Could you be more specific and tell us How your iPod "sucks" so that we might better make an informed judgement? What model is it? Current generation?

So it's 1st generation, and AT&T... it's 64GB and it's Apple certified refurbished... this is a great deal!

$599 refurb from the apple store, and its sold out.

Woot is offering it at a fair price indeed.

Each Apple Certified Refurbished Product:
is fully tested (including full burn-in testing).
is refurbished with replacement parts for any defective modules identified in testing.
is put through a thorough cleaning process and inspection.
is repackaged (including appropriate manuals, cables, new boxes, etc.).
includes the operating software originally shipped with the unit and the custom software offered with that system.

All Apple Certified Refurbished Products are covered by Apple's One-Year Limited Warranty. For extended coverage, you have the option of purchasing the AppleCare Protection Plan with your Apple Certified Refurbished Product. The AppleCare Protection Plan extends the complimentary coverage on your Apple Certified Refurbished Product to up to three years of world-class support for Mac, and up to two years of world-class support for iPod, iPad, iPhone, and Apple TV.

golf4miami wrote:An Apple Re certify is definitely not the same thing. When Apple re certifies a product they replace anything that is wrong and give it a one year Apple warranty just like you were buying it brand new. Plus you can even add Apple Care to it if you want.

Head and shoulders above a normal refurb IMO

Pretty sure it's just 90 days; but, you can extend to 3 years with apple care for the same price as if it were a new model (which you should; I've already had my iPad 2 replaced once with a faulty backlight).

Scratch that: Looks like woot's refurbished models are selling with a full year. Nice!

Even the oldest iPad is less than 2 years old. So the chances are very good that the corresponding battery is less than "several years old" as well.

The one you noted is Wi-Fi only. This woot is the Wi-Fi + 3G version, which typically costs somewhat more.
