I'm a little amused by all the people saying they have trouble figuring out how to open the mug for drinking. I have no trouble, and I'm a complete klutz!

When you screw the lid all the way on (can't turn it any farther), it's closed and nothing will leak. When you unscrew it, do so until you hear the seal release, then go a little further. The top should now still be screwed in, but loose (as in, you can turn it back and forth a bit, but not pull it out). You may now drink from the mug. To re-close, simply screw tight again.

In for one. It's probably an average price but I've needed a new mug for awhile (so I don't have to juggle holding my coffee cup in the truck without burning myself or being covered in delicious coffee by the end of the trip) so this saves me a trip to Target or somewhere similar.

Bit closer to 125%, I think. Was math a definite pass for you as well?

Nothing new here:

** Absolutely spill proof. Just don't get the giant threads cross-threaded.

** Will keep the hot drinks hot, but not for hours and not in 6°F weather.

** Difficult to drink from, although with practice, this can be overcome, without slurping.

** I tend to spill the last 2 oz all down my shirt & neck as it sloshes out. Maybe you all are more coordinated.

** Fits in car cup holder.

** A good deal. Buy 3 if you are concerned about ratio of shipping cost to product cost. It lowers it dramatically.

I found the same problem with drinking "on the fly" while driving - the flow of liquid out of the lid just isn't enough. I just leave the lid on tight and hold out until I can get to work and control the jitters with the lid off.

I hate coffee and therefore don't have much use for these kind of mugs. I find the obsessive behavior of some people concerning their coffee to be a sign of humanity's downfall and a harbinger to the apocalypse. I'm also not big on hot coco.

Still, I always pick these mugs up at conferences and the like when they're given away. I'll sometimes put soda in 'em but my crazy hot-beverage-drinking family get good use out of them at least!

Okay, I bought two of these the last time Woot had them. Sorry, but they are not very good for the intended purpose of my purchase -- keeping coffee hot, or, at the very least, warm.

They keep their word in terms of being leak-proof, which is good, but tepid coffee is not.

I even "prepped" the mug by filling it with hot, hot water, letting it sit for a few minutes, dumping the water and adding the very hot coffee. Less than two hours later, the coffee was luke warm, at best. Yuck.

Oh, and I live in South Florida, so it wasn't exposed to very cold weather. Buyer beware if your purchase is to keep liquids warm!

Great cup. When closed, will not spill. When open, coffee freely flows from the cup.

"cold rays"... as a science teacher, smh. There is no such thing has "cold." Cold is just the lack or absence of heat. Cold is your opinion based upon your observation of how much heat is actually lacking. There are no "cold rays" either. That would infer that heat is electromagnetic energy (i.e. visible light, x-rays, microwaves, etc.) Heat is thermal energy to to the motion of particles. Temperature, often confused with heat, is a measure of the average kinetic energy of the substance in question. The mug helps to maintain that substances current temperature, hot or cold, due to the insulation that is between the inner and outer cylinder (usually just air, but sometimes a poly-foam) Air (gas) is a good insulator due to the space between the particles and the less frequent collisions of gas particles that are needed to transfer kinetic (heat or thermal) energy. Calorimeters in science are often made with the same design.

We have two of these, bought at a much higher price at a hunting and fishing superstore. They are leakproof, but difficult to drink from. The coffee fows unevenly, either barely at all or the lid wobbles and you end up slurping the liquid. I found the heat was retained as well as my name-brand coffee-shop travel mugs, not like a traditional Stanley thermos. They fit in the cup holders on a newer Escape or Mariner, but not on an older Rav4.

I actually lean mine with the handle towards the keurig. Seems to work just fine.

As for keeping my coffee hot, I'd say 2 hours is the max it stays hot on a cold day.

Agree. Actually, I haven't seen a cup with plastic on the inside that works well.

I have a couple 16oz Bubba cups that work well... about $10 at Walmart and dozens of other places.

