Ok this might get deleted because it relates to the spam from before, where this girl has a classmate who's mother makes a ton of money on her laptop- but I have a logic problem here, and I was wondering if any wooters could help me out. If her classmate's mom is making so much money "on the laptop", why is her classmate taking the class to begin with? Wouldn't she be better off just doing what her mom is doing? It's got to be more lucrative than whatever the result of the class she is taking is going to lead to. Could this be a scam? I feel so dirty- it just doesn't make sense.

My cheap-o Kodak Zi8 HD vidcam has external mic in. I don't think it's an unreasonable request for a non-pro cam. The wife has been looking for something like this, but that's one of the reasons I'm passing on this one, as the internal mics are generally not passable for recording singing performances by the daughter. This one may have a decent enough internal mic, but I'm not willing to fork $$$ to find out that it isn't.

Woot's description says it can record over 14 hours on internal memory, but I'm quite sure that is far, far from true. The user Manuel sais it has a maximum internal record time of just over 5 hours on the lowest setting. http://resources.jvc.com/Resources/00/01/49/LYT2257-001C-M.pdf

I bought two similar cameras (HM30, I assume the same camera without the 8GB internal memory.) I shoot business video (trade show, training stuff) and these work great as little unobtrusive b-cams as long as you have decent lighting.

Im one of those pro's and I wouldnt buy JVC ever. Sony, maybe. Panasonic more likely. FYI- anyone in production wouldn't touch ANY of these cheap cameras.

I don't want to get to immersed into the 720p vs 1080p scuffle. But yes, 720p is high definition since it's higher than standard or enhanced definition. Just live with it.

Also, do you really think that this camera would be demonstrably better with 1080p? That goes for any camera in this class and price range. The resolution isn't the only important thing-- there's the signal processing, the encoder, the optics and how well the operator can hold the camera steady. There are probably older, high end standard or enhanced definition cameras that will produce a more pleasing image than this camera will simply because they have better internals and optics.

For a lot of lower and consumer grade cameras 1080p won't matter at all because there are just so many other factors involved that affect the image that are way more important than a handful of pixels.

Actually upconverting will not add detail, but it will make it look better. Did you ever watch a DVD on a high def screen with an older DVD player that did not have upconversion vs a DVD player that did have upconversion? The upconverted result is definitely the better option. Basically it's interpolating missing data- hence smoothing the picture.

Well 3 seconds if I use the counter peripheral technique so I don't get spotted as easy. Basically since i'm not looking spot on it takes my peripheral vision more time to absorb the data. Nice catch though- I'm impressed.
