I sense bags of crap are like the Cast of Saturday Night Live through the years. You remember the cast of SNL fondly back in the day, but in the present, they all stink and are not funny. 5 years pass, and you remember the cast fondly that not 5 years earlier you hated and despised. That hatred is now on the current cast.

No one remembers the crap of old that was bad, they just remember the crap of old that was awesome.

I like the analogy, but it's not quite right. It's always been crappy, but it used to be more interesting crap. I have a list of everything I've ever gotten in my Bags, and assure you, it is true. It got less interesting, and more homogeneous over time. Really.

I agree and disagree with you. The last 6 months have seen more diversity then the year before that. 3-4 years ago, the diversity/bag was more, but there were less bags to fill.

I like all my craps from day 1 to now, although I do admit to missing the randomness of Woots past but like any good relationship, it takes work to keep the magic alive. I have faith that Woot will work wonders and that the craps will be reach new levels of craptacularness. I suspect they will get a lot funnier not necessarily more valuable.

My issue with Barrels of Crud#39;s lately is that they are all the same. While it's fun to get something awesome in the Barrels of Crud that isn't what bothers me.

It used to be that when I opened my box I didn't know what I was going to get. Whether it truly was crap or not wasn't as important as the fun of finding out!

Now all you have to do is read on here for ten seconds and you already know what you're going to get.. unless you're one of the lucky few that got something good.

It's kind of like going to a casino versus playing the lottery. With the casino you still know you're going to lose but you're going to have fun doing so. With the lottery you pretty much buy your ticket and throw it away.

Woot's Barrels of Crud#39;s seem to have evolved from being the Casino to being the Lottery. It's just not that much fun any more.

I always liked getting things that were broken or obvious returns. I got a Sansa filled with music. The broken stuff is a new game to see if I can fix it or repurpose it. The time I got the floppy drive was just plain funny.... I knew what it was on sight and wondered for about 5 min as to what basement closet they raided to fill our bags.... Good times.... The packaged stuff just doesn't have any spark.

Have some faith. ColonelCrap is on the job. Give Woot some time to re-glorify. It may not happen over night, it might not e this Barrels of Crud but give them the benefit of the doubt for at least a few Barrels of Crud.

Hello fellow wooters!

After mandatory 24 hours our quiet (on my side) while all the ranting, happy dancing and blues singing takes place I'm here to say "hi".

Happy to report that once again not empty-handed, though this BоC #XXII was one of the harder ones to get. To make long story short, I never saw a processing page and only found out that I was in luck after receiving a confirmation e-mail a few minutes into the next item...

In any case - welcome to all newcomers (and that includes ColonelCrap) and welcome back to the old timers! Let's keep our fingers crossed for the best hauls around!

I will be posting my SmartPost primer as it gets closer to the shipping date, but anyone who wants to start tracking NOW is welcome to read the said primer in the previous BоC thread. That means here!

And so, let the waiting begin!

I wish (and my wife dreads) it was anywhere near :/

It's way far from that. I've been wooting since 2005, so with even distribution it's not even 4 craps per year on average... However, considering that I didn't succeed in buying my first one for years, the actual rate is about 7 per year since the first score. With an average of one wootoff per month plus 3 yearly special events that would give us around 15 offerings per year (not considering a brief period of time when mini-craps were offered during happy hours). So, I guess I'm just below 50%, which sounds about right. I did score the past 3 in sequence, but there were looong dry runs (like missing 4-5 in a row) before...

I was pretty excited to have gotten a bag this time around because 1) it's been a while and 2) how unlikely my win was!

My boring story:
Wife and I went to the chiropractor with our son. I went first while she watched him in the waiting room. We traded off and while I was watching our little guy, my phone buzzes a new woot (WootWatcher app), check, Oh My Gookie!, it's the bag! But... my mobile browser has NEVER successfully loaded a Bag of Cuuuuuute! page, ALWAYS times out! ... use PocketCloud to remotely connect to my home PC from phone, clumsily navigate the 22 inch screen via my 4.3 inch phone, enter CC code, buy, wait, confirm, wait... receipt page?! WOOO!!!

And now 3) I'm double excited after having read about ColonelCrap from the last bag, the bags of old (weird random broken stuff) were awesome!

It's not too bad... in fact about average for BоC sales... This is actually something I can believe that is humanly possible. I can buy a woot in under 5 seconds if servers cooperate (and when you're lucky to be first one in the game they might as well). Click WANT ONE->click CVV field->CTRL+V,ENTER->quick scroll down with a mouse wheel->Stupidly large button. Done.

We've seen them begin selling in under 1 second... In fact we've seen them starting going with a negative timing... And to make things worse - we've even seen them start selling with some seriously negative time to first woot.

Don't ask me how - though I have a feeling there's some clock synchronization issues between different servers involved....

Good, bad or craptastic, I'm just thankful I got a Bag of Cuuuuuute!! After what seemed like a million error pages and clicking the stupid big button over and over, a confirmation email came my way. Whew.