Disappointing. I will stick with my thrmos, but was hoping for on that worked nearly as well to be able to rotate them, or give as gifts.

My thermos mug keeps stuff hot or cold for hours.

Just to agree with some other comments:

  • Won't fit under the coffee maker
  • Easy to cross-thread so you don't have a seal
  • Not vacuum sealed = does not stay hot long

Seriously? Woot, you're killing me. I've been obsessively searching for a dishwasher safe 16 oz. travel mug with a handle that I could clip or hang on my laptop bag at work. I've been searching for months. I finally gave up 2 days ago and bought a Sea To Summit Delta Insul Mug. I'm assuming the one I bought will do but just in case: is this really dishwasher safe? I found a few listed as "dishwasher safe" that when you found them in stores (REI) or on the manufacturer's website (Bed Bath & Beyond) said "hand wash only" on the bottom.

Reiterating that, I bought the 2-pack before, and was disappointed that it was plastic on the inside. Haven't used it as my wife is being a bit paranoid about plastic containers now.

Yesila wrote:If it takes you more than an hour to drink 16 oz of coffee, your doing it wrong.

Not really. I like to make my coffee to take to work in the morning when I am eating breakfast, not have to come back into the kitchen just to seperately make my coffee when I am ready to leave.

Then while I am driving I dont drink much coffee, so by the time I get to the office its more than an hour since I made the coffee, and with mugs like these , I would have 2/3 of a mug of cold coffee.

With my thermos double stainless mug, my coffee is still as hot when I get to work as it is when I made it.

I had been looking for a travel mug that didn't leak, was a reasonable size, and fit in a car cup holder. I bought two of these when they were offered about a month ago and have been very pleased. They don't leak. You can throw them filled in a bag, you can turn them upside down, they don't leak. The last travel mug you will ever need. My quest is over and yours can be, too.

I bought these the last time they were on here. I hate them!!!!!!!!!! The lid is awkward and it does leak. The little rubber seal in the lid that you have to take out when you clean is a pain in the butt to get back on. I really really hate them and they are now collecting dust.

BUY THIS MUG!!

I got a 2 pack of these a few woots ago and they are fantastic. They are actually spill proof, incredibly easy to clean and keep my coffee moderately warm for 4 hours. I'm not kidding - 4 hours.

For anyone who works construction or stuck behind a desk - these are the droids you're looking for!!

EDIT: I read some other reviews after I posted - I can't believe the negative feedback these are getting? I'm not sure if I just got a better batch or what? I can see peoples complaints with the screw top lid, but it is no different than a regular thermos sliding lid, half a turn then drink. I can't believe someone could cross thread that lid...

This mug doesn't say it's a vacuum mug, so probably isn't. Spend a few bucks more and buy a Contigo vacuum mug. They're the BEST. Sometimes on sale at Costco, or buy direct on line.

i did some research on other sites for their prices and reviews before buying here. so- wow, got TWO here from woot, with shipping, for less than one on other sites. (stanley charges 10. per, with 6.95 shipping).
by the way, stanley site sells replacement caps.
also by the way, someone mentioned to be sure you have the rubber o-ring/gasket.

thanks woot-my hubby is REAL glad we are getting rid of our crummy plastic ones with no handles and leaky tops!

I bought 2 during the last time they were offered. This is a good mug and will not spill with the lid sealed. My son and I compared his Klean Kanteen 16 oz thermos to this mug with fresh hot coffee poured in. After a few minutes the outside of the Stanley Mug was warm to the touch and the Klean Kantee was cool. Not exactly a scientific comparison but a good indication which would keep your drink warmer longer.

Purchased four of these last time they were on woot. Pretty decent quality, although I find it difficult to drink out of with the design of the lid. If I had been able to handle this mug prior to purchasing and was able to see the mechanics of the lid I would have passed on these. For reference I go through many coffee mugs and I am very picky, there are too many good ones to waste time on the bad. Plus I felt like It was going to spiull on me every time I took a sip...
