Much success tonight - picked up the box at our local FedEx/Kinkos (thanks for those who mentioned the option to push the delivery away from my front door and into a stop along the way home)...

Boo was quite happy to get her Valentine's Day gift, and we opened the box at the FedEx to make sure it wasn't a brick or anything.
Got home, set it up on the Touchstone charger and magically it wakes up, glows a little, then launches - nice...

So, as it charges and downloads I'll have to say I'm one of the lucky ones - says it's a 32GB model, 10 out of 10 on cosmetics, booted magically and though I too suffered the heartbreaking wait for info and delivery I'm hoping the rest of our experience is going to be great.

Looks like I may have received a dud. spent 30 minutes trying to set up my wifi. cannot even put in the code to connect. screen does not work. i can get the 7 to work and the 6. Others work sometimes but most do not work at all. Any ideas?

Mine does the same thing, then I touch the screen and move my finger upwards to see the rest of the info . . .

Fedex web site first promised a Feb 7 delivery, then Feb 9. I was an enormous fan of woot...but this has soured things. I think that the least they can do is refund the shipping charge.FWIW, I'm in MA.

Dont know if it was due to the odd issues I myself was incurring, but as I posted earlier, mine was delivered today and it was brand spankin new.

at 9am eastern, FLOP-EX called me!!

It was a supervisor I had spoken to about the 'issues'.

She called just to verify if I got the package.

Never expected them to call, but they did.

Still think Woot needs to figure out what went wrong with flop-ex so it doesnt happen again.

But nice to see flop-ex did call to follow up and ensure mine arrived with no problems when it was supposed to arrive. Arrived at 8am and they called me a tad before 9am.

Is it normal for the touchpad to not charge when the USB is plugged into your computer? Looks like mine will only charge when plugged in to a wall outlet.

Others?

yes it is normal. Not enough juice from your computer to charge

whhoooot. I'm typing on my touchpad. Looks great. No blemishes. Had a 46% charge out of the box. Charging cord is non functional but I already have extras so I'm charging it while I type. THANK YOU WOOT <3

LOL. UM, your next post after this one says you got the RMA and were a bit bummed because you were hoping for a good one.

Is Woot sending you another or giving you a refund?

Just to let you know, in case they are sending you another one, im pretty sure yours is perfectly fine.

Cant say for sure without looking at it, but what you describe is 100% normal.

It's webOS and it has alot of cool features other OS' lack.

One of the features is using your finger to show/hide parts of page your viewing.

Did you try any 'finger swiping'?

Read the guide that came with it. It explains this feature and how to use it, although its pretty easy to figure out just by playing with it.

Just thought I'd mention it, cause if that is the case, you did get a good one and its functioning as it should.

Would hate to see you get another and encounter the same issue and think something is wrong.

Good luck.

Yep, normal.

The TP needs more juice then your comp can provide.

You need an OEM charger or get a touchstone.

Just check the specs as most chargers wont work on the TP due to them needing 'more juice' then normal ones provide.

I got the dud. Screen does not work. walked through fixing it with HP support. Disappointed. I thought they actually verified they worked after they were fixed. Obvious mine does not work. Does not respond when you try to type. May be my first and last woot.

This is (a little bit) off topic, but is anyone having issues registering for webosnation.com? I'm trying to install internalz pro and I can't download the source files unless I'm registered... (also I can't post on their forums without registering so I can't ask them)

I installed internalz pro from inside preware. Never bothered with registering for any forums.

After updating to 3.0.5, I downloaded webOS Quick Install. Then I put the TP in devmode, then plugged the TP into my pc and ran the quick install jar which installed the novacom driver. Then installed preware. After that you can unplug the TP from the pc. All patches and homebrew apps can be installed in preware.

Touchpad came yesterday.. great condition and some juice to show life right away.

CM7 was a breeze to install, all is well.

