Howdy. Just thought that I'd point out that when it comes to the product titles, we have to go by what the manufacturer tells us. Fuji lists these as their heavy-duty line of batteries.

You can place one order for up to 3 of the item for sale per day per account. If you choose 2 or 3, it will then let you select a size for each set.

But no problem, just email service@woot.com and tell them you'd like to increase your order. As long as it doesn't sell out before the read your email, they'll gladly assist you.

These are the batteries that come in the blu-ray, tv, dvd, stereo remotes. The devides that have the "Batteries are included" on the box that they are so proud of.

Sad that Woot continues to sell these. You might as well make your own battery.

Hey, still working nights? Nice to have company. I understand what you mean but couldn't someone at Woot call or email Fuji and verify this post, which claims that a rep said they weren't Heavy Duty? If true, then simply add a disclaimer in the description. That can save Woot a lot of hassle from unhappy buyers who may claim fraud. In no way am I blaming Woot for the mislabeling(?), which is clearly Fuji's fault.

If you buy 3, then you tape them together in series (positive to negative), all you need is 75 batteries and an inverter DC to AC, and you could power the TV instead of just the remote. If you buy 3 then you could do the tv in your room and the living room, and still have batteries to power the remotes too.

Interchangeable? Just because you could use these batteries does NOT mean they are interchangeable with alkalines!

Heavy Duty and Super Heavy Duty are the old-tech Carbon cells. The mA-hr rating of these batteries is hard to use as a straight comparison due to the higher internal resistance of the Zinc batteries as compared to Alkaline.

Interestingly enough, Eveready uses both styles of Zinc in both Heavy Duty and Super Heavy Duty, depending on what size battery.

P.S. Not buying these crummy batteries.

Last time these came up I bought as many as Woot would let me. What a waste. They last very little time. I'm a mechanic that uses a LED pen light constantly. I just about have to change batteries everyday. Only get these for something that sits a long time with very little draw.

Okay, I've got to go to work (really horrible right now with hours), but I decided to peek in and read ALL of the comments this time around, and I'll give it a try rapid fire:

1. We're obviously in sdc100's range of expertise.
2. If I'm reading this properly, these will dispose into the environment "better" because of the ingredients (recycling energy effort excepted).
3. Since nobody else asked, I will:
Are these therefore the perfect battery for the Leak Frogs I just bought on sellout (more of)?

I have a lot of leak frogs, and was about to do a battery check anyway soon.
4. I didn't realize the previous sale set the unofficial record for comments. I would have thought as a quick guess that something like the Ooma or the Colgate dental devices was higher up in comments.
5. Hey woot, do y'all keep track of a top 10 of # of comments? It'd be interesting to see.
6. I peeked at what was offered in the woot-off--way too busy to follow this time. I understand why people want to still complain about it, but when I looked back at woots pre-Amazon, I'm still not convinced that the products offered are significantly different overall in interest. I think woot upset people as much with not being entirely predictable (i.e., no monkey/similar item to end, no bag), but my gut feeling is the majority of the die-hards aren't leaving just because of this. Vent steam, come back in a while. (One word: Excalibur)
7. Woot, is there any way to find out the earliest expiration date on any of these batteries (i.e., look at a few packages) or is that asking too much?
8. sdc100, thanks for the info.
9. scd100, on the other hand, I'm just not clicking with the "lightning thighs" deal. I'm sure the two of you would make a wonderful crime fighting duo, but,...

Thanks. Back to work (ugh). P.S., How many days a week do moderators like ThunderThighs work?

Edit: cappo got to the leakfrog question while I was typing this.

Always work the rollovers. I like them as they're exciting and full of energy. Some nights more than others. *cough*

I'll pass on the info to the buyer. Nothing is gonna happen this weekend of course. There very well could be a difference of opinion within Fuji too.

Like others have said, use these in things that have a VERY low power draw.

I put a set in my kids' RC car and they died before it got to top speed. The ones that I have in my Arc Touch wireless mouse have been kicking for a month or so though.

DON'T BUY. I bought this deal in December. Literally, I got 5-6 pictures taken before camera indicated batteries were dead. X-box remote lasted less than 5 minutes. If these are from the same lot, they're 'dead' batteries.

