  • 17.4% - Sonic! 216
  • 8.5% - Neither! I’ll tell you who’s better in the comments! 105

Well, how do you fare compared to the Zeitgeist? Chat up your fellow wooters and let us know how lame this poll was or what obvious choices we missed. For example: Was this poll a) STUPID, b) DUMB, c) POINTLESS or d) ALL OF THE ABOVE?

I prefer Sonic. I've never eaten at a Mario before. What do they serve?

No. I could never get past that music.

Mario def. Can't beat the original story game. I had the SNES and a SEGA Genesis as a youngin and Sonic was waaay too easy. I would beat the whole game without losing lives.

Lets compare 4 classic Heroes...

Abilities:
Mario is about jumping.
Sonic is about running.
Link is about fighting.
Samus does all three.

that's 1 for Samus

Plot:
Mario: with the exception of the rpg mario games its Oh My Gookie! bowser kidnapped peach
Sonic: with little exception Oh My Gookie! Eggman wants to take over the world!
Link: While most zelda games are Oh My Gookie! ganon/ganondorf wants to take over the world/hyrule and at some point kidnaps/traps zelda, there is at least an underlying plot to it
Samus: Oh My Gookie! crash on planet/space station/meteor must escape

Im giving this one to link

classic era fun-ness
mario: simple fun but at times frusrating
sonic: see mario
Link: see mario
Samus: see mario

Tie!

Modern era fun-ness
Mario: with very few exceptions mario is always fun
Sonic: sonic adventure 1 & 2 were fun but after that a big pile of fail till generations got the fun back
Link: very little fail here but to me at least there are 2 meh (majora and TP)and 2 down right bad (phantom hourglass and spirt tracks) but the epicness of OoT and skyward sword make up for that
Samus: Only one true fail here and that was "The Other M" and that was mainly because they gave her a voice and made her a wimp

one more for samus!

Conclusion: There is little point in comparing characters from totally different styles of games but if you must.. it goes to Samus.

Remember back in the day when Crash Bandicoot was almost considered as big of a mascot for Sony as Mario and Sonic were to Nintendo and Sega?

I have to look up just to see Hell.

Not my preferred method of using up time, but the rest of the households definite preference is Thai the Tasmanian Tiger. From my observation it seems to need more thought than just shooting skills, great graphics and lots of puzzles to figure out.

I'm looking back to when nintendo, and Sega master systems roamed the earth. There was no sonic, just mario, and what ever awesome graphic they used to capture the essence of the game on the front cover. (If you have ever seen the early master system games you know what I'm talking about).

Space Invaders with a pitcher of beer after Grad School classes.
Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman blaring in the background.
Such was life in the 70s.

I prefer Mario. But I like Donkey Kong most of all.

Seriously, this is easily the most underrated LoZ game. So very good. You can play straight through, or complete some majorly complex quests/sidestories. This game is so well made--people just don't give it a chance. btw it might be my favorite of the modern era zelda games (post-SNES games)

Sonic for sure. It's what I grew up on. Sonic 2 with my little sister playing as Tails while it rained outside, and a nice cup of hot chocolate...So fun! Oh and I could never forget the cheat codes to have even more fun:

Level select: 19 65 9 17
Super Sonic: 4 1 2 6
Debug: 1 9 9 2 1 1 2 4

Mario's "multiplayer" just couldn't compare.

There are 10 types of people in this world: those who understand binary, and those who don't.

Can't speak for Sonic Colors, but Generations is pretty good.

But if you want to talk about knockout platforming, you have to bring up Rayman Origins. GREAT game.