Acase + touchstone + matte screen protector are on my list of things to get but overall very happy with this woot. Not the shipping process lol, i've already wooted twice since so here's to hoping no more issues for a bit =p

Received my first HP TouchPad on Monday (2/6), which I mentioned earlier. Received my second HP TouchPad on Tuesday (2/7). I only ordered one. My wife decided she wanted to keep the 2nd one also, so we made arrangements with Woot and paid for it and now have two.

Here's what happened. I got an email on Friday evening (2/3) saying that the vendor and FedEx couldn't supply a tracking number for my order. Woot, in that email, said they were "harassing FedEx" for the tracking information, but that they would contact the vendor and have them ship another TouchPad if it was "truly lost." I figured a couple weeks for that process -- just hoping that the order didn't get cancelled. Meanwhile, on Monday, a TouchPad from the original batch arrived -- I've mentioned all this is mentioned in past posts. I emailed Woot, let them know the package had arrived, thanked them and gave them the tracking number for their records. I thought that was the end of it.

On Tuesday FedEx showed up again -- this time with a big box, the smaller HP box was inside. (Which explains why some packages showed 3 pounds, while others showed over 4 pounds). I guess Woot had assumed that the vendor had never shipped the original TouchPad and had them ship a replacement -- Over Night.

So I won't be joining the anti-Woot crowd. They got stuck in a weird situation and, in my case, did everything they could to fix the problem quickly. That's pretty good service.

Good luck to those who had issues, I hope HP or Woot gets them taken care of quickly.

Netflix is the only reason I am using CM7(it works great, used it all night) instead of CM9.

If you don't use Netflix, from what I read CM9 is the way to go.

Posting from my new Touchpad! 10/10 condition, downloaded 3.05 update, will hold off on ICS until beta is released. Too many bugs in alpha and this webOS isn't half bad. The 2 week wait was hard but manageable by reading the new posts in this thread each day.

After half an hour of getting the runaround on the phone, Fedex basically admitted that I was lied to last night and they have no idea when the package will actually get delivered.

At one point, the local manager claimed he was having trouble getting in touch with the driver, then five minutes later said he had heard back from her 15 minutes ago. She was on a set route, but had no idea when she would get here. The business plan seems to have changed from "When it absolutely, positively has to be there overnight, " to "It'll get there when it gets there."

What a pack of weasels.

My 32GB TouchPad arrived on Wednesday (Arizona) but I was on a business trip till this morning. Arrived in a refurb box but looks like a new device (no scratches, tool marks, etc.). Fired right up with 11% battery, charger and USB cable that came with it work perfect. Connected to my wifi (WPA2) no problem and is now downloading the updates.

I have a Viewsonic Gtab that I have been playing around with different Android ROM's so I have that to hold my Droid fix for a while. Will explore WebOS for a bit and wait until ICS is at the BETA level.

Background: I'm an embedded hacker; in fact, I've been doing it before it was called "embedded", and have done much work on Linux and systems similar in nature to WebOS and Android from the kernel all the way through to user interface, although no specific hacking on those two.

Anyway, got mine, no hardware issues. WebOS is very nice, although a bit confusing at first. But it doesn't run the Android apps I want to run, so I mostly don't use it.

Installed CyanogenMod ok (which I've been using on my phone for a long time) using my Linux desktop, although the instructions could be clearer.

CM7 certainly needs polish for tablets, but it works very well nevertheless. The only real issue I had was with WiFi not properly connecting - the resolution there is documented elsewhere - set channels to 11, then reboot in advanced WiFi settings. Not tried CM9 yet.

I installed the Amazon App store, and downloaded all the apps I'd "bought" for free previously. Two apps of note:

Scrabble, displays tiny in the corner, and makes a mess of the rest of the screen. But that has display issues on a phone sometimes anyway. Note that there is a WebOS version of Scrabble for $7, which I haven't tried.

Words with Friends: due to the aspect ratio, trims off the last 3 lines of the board, unless you zoom in and get super huge letters! I tried the Amazon store version of WWF, which just crashed. I know there's a tablet version of WWF, which you can see on the Kindle, but I don't know how one might access this.

