I have talked to many Polish people that have traveled to Italy, France, etc, and said it was nice but they were happy to come home and eat their pirogi, bigos, and kielbasa again. And chicken and pork. Lots and lots of chicken and pork.

There use to be italian pork stores in nyc that sold only pork.
I found that confusing when I got married and went to buy ground beef for meatballs. Meatballs were suppose to be 1/3 beef, 1/3 veal and 1/3 pork.
The pork store only had the pork. So I had to go to two different butchers for the meat. Pia.

Well, it is Tuesday. Son and friends go to an all you can eat sushi deal.
So I got something we like and he doesn't.
Cooked it
Ate it
Cleaned up
Hubby hasn't shown up for the meal yet.
This has been going on forever. I cook. Call the family. They show up eventually.

pia

Daughter moved today. Heard from her at 5;30am. Nothing since.

But mom day was ok

Kinda put my foot in my mouth. Got an email from Kyocera for 25% off an entire order. And the prices were pretty good to begin with. (ceramic knives, which I love) But then I saw $10 flat rate shipping. I had just ordered a coffee pot cord with $2 shipping so I was outraged. And emailed them and told them so. Just got an email back that if I call them, they won't charge me shipping. Now I feel like I have to order a new knife. Or something. Maybe a mandolin.

Mandolins are good. I got rid of the one with the V shape blade.
Cut a tiny chunk of skin off with it.
Like the straight edge better. Can only get cut with one blade!

The song came and went
Like the times that we spent
Hiding out from the rain under the carnival tent
I laughed and she'd smile
It would last for awhile
You don't know what you got till you lose it all again

Listen to the mandolin rain
Listen to the music on the lake
Listen to my heart break every time she runs away
Listen to the banjo wind
A sad song drifting low
Listen to the tears roll
Down my face as she turns to go

Daughter made it to Maryland. The apt is very nice.

When the apt complex called her to say a unit opened up, she quit her job.
Then a week later, she got a call saying the person wasn't moving out after all.
Daughter freaked out in a good way. Told the renting office that was totally unacceptable. She quit her job to make the move.
She would be getting a lawyer.
Office immediately offered her a somewhat bigger apt at the same price as the one Daughter had asked for.

Cat was freaked out, but is already recovering.

It is not the opening story on the news. There must not have been the same violence in nyc.

Nope, just disorderly conduct arrests.
No violence here.

No coverage of the violence in WA. You would think it would have been mentioned.

It wasn't here either, but that's because most of the news was about the storms that went through earlier. One tornado. Some placed had three inches of rain.

I think that was awesome of daughter! Of course here, the fertilizer landlords would try to call the lawyer bluff. They get threatened all the time and they are all valid claims, most people just don't have the time to follow through.

Birthday girl had a great night, now to chase them into bed because we just realized that Ver1 has a full day of school followed by a bounce house party and a track and field night at the University. Oh and I'm so beat I can barely stand up.

Woot staff were tweeting some of the local reports and video.

Protesters were targeting buildings, but there is no way you would want to be on the street when the protesters were there. They were breaking huge windows with crowbars and nasty looking stuff.
Plus they is no excuse to damage property like that.
If they were calling themselves Occupy Wall Street people, they just destroyed themselves.

Yeah, you are right. Probably some nasty bad guys taking advantage of what was supposed to be a peaceful protest. It also looks like the powers that be in Seattle did not make a huge deal about it so as to fan flames even more. In any regard, agree or disagree with the "occupy" people, this has done them a considerable amount of damage.