And as far as the whole casino/lottery analogy- I felt pretty casino-like when I was fighting to get my order in. I think at least half the fun is just trying to score one.

Thanks in advance, Woot! I'm gonna love the crap I get!

I got laid off so I was home. Even then I was not prepared for it to come out that early. I was just finishing lunch and monitoring woot on my Galaxy WIFI when it started shaking. A notification? bet your ass! I ran toward my PC while fumbling the android thing pushing buy, waiting... Got lucky that the "info is correct" page loaded (barely, it loaded without the woot Green color and the links were blue like in the old-timy internet). I put the CCV code then more waiting, pushing the RLGB (Ridiculously Large Gold Button) and then...
Got stuck on that page just before the confirmation, that eventually takes you to your account. So close to a minute in it I went to my account manually, it took a while but I got there. But the bag was not listed, so I panicked and went to the PC where I had to tabs already running. Switched back and forth until I got to the "info is correct" page put the code clicked the RLGB and... server error
HELLLL!!!
Pressed back put the code clicked the RLGB and...
server error
Goodnight, everybody!!!!!
Pressed back put the code clicked the RLGB and...
server error
Thing got fuzzy after that. Don't know how many times I repeated but finally the last time it went back to the "info is correct" page and it had some red text at the top and I thought: W00T you did it to me again.
But then I realized the the red text didn't read the usual "this item is sold out". Instead, It read something about being already purchased in this account.
WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT?
Went to my account and there it was. The Galaxy came through for me. a woot got me a woot the week that my first woot died. I loved that thing.
So I'm here waiting to see if colonelwoot has funds for the huge check he just wrote with his mouth(or keyboard actually).
Expectations are high, and internet mobs are vicious so get ready.

Well this has been my 1st bag in a while . A long time matter of fact. It seems like we where not home or just did not make it threw.

I was home this time and did not have to be at work till 2:30 . I was just coming down stairs when i heard this damm alarm going off and it took a second before i knew it was coming from the new computer my daughter and I had built just a few days before .

I click on the screen and the buy pages was all ready loaded , took a few clicks to make it threw the server errors and thought i had not made the final step till i got that email.

Now we lived for the old bags of crap as you really never knew what might be in there and the only thing that was the same was you got a bag.

We got the box of strange parts , the 5 or more sansas (which maybe only 3 worked and you where lucky to get 1 usb cable).

we posted to youtube when we got one with a used roomba in it .

I hope after going back and reading the last few bags that it has a bit more of a surprize to them.

I guess I will still be on the hunt next time. But some of the fun will have gone out of it.

We ust love us some WOOT

Certainly lucky timing for me. I was counting on the 4-6pm EST window. I was literally back from a meeting not more that 90 seconds when I heard the crap-bell sound. I was so shocked I barely remembered how to use the internet.

Fortunately I planned ahead and was logged in, etc. I did the multiple browser thing, but I thought I came away no crappier, as one of the pages (which never loaded complete) has a URL of /order.aspx?error=true.

I figured, great, I entered something wrong, so I kept trying on the other browser windows. I went to my account page, but it was not listed, so I kept at it until the bag was gone and the next product was up.

Eventually one of the pages came back with the error message, order denied or already purchased. Ever hopeful, I went back to the account page, and lo and behold, it appeared at the top of the list. The email followed 10 minutes later.

No idea which browser window actually hit it as I never saw anything like a confirmation or even the "should just be a bit" page.

I'd been watching the woot-off hoping for some cheap MP3 players to come up. Didn't see any, but when the wooters.us fizz-bang went off, I opened a new tab to woot.com, waited to see the "I want one" button, clicked, waited for the next page to load, entered CVV, hit the golden button, and then the infeasibly large button.

Proposition!:

We come up with a date to reveal the contents our Bags of Cuuuute (Why are we calling it that?).

The reason I suggest this is that it's been mentioned that people are no longer satisfied with the mystery of what they'll receive once someone with a similarly sized package gets theirs. So, what if no one posted the size or weight of their box and we all agreed not to reveal the contents until after a majority of us should have them?

This would probably be a little tricky, but we could look to see who has the latest expected delivery date and choose that day for example.

I thought of this after the last time I snagged a bag and though I told myself not to look at the forums I ended up looking anyway and knew what I had coming.

Telling me what you guys think of this idea, if you have any changes to the plan, if you're in, or if it's just stupid XD

2) I think it's loaded up with some 80's hair bands. It is your responsibility to remove the music you don't want. If your children get a hold of it before that, I am not responsible for any life choices they make (with or without your approval).

3) If I ever publish a book, you will at least by the Kindle version.

Deal?

Jertyrael wrote:Proposition!:

I like it!

Ah, I wasn't the only person who got the white page and thought they weren't getting their crap? I'd already accepted my crapless fate when I got a surprise email confirmation. An emotional roller coaster!
