YES! Drat, new that last question would give it away.

Check your PMs in a few minutes.

So maybe I'm not hip to this thing, but what do you mean by PM? I didn't think that woot had private messaging built in, do you mean an emai?

I'm not on IRC or anything....

LOL. I'm glad someone else can't keep those straight. I always have to google them if I have to use them. I can use them between 2 numbers fine, like

7 > 6

but not by itself.

YAY!. Now I just have to work on not deleting them. Don't take it personal. They're like about 1/4" part. And there's no verification for delete. Makes deleting hundreds of spams faster that way.

No problem. Look up at the top of these forums and you'll see an envelope with a number on it. To the right of Everything But Woot. Click on that. That's Private Messages. Let's you send messages one-on-one. You reply to them just like any other post.

I've been on Woot a couple of years myself and asked that question last week. The PM system is the little envelope icon next to each person's id and your own PM mailbox is to the lower left of the Google custom search box in the forum.

Where did I put my my quill and inkpot?

I did debate that answer but without a glass and a drink, probably not.

I almost used McDLT for a clue. It's ad line was "Keeps the hot side hot and the cool side cool" but I figured that would be too easy.

Another clue was going to be "8 out of 10 cats" as that was Whiska's ad line a few years ago.

Then come in and tell people to stop expecting it to get their drink super cold/hot. It's to maintain a temperature, not achieve it.

Oh, BTW, we had 51 people last night. Second highest!

Not nearly so many tonight, I don't think. I'll check after the new product threads settle down.

Hopefully my internet won't die at 12:07am today. Had to jerk poor InkyCatz out of bed last night.

ReginaFilangee wrote:Ummmm.....that's actually a very HIGH-calorie "snack" but more importantly, the source of those calories is what is the problem. No different than eating a couple tablespoons of pure corn syrup. Unless you have a metabolism like Michael Phelps or eat them while running a marathon, those molecules are stored directly as adipose tissue (fat) as soon as they go through the Kreb's cycle in your mitochondria.

No different than eating pure corn syrup? Not true. First of all, the fat in these jerkies actually makes the absorption of carbs more difficult, which aids in dieting. As such, some will not get to the Kreb's cycle, i.e. glycolysis. Furthermore, protein and fats satiates the appetite whereas corn syrup actually increases appetite. There's a BIG dfference between ingesting pure corn syrup and these jerkies.

Not true. Carbs (the simple carbs like included here) are absorbed DIRECTLY and immediately across the mucosa, regardless of the presence of fat and/or protein ingested along with it. The body gives it preferential absorption treatment because it's the easiest to convert into both energy (if needed immediately) and stored adipose tissue (if not needed immediately). Because the body has to 'work' to get the same effect from fats and proteins by first breaking them down into usable factions, it will actually allow them to pass through the system or go through delayed digestion/absorption if there are enough simple carbs to keep it occupied for awhile.

You are correct that fats and protein satiate the appetite while corn syrup, etc. causes MORE of an appetite (as I also already stated), but the carb effect of increased appetite will ALWAYS trump the satiety effect of the fat and protein....which is why fat/protein are okay to eat together, but neither should be combined with simple carbs (especially the crappy ones like empty sugar calories of corn syrup and refined white sugar which serve no purpose---other than adding to the adipose stores---unless a body is truly in starvation status.)

Study the method by which many livestock with similar GI systems and physiological metabolism structures are purposely "fattened up" to achieve slaughter weight in the shortest amount of time possible....and you'll see surprising similarities (almost identical, in fact) between that and how "they" tell us WE are supposed to eat.

May the Crap be with you all!!!

I thought they were just OK as a whole. They were all really sweet. The only one i would purchase again is the Chile Lime flavor. It was really good & it was the only one that had any HEAT to it. The Smoked Hickory tasted neither like hickory nor smoked but more like a stick of brown sugar. The Lemon Basil was tasty too. I love jerky so i would still recommend it to try.

I'll stick to my favorite Wild Bills beef jerky.

Just received mine today w/ the surprise bonus that my order of 3 units included 3 bags of 4 of the varieties (as expected) & 3 BOXES (of 8 bags) of 1 variety (Lemon Garlic Turkey in my case which luckily I liked ;-) so instead of getting 15 bags of jerky for $60 I got 36 bags which is a crazy good deal

Hopefully that means the 3 of the other 3 varieties will show up in the other UPS delivery tomorrow.

You may be a dreamer, but I'm The Dreamer, the definite article you might say!

Received my woot today; Tried the lemon garlic, and this jerky is certainly not like the rest out there - It's more or less candied jerky, as the meat itself is sticky. However, the carbohydrates are below 10g, which is acceptable for me and my diet, and the flavor is prominent. The sodium content is about half that of some of the commercial brands (See: Oh Boy! Oberto, Jack Links). Overall, I'm pleased with this woot.
