The Touchpad has made it to CA. Now will it make it to the Bay Area for delivery Wednesday? Then will the wait be worth it, will it be a go or a no go?

I called fedex and the story goes like this....

"The carrier being used is closed on Monday because they work on saturday" Thus today mine finally showed arrived in my local town at 4pm. I'd say you'll get yours on time the tracking is slow to update...

Thank goodness for the 90 day warranty. I'm not sure how many people have encountered this problem, but there seems to be a bulge at the bottom of my Touchpad, underneath the center button. It's actually separating the back casing and the screen of the device. Contacted HP through Live Chat and they're sending out a box immediately. Anybody else have this issue?

Hey people. I havent gotten mine yet. hopefully here tomorrow so Im hopping its not defective.

But Im already thinking about what to do. I definitely want to install android because I have a crapload of apps that I own, The question is whether to install CM9 or CM7(maybe a stupid question but did they skip CM8?). I know they say CM9 is still in alpha build or whatever. How would I go about upgrading CM9 when the release new versions? would I have to manually reinstall or is there a system update option?

So overall, what do you guys think is the better version of android to install?

Can somebody who got a 32GB tablet provide the provide the MFG part number please? Talking to HP, they gave me conflicted information on if my touchpad is 32GB or 16GB. The device does not boot, so I have no other way of confirming this. Thanks in advance!

Just guessing, but that sounds like a bad battery. Li-ion batteries tend to puff up when they go bad.

And we're off! HP released the Android source code. This should be awesome. I can't wait, mine is out for delivery today.

Hello fellow wooters! I'm happy to say that FedEx finally brought me mine yesterday at 5:15pm. Luckily this was not the first time I got something from FedEx. For some reason they always seem to hit my house last... Any way I'm proud to say I got a like new TP that is 32Gig. It came with a 17% charge so it was charging throughout the night and now it's fully charged. No problem. Only complaint I have about it is the "home" button does feel a little cheap. I only did the WebOS update so far. Hopefully I can get Android on it today. Good luck to the rest of you who have yet to receive one. I know it's been a long wait but it's well worth it!

My MFG part number is FB359UAR#ABA, could somebody with 32GB cross check theirs and confirm this please? I need to decide if I am returning or repairing this device. This number should be on your packing slip and on the fake SIM card insert slot on your device.

So far so good. Got mine yesterday.

Plugged in to charge, started set up. It froze, I did the hard reset, updated webOS and have had no further problems other than a couple of apps not wanting to work quite right.

I forgot to check the amount of memory. Hoping I won't have any issues though.

To answer your question. Because Android 3.0 AKA Honeycomb never had its source code released there is no CM8. The version of android on most new phones is Gingerbread which is 2.3.x this is what is CM7.

I guess because of how google released Android versions this is how the Cyanogen Mod people did their naming. Do a search for Android Version History on Wikipedia and the breakdown of releases and naming should make more sense.

Also not 100% sure how one would need to update. If I am not mistaken though the regular update system in Android does not work in Cyanogen Mod so you would have to manually update.

On a side note mine was delivered yesterday morning and works fine. There are two nicks on a side but overall it works just fine.

I let it update and charge and like it a lot. I plan on installing CM9 but I am gonna wait till it they get some of the issues fixed and get Hardware Acceleration for videos working.

In doing a quick Google search of that part number it does come up as a 32gb. I don't have mine with me so I can't physically look at the device itself.

I will say one thing:

For all of you installing Android on your TP, I have a Verizon Galaxy Nexus. This means I have been using ICS since the launch and it is such a large improvement over Gingerbread. I can not imagine going back to any version prior. That may sound like hyperbole but it really is jus that much faster and smoother.

This is something to consider when you are deciding which version of Android to install.

Placed my order around 7:00 Friday morning. A week later, February 2, I emailed Woot!. At 11:27 AM February 3, I received a response that included a tracking number. That evening I received an automated email from Woot! that it had been shipped. FIVE days later (including the weekend) the number is STILL not showing on the FedEx site. I called FedEx and all they could tell me was a label has been created for FedEx Ground but the package had not yet been picked up. This is shipping to Ohio. Does anyone else have a FedEx tracking number still not showing up on the FedEx site?

Mikedwilson63 wrote:They suggested I power it down, reboot it, and finally download their WebOs Doctor software and reset it by USB - that finally ended in an error message saying that it couldn't reset my device.

BTW, you get 90 days of free support when your device is new, but since that started when the original buyer registered, they want to charge you $14.95. However, since they couldn't fix it over the phone, they ended up waiving the fee at the end. They did say it is still under warranty, so they would repair it. The tech said, though, you shouldn't have to do that, get Woot to send you a new one.

Well now something interesting. After problems with the wifi, I suddenly couldn't shut the device down, so I just let it continue searching overnight while unplugged until it completely powered down. I decided to bring it into work and plug it in. When it booted back up, I ran through the setup again. It was able to detect the wireless here and I was able to setup my TP. And it was also shutting down properly. I'm gonna bring it home and test out different scenarios before deciding exactly what to do. I already contacted woot and they gave me a return label to use, but maybe I won't need it after all.

I'm expecting mine tomorrow (hopefully everything works okay with it) so my thoughts are kind of shifting to accessories. Has anyone found a nice touchpad case with built-in keyboard? I'm thinking about buying the official case and keyboard, but unfortunately you have to by them separately (and fairly expensive). Also is the touchstone charging stand worth the money?

Well, got mine today 15 minutes before I have to go to work. It looks perfect. Plugged it in, it said it's charging.

I'm debating taking it into work. I already gave them my two week notice a week ago. What are they going to do?? Fire me?? ;)

This will sound weird but when you get to FedEx's site and it says "not found" try clicking the resubmit button. I did that and my shipping information showed up.

Out for delivery in San Diego! Woohoo!

This morning on our killer morning walk (it wasn't really killer, I'm just that horribly out of shape), DH says maybe we should both go to the chiropractor today.

No! Not until FedEx gets here! "Well, won't they just drop it off?"

The man just doesn't understand....

Not that I'm trying to promote or anything, but having prime on amazon already I searched them and found some relatively inexpensive with better reviews than the HP version. for an example,

Well, Fedex tracking shows mine is still in Irving, TX. And I'm in Surprise, AZ. Supposed to be delivered tomorrow but at this snail's pace who knows...same with my order for the 16gb units for the boys.

Congrats to all who've already received their tablets and are enjoying HP Touchpad goody-ness. Sigh.

So, I tried looking through the pages and pages of shinanigins on here for the combo with no luck. Is there any good combo deal available??

I sat on the fence on it because I don't need a tablet-keyboard, but now I really want that touchstone charger and after seeing how pretty this thing is I should really get a cover...
