband of the (new) year!

I have to wonder if this will come preloaded with hair, dirt and debris in the canister like a certain "NEW" roomba I bought (and promptly returned when it had other issues than being used and sold as new) a while back...

A lot of Dysons have appeared on Woot the past few years, forcing me to consider getting one. Ultimately decided that for the money of a refurbished Dyson, you could get a brand new Shark, and that is one outstanding vaccum. What's the Shark? Think: What if a company mimicked the Dyson design, but didn't overcharge for it and build it so it looks like it came out of a B-movie Science Fiction set? That is the Shark.

If you are shopping for a vaccum, the refurbed Dysons I believe are fine machines, but also consider the Sharks.

In my experience, the cord retractor was the first part to break on every vacuum I've ever owned. More trouble than they're worth, in my opinion.

Ignore all the Dyson haters. I bought a refurbed Dyson ball vac a few years ago and I still love the dang thing. Light, powerful, easy to use and maintain. I don't know anything about this model, but Dyson get my endorsement.

So can you purchase those from the link where it has shown how many dysons have been offered in the past? Also if it is missing anything since its a refurb does dyson send the parts? Any warranty. Ive went thru 3 vacs in 4 years its ridiculous how much they cost. Last one was a hoover windtunnel. COMPLETE garbage didnt last 6 months. I am the only one who uses it. I only have a cat. I am a clean freak. I clean machine and filters always. Im waiting to hear back to see if they will cover it. The hoover always ran hot and just took a dump. 160 bucks. So I really like this dyson Ive played with the display at hd. It is over 300 there. I really like the animal. But not sure what the heck the difference is. So I had seen some other dysons on the link the person posted. Not sure if you can still get in on those deals or not. SOMEONE HELP ME!

HEY! I wasn't KNOCKING OLD PEOPLE!

I was stating MY EXPERIENCE! My mother in law is 65, ordered the dc25 and returned it because she couldn't figure out how to put it together. My 82 year old grandmother ordered a dyson, and upon first use it was making a horrible thumping noise. She was going to return it. I went over to her house and quickly found the filter in the ball wasn't locked into place. One push down on the filter and thumping noise was fixed. If I hadn't, it would have been returned as well.

I wasn't knocking old people! I'm not some young person either! I just simply sharing my experience and the reasons why many dysons are "refurbished".!!!

My grandmother let me try her dc25, a ball vacuum. I was so excited, brought the dc25 to my house and went to work. I can't say there was that much difference between her brand new dyson, and my bissell lift off. The ball was easier to maneuver under the dining table, but the Dysons dirt bin was WAAY smaller than my Bissell bin, and I was emptying it every 5 minutes. I didn't see enough difference between my 80 dollar bissell and her 500 dollar Dyson.

I had a bissell clean view. It gave up shorter then I expected it too. I also own the bissell steam mop. the pads were worn out so quick. I think Bissell was much better a few years ago then now. Because seems like we have become such a replaceable society. That companies are charging from the arm to the leg for products. But they only last a few years at best. SO sad. But I had the cheapest bissell you could find one of the first bagless ones. Paid 40 bucks for it. I regret the day I let my brother use it. He never brought it back. It was the best vac Ive ever owned!

Back in early November '11 woot had the DC14 for $179. I jumped on that one and it's been an excellent machine for my apartment(big area rugs in a mostly wood floor apartment).
This one looks like another excellent entry-level priced Dyson. If I hadn't bought the DC14 I'd jump on this DC33 model.
For those of you interested in how they rank I dug up this article(and website) which has pretty detailed comparative specs and avg. prices between multiple Dyson models.

No joke, I've been using and abusing my Bissell lift off since before Thanksgiving in the high hopes I could break it and get a Dyson for Christmas. I can't justify spending the money for a Dyson when I have a good working vacuum (HAHAHA!). I've been vacuuming my carpet on "bare floor" setting, I've been maxing out the dust bin, not cleaning filters, abusing it. I still can't get the darn thing to break.

I do want the dc33. I think it's better than the ball Dysons. It has a longer cord, it has a bigger motor, and it has a bigger dust bin. We're in a big house, with 4 dogs and 3 kids and 3 birds. I vacuum every other day and my Bissell is still working like day one.

I just think a lot of people get them thinking they will be some type of miracle vacuum, and when their expectations aren't matched they return them, hence so many refurbs.

Thankyou I am trying to get hubby to let me buy dang it. Also how long does it take to get it usually when You purchase? Ive never used woot or even heard about it. We use amazon always, got the email saying this was on sale. Because we have been looking thru amazon. I can choke spending 200 for a vac and if it isnt what it is cracked up to be. I wont bat an eye lash. But 500 I would have a heartattack

Don't EVER use a motorized beater brush on hardwood. Our Kenmore cannister vac has a switch that turns off the brush for hardwood. Also, we've been told by 3 different carpet stores that "using a Dyson on this carpet will void the warranty on the rug". Just FYI...

Pipanella wrote: our local carpet business says the beater bar can damage some types of carpet over time. He doesn't hate them, but he doesn't love them either. We've never seen damage issues on any of our carpet (so far). But we have had some scratching to our wood floors, so I don't use it on those.

EXCELLENT point! Refurbs mostly come from people who've returned things without really putting much use on them. That should tell you that if a product or mfg has a lot of refurbs to sell, then a lot of people are returning them, for some reason. Dyson's design may be great. But for the same money you can get an excellent new vacuum from any of several makers. We're very happy with our Kenmore cannister vac. Our housecleaners say it's one of "their favorite vacuums". That counts for something, I think.

Does anyone actually own this model? I searched youtube for videos. I have a cat which has medium fur he sheds though. I have a short hair dog. A little army of kids. So I want to know how it really holds up especially with pet hair. The review said it picks it up but kind of moves it around a bit. Basically compare it to the animal ones. I like the ball but I think my kids would think it was a toy and just break it looking at it.

You should NEVER USE a motorized brush/beater bar on hardwood. Ever. It will scratch the floor. Period. And if you get something hard caught in the brush, it will scratch even faster.
