This price isn't all that impressive. You can get similar prices in the Lenovo outlet: http://outlet.lenovo.com/laptops/thinkpad.html

I've got one of these.

Upgraded to an SSD and 6gb of Ram. I love it. Its super fast thanks to the SSD and RAM. Battery lasts 6+ hours. Ultra light and portable.

The CPU is not the most powerful and can it can bog if you are the type of person who has like 10 tabs in your browser window open as well as streaming music or downloading....but it takes most that you can throw at it like a champ.

Perfect for ultra portability or for a small laptop to keep on the nightstand/coffee table.

edit: the pricing on this is not so hot though.

I bought one of these refurb from a Lenovo garage sale last summer for just $20 less. Works better/faster than most netbooks (I have played Portal and Portal 2 on it, albeit at lower settings), great battery life, runs cool, has an excellent keyboard with working multitouch Ultranav (two finger scrolling works on the trackpad), has an excellent, high resolution, MATTE screen, and is very well built. I even dropped it once and it didn't even scratch.

The only disadvantage is that it came with a slow HD. I put a small SSD into mine and that made it a bit better, but that's not a requirement.

If I could figure out how to turn it into a Hackintosh, it would be just about perfect for the price.

Matte screens are hard to find these days. I have kept my last two notebooks that have them and sold off the ones with glossy screens because as a news truck driver I use my pc in a parked truck and could not stand the glare.

Airports were hard to work in too with all the lights and windows. This may be the ticket.

One thing to note: think pad keyboards have a non-standard layout for the left-side control and function keys. Rather than have the control key in the corner, the function key is there, with the control key to its right. These keys are flipped compared to all other Windows keyboards I've used.

We are humans; we adapt. But you've been warned, so I don't want to see any yapping about this down the line.

We use these at work (police department) and they have really performed well. We along with our IT department agreed on these and got them for a good price. I run everything on it. No complaints here.

I have had an x100 for a year now an love it. I travel a lot and the light weight of these machines offset any other cons. The keyboard is excellent, they are sturdy and dependable.

DarkZrobe wrote:I am not sure why everyone is complaining about the price. I searched around the web for this model and the prices were around $360+. And the people posting other deals are posting consumer laptops. This is a business laptop that is built better than most consumer laptops. There are many things in this that you wouldn't find on other laptops (such as the spill resistant keyboard and better built case).

This is a laptop that is built to last. Unlike many other laptops on the market.

Thinkpads are what Macs want to be when they grow up.

Eh, the IBMs were built to last. At work, we saw a steady decline in quality when Lenovo took over. I will agree, this is built to be a business computer, but the quality is nowhere near as legendary as before Lenovo bought IBM's PC business. I would not recommend a Lenovo for personal use. Or business use, for that matter.

Wow, exact same laptop from Walmart PLUS your choice of neoprene case, a 4G flash drive AND an HP printer/scanner all for ....$340. Plus tax and ship to store is free. Woot charges me tax, so... even though I don't need a printer or another small flash drive, it's hard to pass up the "freebies", can always give them to kids, grandparents, etc...

Netflix runs on almost anything. 2GB is fine. (not that more isn't worthwile for other reasons)

rolledsho wrote:Non technical Skippy Squirrel here but is 2gig of ram enough for a dual cor proessor?

Sure, why would the processor matter, much? Not at this level. RAM is more an issue for how many programs you want to run at once.

I bought an x120e for my mom a while back and she loves it. She uses it for internet/email/netflix on the couch. It's the perfect size for that, not too big but easier to use then a netbook.

edit: good price too for a new machine!

I had it too...the 5400 RPM HDD doesn't cut it...needs an SSD with 4GB+ to rock.
I really liked it...so much so I sold it to my neighbor for $100 more then I paid for it.
Ran Windows 8 Dev Preview and booted like an iPad...that was with an SSD though!

The x120e is still a current model. Even with Lenovo's current price break, the Woot is $60 less. 7hr battery life and good graphics capability in a small footprint and full size business rugged keyboard.

Just burry any reason to pay more for a Tablet and get less capabilit!!!!

This would have been a great deal 10 months ago. There is a reason why they are trying to get rid of these. Technology is moving faster than stores can move stock. The paradigm for computer specs. The specs on a $1000 Alienware laptop now will be in next Black Friday's doorbusters for $350 to $425. Being patient will pay off if you're in the market for computers, whether it's tablets, netbooks, notebooks, laptops PCs....anything except Ultrabooks. What's not on special now will be in a month or two and what's on special now will be even cheaper in a couple of months.

The idea of a netbook with just 2GB of RAM will be laughable to all of us soon and by some already.

That being said, if you just need a small portable computer for your average computer usage, this should do fine. If money is an issue and you aren't in a rush, skip it and shop around for 2 or 3 weeks. If you alreeady bought it, don't regret it. It's a good machine.

All you need is another computer with an optical drive, then copy-paste the whole cd to a flash drive and install from it(you'll need to locate an installation start file though)

P.S. to avoid legal issues you can only use this method with your own cd&computer

Go to Walmart.com, search for "tax time laptop bundle" and there you are with free ship-to-store but plus tax.

WoW will probably run but not offer great performance. I don't recommend playing graphics intensive games on computers with integrated video cards. I'm far from an expert on video hardware, but I tried to play WoW on a laptop with integrated video a couple of years ago and was unhappy with the experience.

Just my two cents, YMMV.

That's always true of the consumer electronics market - there will undoubtably be something "better" tomorrow. Being patient doesn't fix that problem, it just means that if you need a device, you end up waiting forever to buy something when plenty of things currently on the market will satisfy your needs now.

Your philosophy is often shared by tech pundits when deriding Apple by comparing specifications - what you and they don't seem to understand is that what's actually important to the vast majority of people is that the device they buy now fulfills the need they have at the time they buy it. I don't think too many people wooting for the best deal on a laptop are under the illusion that they are buying the most current, upgradable, and fastest device available - they just want a fair price for what they purchase.

These are not like the old Packard Bell PC's where the RAM was soldered to the MOBO. The RAM can be popped in and out. You can add another 2GB and it looks like some of the x120e's support up to 8GB.
