Also, as an update on mine: Nothing yet, today. Hopefully the FedEx CSR wasn't feeding me bull, and it'll be handed over to my PO tomorrow morning.

I'm surprised yours didn't arrive today. Ours were both on the truck last Wednesday. Hard to believe the weekend would come into play. I was just lucky this time. Smartpost is the worst shipping method available. With the number of shipments Woot sends out I'm sure they could make a deal with another carrier. Here's hoping packages show up for everyone waiting tomorrow.

boo, looks like I did get the dreaded HMJ37.-1.5.0018 build. How necessary is it to update to 3.2? Everything seems to be working fine and I'm about to go on a trip on Friday. I don't really have the time to deal with the rooting process right now. Just want to be able to put my videos on this thing and have access to wifi when I'm on my trip.

Honestly, it's not terribly necessary. There are a few minor fixes, but otherwise you'll be fine with the build you have. Just wait until you feel like following the instructions on the thriveforums.

Someone posted roughly the same a few pages back.

7:24am: Arrival at Post Office!

Amazing how the half-hour drive between our post offices took an extra week. :D

Wow! Well, it should go out today. There wasn't much time between arrival and out for delivery here.

It's here! I lucked out. Unit appears to be in perfect condition. Speakers work fine, correct cables, and a happy build. Updating to 3.2 now!

It's odd thinking that I ordered this two weeks ago.

Power cord is fine, but Wakko Talks Faboo! is the "Do not disconnect the AC power cord from the AC source!" warning on the cord supposed to mean???

Software is .0011. I'm kind of disappointed honestly, was looking forward to playing around with the engineering test apps before rooting. Anyone have an image of the .0018? :-D

Other than doing a more complete test of the GPS, what else do I need to test?

I heard back from Woot Member Services today. They said that they will ship the proper power adapter when they get some in and they have no idea when that will be.

At this rate, the warranty will expire before I can even find out if my Thrive works.

I have been checking this thread even after I rec'd my Thrive waiting to see when you got yours. You really have been quite patient during this whole shipping deal and I am thrilled that you got a working tablet worth waiting for.

You know, I completely forgot it was supposed to come with a USB cable! Time to send an email to support, but at least it isn't as if I need the cable to use it.

Thanks for rooting for me, everyone!

fishbulb42 wrote:Got mine from the last Woot sale, absolutely thrilled with it. My netbook had died about two days beforehand and I was in need of a quick replacement. I was fortunate enough to have one of the ones with no physical defects out of the box, and despite having the nonstandard ROM, successfully updated to .32. This resolved a problem some people might have out of the box where it has trouble recovering from sleep mode. Was content to leave it alone there, but then discovered that it doesn't understand NTFS drives, and Toshiba's advice is to reformat your drives - not practical on one holding a TB of content you don't have a place to offload.

So I rooted using dalepl's Easy Flash Tool from thriveforums.org and installed an app called USB Mass Storage Watcher. Mounts my NTFS drives with no problem. But then I discovered another problem, that my SD card slot allowed reading, but not writing. Dalepl to the rescue again with a modded ROM that restored this capability. The Thrive Rooting Tutorial for us Skippy Squirrel's! step-by-step gave me everything I needed to confidently go through flashing the custom ROM. (Many thanks to jdhchang for pointing me in the right direction.) There's even a special Woot Purchases thread there where developers are generously offering support for the specific problems people have had with the last batch.

Netflix works beautifully, I've been able to play pretty much any video file I want with Moboplayer, can browse my home network with ES File Explorer, read/write on SD works and the full USB support is fantastic. A hub has let me use a wired keyboard and mouse together on it when I have the need until I can get ahold of Bluetooth devices.

Hulu's restrictions on viewing in a browser seem to be a calculated maneuver to get you to use the Hulu Plus app for Android, which also requires you pay them monthly for a Hulu Plus account. I have one already, so this wasn't a big deal for me, until I discovered that the app only works on a handful of devices, and that doesn't include the Thrive. There's an app called Flash Video Browser that tricks Hulu into thinking you're on a desktop computer, though, and that's been working for me so far. There's discussions of modified Adobe Flash installations that have gotten people past these limitations as well.

If anyone has any questions about the particulars of the work I've done on it, I'd be happy to answer them.

Did anyone else have this problem?

It's not nearly as bad as it looks. The people who set up the tools and instructions have done the hard part, and if you follow the step-by-steps, everything should go smoothly. Watching bilgediver's YouTube videos linked from those pages improved my level of confidence significantly, since I could watch him do a step, then try it myself.

Ok, so this is my first posting on woot. I've been buying for a while and have never had an issue. Today, after waiting 15 days for delivery, my woot box arrived with what was supposed to be my thrive. Oh wait, does a thrive come with more than just the USER'S Manual! Somehow, either at Toshiba, Woot, Fed-Ex or Post office, the tablet and power/cables disappeared. Needless to say I had the postal worker take the box back as I refused receipt. Now I am waiting on email hell for someone to get back to me about the situation. I hope I don't have to punk woot by tell visa to pull payment. =(

There's a Netflix app in the Android Market. You can watch on the Thrive or on your TV using an HDMI cable from the Thrive to the TV.

Thanks!

Another question....what is the advantage to updating from the HMJ37.01.5.0018 version (I will be afraid to do it and mess up the tablet) and is it better to update to 3.1.01.5.0032 or up to 3.2? What's the differences? Thanks again.
