Yep...Skype works very well, with audio and video...

Bought my 32gb Iconia more than a year ago and with daily use it is holding up really well.

You've pointed out the only drawback...a short-corded DC adapter charger...no USB charging.

Acer is selling the same one and condition for $320 with free shipping and 14 day return. Acer does charge state sales tax.

ICS = Ice Cream Sandwich, or Android 4.0

Acer is scheduled to push this update in February 2012.

Would it better to buy the 32Gb refurb here for $299 and possibly have trouble with it or buy the 16Gb refurb from Walmart for $278 and possibly have trouble with it?

Noooooope. It has a hefty battery that needs a full 12V (not 5) to get a good charge.

Snurrg. Thanks for the link, but SNURRG. I understand their hesitancy to make sure everything works "out if the box," but I would be willing to overlook a few bugs to be an early adopter...without having to root and load a custom ROM.

The A200 does not have the rear camera or the HDMI output. It is a step back.

Also the A500 WILL get the ICS update in Feb just as the A200.

I have looked at it seems as though the A200 did not get an HDMI port!

Absolutely makes it a non-starter for me. That is the main reason I even want a tablet.

jacksalon wrote:The A200 was just released a couple days ago, and is only $30-50 more BRAND NEW. Granted the storage is only 8 or 16 GB, but the rest of the specs seem to be the same - and it is guaranteed to get an ICS upgrade.

I'm kind of bummed they didn't knock another $50 off this refurb price, especially considering the other comments made by other members saying how they got refurb deals for $250.

Here's the info for the A200:

Yes! I bought one of these as well after trying a cheaper one, and it has been more than worth it. It looks classy and can be used as a stand from a couple different angles. Love it.

Oh, also the tablet. The tablet is pretty cool too.

Just browsing the statistics between this tablet and the one I bought, the Toshiba Thrive 16GB, and I can't see any differences in terms of internal components/ports, beyond the larger internal memory of the Iconia and the Thrive having full-size ports. http://www.woot.com/Blog/ViewEntry.aspx?Id=20935

Think they're equally matched, and my Thrive's just what I wanted.

Come on, another tablet from woot? Aren't we getting tired of this yet?

I just bought the Asus Transformer refurb for this price, without the $5 shipping, from another site. I'm done. I have three Androids and I don't need any more.

As for the best buy black friday comments, I bought one online and then they refused to actually sell it to me. But that was the 7" version, not the 10". I don't know why people are saying they bought the 10" Iconia with 32GB for less than this price.

Well, that's great for you. So sorry that woot's apparently inconveniencing you. Some of us are still looking for that "sweet deal" on Android tablets and this might not be it. Of course, if this was new instead of refurbed I would have already ordered it...

I am on this same 32 GB model now and love it. We use it more now over the laptop. Having a 10.1 screen GPS in the car is awesome. HDMI is nice to hook up to our TV while watching Netflix on it. Use Skype on it with excellent clarity. Enjoy the media ports, and how well it integrates into Google.

This is a good price and the lowest I've seen on a 32 GB referb. The unit does require a reboot every so often but that might be caused from a bad app I'm running, no biggie.

Very happy with it...

btflorey wrote:Picked up the 16GB one for $229 new from Best Buy's website the Saturday following black Friday. $299 would be an acceptable price for a new unit but is a rip-off for a refurbished one. Be patient, shop the sales, and I guarantee you'll find a better deal. Just my opinion.

Amazon is $479 so it has a ways to go to hit this price for a new one. I got the Motorola Xoom 32 about 3 months ago on here, refurb. I can't see where it was refurbished and it works like a dream. I paid $355 and still don't see it on sale for that price anywhere. Lowest has been $400 once.

So I don't agree with you. This tablet has a 4 1/2 star rating on Amazon's 53 ratings. Sounds good to me. Maybe in the summer it will come down to that price but why wait that long? No tax for most states, $5 shipping, no gas driving to pick it up in east bum fork.

As you said, just your opinion and this is just mine.

I purchased this model from Amazon back in August (they had a $100 off deal going). I've got it rooted, overclocked, and have ICS installed.

It runs very smooth with little to no lag. If you get one, make sure you check out tegraowners.com, the guy that runs the site makes very good ROMs and custom kernels.

If you have media on a PC or laptop you want to stream to the tablet, check out an app called Plex. I am able to stream pretty much any type of video file (including hd mkv files).

This tablet is also great for reading comics (there is a marvel app, a dc app, and an app called comixology). You can also install an app called perfectviewer and use it to view cbz files.

For internet browsing, I use the 'dolphin for pad' app. Another plus, you can use flash on this tablet.

The tablet is on the heavy side.

WARNING: My wife and I purchased two A500's from CostCo late last year and both have chronic dysfunctional GPS sensitivity issues. Even outside at night with clear skies, it takes our A500's > 10 minutes to get a poor-quality signal lock. After doing a lot of research, there's lots of people with this same problem, so do your research ahead of time before shelling out cash for a potentially defective unit. Acer (not CostCo, but ACER) is currently in the process of giving us a direct refund for both of our tablets, but it's taken a heck of a lot of escalations and phone calls to get to this point - nearly 3 months worth; very painful. They FINALLY admitted to us that they were able to repro the problem themselves, and after that, getting the refund process going forward was "less" painful. We even waited 1 month for their hardware engineers to come up with some ideas, and even they never replied with any solutions to our Acer contact.

So, if you don't care about GPS, this is a great tablet. If you DO care about functional GPS, buyer beware that you may end up getting a tablet with a mostly dysfunctional GPS receiver. The problem appears to be very hit and miss as well - some A500 GPS receivers work fine, others don't work at all.

Do the research on the web BEFORE you commit to buy! Just search for A500 and GPS...

The next generation of Android tabs are already out or about to be released, so that's why you're seeing so many on Woot. So this is bargain time for the first generation models.

Notice all of "yesterday's tablets" being dumped right after CES? First they try to sell them a little cheaper, then later sell the rest really cheap before they rot completely.

But what about the great unwashed who don't want to root, toot and scoot a unit? It's like the person who buys a car and puts in a different engine and raves about how great it is. Doesn't help the rest of us. For those who DO want to root, scoot and toot, we would want to know EXACTLY what you changed, as there are all kinds of not-so-good rooting schemes out there. Or at least a pointer to a URL to step-by-step it.

As is, it has access to the Android Market. I've the 16GB version with 3.1 and that works with the market. Also, it does have blue tooth connectivity with external devices.

Purchased my 16GB from secondipity when they sold theirs out in a day and use it at work and love it, the 32GB i'm buying now will be a good backup.

I was interested in this until I read the reviews. Bad microphone and the GPS may or may not work right. How difficult is it to make a decent microphone or even GPS for that matter? It's not like I really need it anyway. My daughter has been pestering me for a tablet and I'm looking for something more flexible than a Kindle Fire or B&N Nook. I'm sure it's a given that no matter what I do... it will be wrong.
