My kids love these things. They use them to keep their ipod touch's going on road trips.

I bought this last time, and I love it! Fully charges my depleted iPhone 4 battery, but you only get one device charge without having to recharge the charger, which takes about an hour.
These sell for between $19 and $28 at most retail stores - each.

I got these last time they were offered, they worked well for making my woot lights portable.

With 500mA output, it should work for older iPods and phones. Won't work with iPhones or other larger draw items.

It will work with my Sansa and Kindle so it might be worth it.

Will these keep me entertained for a trip to Rome with my iPhone?

Can someone please explain exactly how much of a charge it will give my iPhone?

I have these from a previous appearance here... they hold a charge a long time, and I like that you need only the one cable, whether you're charging the battery pack from USB or using the battery pack to charge your phone. Way better than other battery packs that have you digging for the right tip.

Man, I feel so behind the times. Woot is calling that ipod in the picture a collectors item....

...that's the same ipod I have at home.

Does anyone have tips for prolonging the life of these?

In other words, are there any known ways to maximize the number of times these can be used before they can no longer hold a charge?

Got these during the woot-off and gave one to my brother. I haven't cracked mine open yet but my brother says his is a Lifesaver. He always has it in his backpack in case he needs to power up anything with a usb drive (iPhone camera anything it's amazing)

I should really open and charge mine...who knows when my life will need saving.

These things are great for a day at the golf course. The carts don't have 12volt plugs and I use my phone a lot when golfing to track scores, drive distances etc.

The real question is...if I buy these can they charge each other? Like if one is dead and the other is charged can I connect them and let the teeter totter of energy begin? And if so, is there a list of states which allow same battery marriage?

So are we gonna kick it - Gonna kick it woot down - Gonna break it all down - Gonna kick it woot down!

Being Lithium-Ion (300-500 full charge/discharge cycles), these should last well beyond the 2012 Apocalypse!

I just used mine from an earlier woot to keep my cell phone (a venerable HTC/T-Mobile G2) going through a hectic work weekend while out in the boonies where the poor signal made it burn battery like mad. I definitely recommend these.

That said, there was a 3 amp hour unit on deals.woot.com earlier that might bear consideration as well, but that was bulkier, and costlier, and harder to recharge. Also Duracell though.

With 1800 mAh it should charge a completely dead iPhone back up to around 75-80% I would think (assuming you're not using the phone while it is charging).

Excellent road trip material. Probably good to keep in the backpack on hiking trips or geocaching to recharge a portable gps.

I look to the future because that's where I'm going to spend the rest of my life.

Got these last time. They charged my wife's iphone 4s during our day at Disneyland. Slow charge but good enough. We pointed and smiled at the people sitting next to an outlet charging their phones.

These remind me of the four (yes, FOUR) Black & Decker portable USB chargers I bought from Woot in... wow, April 2008. I just found them all in a box last week. Never used them once. *shrugs*

I picked these up last time they were on sellout.woot. I love them. They are lifesavers. I toss them in my hiking bag and use them as emergency chargers. They work great for my smart phone.

I have something similar to this, it also has a solar cell on it. I think I bought it for around $30, and I've used it twice.

The first time (the reason I bought it), I was on a very long bike ride. At a stop, my ipod ran out of battery, was able to hook it up and listen for the rest of the day.

The second time, I brought it to Meijer for their Thanksgiving day sale. Also brought my ipod, forgot to charge it, battery was dead. The backup battery was able to bring it back to life. Was handy because I was able to check amazon's price on a "sale" item they had using the store's own wifi. Turns out it wasn't a great deal.

Can this be plugged into a wall outlet using a phone USB adapter? It says computer USB, that makes it a no sale for traveling light.

do you need to buy the grid separately to charge the battery packs, or can you charge them through an outlet??

Here is a link to another brand that has the same capacity and it claims to charge a dead iPhone completely with some juice left over.

Use mine as an emergency in the car several times while I am out and about. They work great and even made good gifts to friends with them power hog Iphones.

One end has a standard USB plub and the other has a micro USB plug. It comes with a very short USB to micro USB cable that you use to charge it or connect it to something with a micro USB connector. The USB side is the output and the micro USB side is the input.
