A lot of people at work have an ipod and just want to be able to listen to their music while at work in the backroom. I don't have a ipod, but I was thinking of getting this for others to use. We don't play music at loud volumes, as we work at a library, so I think this would work fine. I haven't checked prices on other ipod docks, but this seems pretty cheap.

There are other cheap ones on Amazon. Not sure if these work as chargers. I haven't read the details yet.

Our compatibility lists matches the list in the manual that comes with unit. I'm guessing that was all printed before the 4S was released. As to whether it's compatible, the community would be better to answer that.

Things I learned from it:

1. It was printed in 2011, but who knows when in 2011, so it likely was just before the 4S release.

2. The speaker isn't the only thing made in China; it appears the manual and its contents are too.

3. Acoustic Research = Audiovox

I'd forgotten that last fact. So much for the AR brand reputation of old.

Include the iPad/iPod and you got a deal.

The compatibility list on the WOOT page mentions that it works with iPad and iPad 2.

Pretty sure that this was made pre-iPhone 4S.

Also, no use in speculating about it being compatitable with the iPad 3 (to be announced this coming Wednesday), but Even if the 30-pin dock was not included in the iPad 3, you still have the line in

The AR page lists "Audio line-in (3.5mm)" in the specs. At http://www.acoustic-research.com/dockingstations/?sku=ARS13

But it is odd the manual does not mention it, and no obvious location for it is visible to me in the pictures (AR website has more pictures with better detail).

I wish this had an audio line out (3.5mm) so I could hook it up to my stereo or a pair of powered speakers. This is of limited value to use while the device is on because I always have my iPad in landscape orientation.

Anyone know if this will work with the 4S? Shoot, just saw that this was already asked. I'm guessing it won't work since it was made pre4s. Betting it won't be iPad3 compatible, since that one is rumored to have a new body.

Highly doubtful it has 2 speakers. It would be a bad design to put 2 speakers so close together. Sometimes mono is better.

I'd be all over this and would probably get one for each room if my iPad wasn't old and kicking stuff out of memory all the time. I want it, but I'm upgrading to iPad 2HD4G ASAP, which I am skeptical about support for since it is rumored to have a thickness change, and even a mm can kill dock compatibility or stress the connector slot on the device at best.

In for 2! Great job on this one woot! My kids can never keep their ipods charged as they want them in their room and not by the usb plus in their PC. This is a great way for them to have them charging between uses while in their rooms and then they also have the options of listening too. Bonus!

My problem, as eluded to before, I have an Ottercase on my non-insured 4S. Most of these units either won't plug in or if they have the spring loaded plugs... they put too much stress on the connector. I just can't go in unless I knew it fit.