1) Not really, but I sure do pretend well!
2) Yes, generally speaking, zinc carbon batteries are minimally harmful to the environment. And certainly less so than alkalines. But that's only referring to the internal chemical, i.e. electrolytes. I'm not sure about the housing, ink, etc. I only mention that because you'll have to use 4-7 (guesstimate) of these batteries to equal the life of one alkaline.
3) Low discharge NiMHs like Eneloops are probably the most green-friendly, albeit expensive, solution. They have to be low self-discharge or the batteries will be spent in two months even if the frogs are never triggered.
4) My claim of a posting record was just a guess. That Woot was weird because an extensive side-thread started on the risk of death from falling bullets. I can't remember what that had to do with batteries. Making it worse (or better) was the fact that lots of Wooters are physics geek so the arguments are quite heated.
5) ...
6) I agree. And as an aside, I'm one of those Pinkys that bought a bunch of Exclaibur stuff. But I was a newbie then.
7) The description says "Expiration Date: 10/2014" so I'm guessing that they're mostly in that range.
8) I'm not sure what you're thanking me for, but thanks for all the links. I wouldn't be able to write half the stuff I do without links to manuals, previous reviews, etc.
9) Well, I've taken off those lightning shorts and am now typing in the nude so I'm no longer "lightning thighs." Just kidding ... am wearing jeans now but couldn't resist grossing you out.

Regarding the moderators ... I often wonder if they work from home. That wouldn't be such a bad deal.

Don't normally comment, but I have to on this one. Bought these last time and got a 3 pack. Had to throw them away as they retained almost no power. I put four in a camera and got one shot before the camera reported the batteries bad.

They would probably be ok for something for LEDs but that's about it. One of my rare, but biggest Woot mistakes.

Ironically "heavy-duty" batteries are not designed for heavy duty use in modern electronics. It's an older technology. Here is a quote from wikipedia:
Primary (non-rechargeable) zinc–carbon (Leclanché cell) AA batteries have around 400–900 milli amp-hours capacity, depending entirely on test conditions, duty cycle, and cut-off voltage selected. Zinc–carbon batteries are usually marketed as "general purpose" batteries. Zinc-chloride batteries store around 1000 to 1500 mAh are often sold as "heavy duty" or "super heavy duty".

The heavy duty batteries are recommended mostly for low voltage usage like wall clocks, remote controls and yes smoke alarms (though most of those use 9 volt batteries).

I was going to pass until I remembered two things: My electronic temperature monitor uses both AA and AAA batteries and second, the heavy duty batteries works great in my old ancient 1987 Tandy model 102 laptop computer (32k expanded memory--that's right 32k bytes, and a built-in 300 baud modem). Hmm haven't used the old modet T in ages, maybe it's time to dust it off. :-)

My husband and I have sets of these at school. When kids come to me asking if I have batteries for their whatever device, I give them these instead of my rechargeables, which I never get back.

I have no idea if they last long; if not, I really don't care - the kids have to scam them from someone else. I get to be a hero for a while.

These batteries are complete garbage. They simply do not last. The reason Eveready and Duracell cost more is because they last a lot more.

I bought three packs of these around Christmas. I have put them in things I use daily. I have to replace these like once a week, where the Duracells I normally use lasted a little more than six weeks.

They are cheap, but you'll have to replace them a lot more frequently.

See:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zinc–carbon_battery

These are c__p batteries. They have a shelf life of about 1.5 years, and will leak nasty zinc chloride, which is more hazardous and damaging than the leaked stuff from alkalizes.

There is no reason to buy these, unless you consider being cheap a reason. They are really not so cheap as compared to the Costco and Sams bulk packages of alkalines, or even the blister packs at the dollar stores.

Alkaline batteries have twice the capacity, and will store 5-10 times as long for zombie apocalypse purposes.

Bought these last time and I would advise a pass on these. They are clearly marked heavy duty rather than alkaline. BUT, they last about 1/5th the time as a Duracell or Energizer alkaline. IMHO it makes the great price only a so so price and for the hassle of having to change them out much, much, much more often, they are not worth it.