Finally, I bought an integrated keyboard/case from Amazon - "IBlason Premium series". Complete piece of junk and is being returned. Now considering if I need the HP bundle.

Gingerbread/CM7 isn't intended for tablets, but it'll run ok. The CM team isn't working on CM7 for the TouchPad anymore - they've all focused on CM9. Keep an eye on that. WAY more tablet-friendly.

Hey just wanted to update, I got my Touchpad on
2/7, hp box inside a Woot box. Cosmetically 10/10, everything else has worked perfectly so far, out of the box had 50% charge, charged up, updated to 3.0.5, then put CM9 on. After 3 days everything is still working well, however after through research on our device there seems to be a rather large amount of problems people have reported regardless of being brand new, refurb, etc. For anyone that is having wifi problems, after reading literally hundreds of people having similar problems, if your device boots and looks good out of the box, check out some of the forums precentral, xda, rootzwiki for some solutions. I'm sure its defintly plausible that there are devices with true malfunctions from there internal wifi controller but the vast majority of people are able to fix them by following some of the suggestions like some of the ones i have seen posted here as changing the channels, it seems the wifi in these devices is very nit picky unfortunately. I read one post that had a solid foundation of problems with most routers that did not have a broadcom chipset. Others are putting dd-wrt on their devices, by changing the firmware on the router and using advanced options seems to solve issues(Be careful if you have to use dd-wrt as installing firmware incorrectly can brick your router, so if you don't have the technical background please be careful). Lastly, just so you know, I have a Linksys 3200 at home set on channel 9, wpa2. A router that a lot of people feel is very compatible is the older version of my router the Linksys 3000, which you can find on sale at various places for around 60-70$. CM9 is what it is an "Alpha" I have not had any problems with it so far but i knew the issues regarding netflix and hardware accelerated video.

I will post a collection of threads later this evening for anyone interested or may be having some problems. Here is a thread that explains some of the issues that plague all touchpad's.

Thanks & sorry for the long post.

I realize this probably should be addressed in WebOS forum, but heck we are at 51 pages, might as well keep the count going.

So as previously indicated my TP arrived in flawless condition. Haven't had a ton of time to play with it but have tinkered a bit. Seems like I may have some audio glitches but not certain. Here's a question- or two
(1) when you play the Box.net videois there supposed to be sound
(2) The YouTube app seems kind of wonky. The screen doesn't seem to render correcly at times and can't seem to have the vids play at full screen.

Anyone have any insight?

Thanks.

Playing on 8 bits, working on 32.

I've been playing around with my touchpad for a day now, and I have to say I'm pretty impressed. I've made a bunch of recommended tweaks and the tablet is very responsive. I was planning on installing ics right away, but I've decided to wait (at least until beta) because frankly webos is a pretty good OS and it does everything I need it to do right now. I'm still crossing my fingers and hoping nothing goes wrong, but so far so good.

By the way, I'm not sure if anyone else has mentioned this, but if you plan on getting a screen protector, I would suggest holding off on it... The plastic wrap my touchpad came with works pretty well for that. There are a few markings that tell you all of the button functions on the plastic, but that can easily be wiped off with a finger.

I bought this as an upgrade to my iPad 1. I received the 3 16g HPTP's the Tuesday after order was placed, I cracked one open right away, sold the other two on ebay, for 249.99 and the other $260.00, not bad for 169.99. After a week of use I am thinking of listing the 3rd one. Only upgrade from the iPad 1 is the cam, I overclocked to 1.5,1.7, and 1.9 and installed preware. I found that my jailbroke iPad 1 as fast or faster on all tests ( angry bird app, facebook app ect...), And the preware apps are not that great and much MUCH harder to deal with cracked apps. You might look into selling on eBay, clear a $100 and pick up a iPad 1, Jailbreak and have 100,000 more choices, especially free apps. I was really not happy about the cost of the few apps they have. I am not a Apple fan boy, I use and prefer my ZUNE over my iPod, and use a Vista desktop.

Now, if I could just get my google talk to work on it I would be happy.

Does anyone know if it really voids the warranty if you switch it over to android?
