Googled it to see Apple's price, and actually found it on other deal sites for about 30 bucks cheaper, though I trust Woot more. Still, a great computer.

Anyone believing Mac and Apple is a product and company that's even remotely good is completely misguided. And that's putting it in a nice way. I don't care whether or not it's good business for Woot, they should know better.

apple = iMoverpriced
my computer has a 750w psu, 16gb ddr3, 4tb of storage, ati 5700 series, c690 ii case, phenom ii x6 1090T, at about $300 less than this refurb apple.

apple can keep their over price (usually out dated hardware).

There's malware, and trojans, which require some user intervention to work. But as far as self-spreading actual viruses, there are none for Mac OS X.

I use PC and Mac. For the money you can build a way faster and more reliable computer for cheaper price. Virus, trojans, adware, etc.. All that anybody can get, if you don't know what you are doing either Mac or PC.

Can I buy the floating, magical mouse separately? I have no need for an overpriced Unix box that I can't upgrade.

I never had anything Apple (due to the FoxCon slave labor issue) until my iPhone, but that works very well and I am interested in replacing my Dell (since it also comes from Chinese slave labor). I don't see any info about software other than the Lion OS.

Does this come with WORD or EXCEL or a MOVIE Maker? or anything other than text editor and launch pad?

I had Dell's or IBMs all my life but this last one has just been a box of poor operations for 3 years.

Yes, that's true if you are not a gamer. But, either you can run Linux, Mac OS, or Windows all at once. Yes, Mac can do this also, but with a virtual PC. Which is a emulator kind of like VMware.

You must have missed Steam for Mac.

Still, silly to waste a nice S-IPS LCD panel on an all-in-one. The rest of the system will be obsolete a decade before that panel is. Better to build your own and buy the nice panel independently. Even a little cheaper... Just have to "deal" with there being an extra box on your desk.

Macs come with tons of pre-installed stuff (and not the yucky kind of pre-installed stuff - the useful kind). As far as movie stuff goes, you'll get iMovie and iDVD.

Here's a little more info:
http://www.apple.com/imac/built-in-apps.html

However, there is no MS Office stuff pre-installed (nor any equivalent). That would be a separate expense.

No, it doesn't come with Office. It might come with an Office trial version, which I don't think counts because it expires in like a month and then you have to pay for it anyway.

It does come with iMovie, which is a pretty well known movie editor.

OK, nice try, but can you please dig up something newer than half a decade old, and that actually spreads itself in the wild, and not through something like OpenOffice that like 3 Mac users use? Sophos themselves ridiculed that "virus" in their security blog:

"BadBunny is at the opposite end of the scale, a completely pointless proof of concept that had no real possibility of seriously affecting anyone."
http://nakedsecurity.sophos.com/2007/05/25/pirates-bunnies-and-worms/

Garand70 wrote:OSX.Leap.A

From 2006? Are you kidding me? Even the guy above found a newer virus than that. Symantec said:
Wild Level: Low
Number of Infections: 0 - 49
Number of Sites: 0 - 2

Two sites? Wow, that really shows that Mac viruses are just as likely and damaging as Windows viruses. Come on!

No wonder the fanboys think that IPads are reasonably priced. They're used to the insane markup on the logo and the tablet itself is actually competitively priced once we factor this in.
