Hey, kids: It's Ben the Over-Literal Dermestid Beetle again, here to carp about another of his inconsequential peeves!

This week Ben's sounding off about Rupert Holmes's chart-topping hit "Escape (The Piña Colada Song)." It hit the number one spot twice, once in 1979, then again in 1980!

Yeah, pretty timely rant there, Ben. At least no one will accuse you being a fad-chaser. What'll you gripe about next, we wonder, scandalous short-sleeved bathing costumes?

What's even funnier is that the lyric was changed at the last minute. Originally, it was "If you like Humphrey Bogart..."

Another reason for Ben to be unhappy:

Pina Coladas are one of the most calorie dense drinks going. About 644 in one drink (but I guess it depends upon the size). By comparison, about the same number as in a Big Mac.

I pretty much hate everything Rupert Holmes has ever been connected with but I gotta say, he made the right decision.

Hi, I'm one of the writers. My powers are limited but I'll do what I can.

Anybody see Sandra Bullock on the Oscars, she seemed to have the same lisp tick as Ben.

Ben needs to listen to the lyrics before the initial mention of the pina colada. It is a man, not a woman, who writes the ad.

This is like the only player WITHOUT DLNA, NFS, etc. support.

So if you have a movie collection you would like to play, forget it!

I just checked a couple pop-up-laden, presumably virus-infected lyrics sites, and I think Ben has it right.

The original ad (first chorus, "if you like piña coladas") is placed by a woman; the reply ad (second chorus, "yes I like piña coladas") is placed by a man.

You're right - I forgot that he was reading the paper first and replying second. Heck, I even know all the lyrics without a popup/virus-spawning site... I should have recited all the lyrics to myself first before questioning the Ben's veracity.
