Exactly - it reminds me of the episode of 'Seinfeld' where Elaine tries to donate muffin bottoms to a food shelter and they don't want them. I'm sure you'd have the same experience if you tried donating these beef jerkys haha

Bought these twice...last time on the last Woot Off. It is really good, if you like jerky that is heavily flavored and moist. It is missing the Pineapple, which was too gooey. I'm in for 3.

Is this better than Slim Jim? Granted, that has 1 flavor, but I could get the Mcnugget dipping sauce and have my own plethora of flavors.

I've been using Alton Brown's method of strapping pleated furnace filters to a box fan for the drying process. It works great, and the filters are cheap and reusable.

It would taste better and be TONS healthier, too!

I ordered from this company before when they were featured on wine.woot. I was really excited because I consider myself a jerky connoisseur of sorts. They were pretty bad if you like traditional styles of jerky. Very sweet and very moist. I ended up throwing more than half of them away which is blasphemy in my house, but I just couldn't stand to finish them. I definitely wouldn't recommend them.

I tried it, and thought it was wonderful for people who love fruit but hate jerky -- and have too much $$ in their pockets.

Seriously, it's soaked in flavoring, which is so intense that one cannot really detect any sense of meat.

We make pemmican at home the Indian way (berries, fat, shredded meat, dried & pressed). When it goes bad, it's a little like this jerky.

I think that poster is referring to the fact (covered up, but fact nonetheless) that ingestion of corn syrup has the same chemical effects on the brain that cause an addictive type of euphoria, much like drugs, alcohol, tobacco, etc. It makes you (temporarily) feel good, then you go thru physical withdrawal and crave more...but it doesn't get you "drunk" (at least not in the same way.)

High fructose and soybean oil are not really ingredients that you should be blowing your healthy ingredients horn about unless you are way out of your depth. High fructose, just give it a look on Google and see for yourself what it will do to you.

If they are "natural flavors" why are they adding them? Shouldn't they be in there already, naturally? What exactly are these natural flavors that are listed in the ingreedyents?

Although I've personally never experienced this brand of Jerky, just looking at the pictures of the meat scares the crap out of me. Are they edible? Is something fuzzy growing out of these things? I guess they taste better than they look. :/

I make my own beef jerky, but I have never used corn syurp or soy sauce. I use all dry ingreidents. 3 different flavors of salts, some powdered red pepper, course black pepper and about a tablespoon of white sugar. My beef jerky is dry, as it should be, and not wet or moist. I sell it for $2.00 an ounce or $32.00 a pound. And you do get your monies worth. That's a lot of meat.

It really depends on your food preferences. If you like sweet meat products like char su bao, or korean bbq, or other oriental style red-cooked meats then you'll probably like this. Its sweet, its sort of "wet", there are no two ways around this fact. If you don't go for that sort of thing then you'll hate it.

The 2 turkey jerkys aren't anywhere near as sweet as the pork or some of the beef flavors are. I prefered them to Trader Joe's turkey jerky. We've gotten the krave sampler a bunch of times now from various places and we like it. Hubby prefers the less sweet flavors so I eat the pineapple beef if its in the combo, and he won't eat pork anyway so we're good there.

Forgot to add, saw this advertised at their normal prices in my local Safeway grocery circular this week. So if you have a Safeway and want to try just 1 pack, that might be an option.

I bought these last time they were on wine.woot. i'll miss the chili-garlic beef that was offered last time. I won't miss the pineapple-orange beef (not so much pineapple-orange as it was soft candied meat that I mixed with the chili-garlic to become palatable).

the basil-citrus turkey was ok. very basil-y. the sweet chipotle is as close to "normal" jerky as you will get if you like sweet-spicy jerky. the chili-lime was by far the best. it was very zesty!

I'll skip this round though. This is the only brand of jerky i've crossed where almost none of the flavors are ok for a low-carb diet. I still have two bags waiting around for a day that I break the diet and yet still feel like eating slabs of meat. hope these guys learn to ease up on the sugar and syrup!

not to diss woot, but this is one product with which i've made my fastest decision to not purchase. when it comes to jerky, i'd purchase a pound of michael symon's (an iron chef) "best thing i ever ate, salty" jerky from ohio. google it to get the URL. Expect to pay about $20/lb for the *best* jerky you've ever had. sorry woot

You'll find this to always be the case on all the Woot forums....people absolutely tell it like it is and pull no punches when it's a bad product, and you can trust the praise when it's a good one (with the occasional exception of during woot-off "killers.")

Reading before clicking has never failed me....sometimes tipping the scales to buy if I'm on the fence (and always happy I did based upon others' positive comments); sometimes preventing me from making an impulsive mistake. The mods are awesome in allowing frank feedback....even bad. That is VERY unlike most sites, which delete negative feedback on their own products. The Woot forums are more like an impartial review site in that regard. But a MUCH more fun group!!!!

Re your avatar: you can go to your profile by clicking on yourself (don't do that too much or you'll go blind!) and choosing from the set of unique avatar choices made available to you....and only you...by the Inglourious Woot gods. Or, you can upload your own.

I hope that was said tongue-in-cheek, as ALL of these are very HIGH-carb snacks, and contain especially bad carbs to boot. These would never be appropriate for any part of a low-carb approach to dietary lifestyle.

Read the nutrional facts, high sugar content especially since a serving size is 1 oz. Low carb no way.

Yes, I think y'all are just as sweet as KRAVE jerky....with their high amounts of regular (refined white) sugar, brown sugar, corn syrup, corn syrup solids, modified corn starch, maltodextrin, and even evaporated cane juice. =P
(Although, that last one's not half bad, especially as low on the list as it is.)

But at least y'all are sweet in a GOOD way!

Eh, only one of them would qualify as a low-carb snack (the one with 2g of sugar per serving).

How they managed to create jerky that has a 1:1 and even 2:1 carb to protein ratio is beyond me.

I just noticed your comment....

I fervently hope and pray that you are not allowing your DIABETIC daughter to eat these!!!! If so, you both need some serious review on what constitutes "low-carb" in general, and ESPECIALLY for diabetics. ONE BITE of these has enough sugar (in various forms) to send her glucose and insulin levels into a whirlwind.

What you want to let her snack on is PLAIN jerky.....meat, slight spices.

In case I wasn't clear (I have an advanced medical degree with tons of nutritional biochemistry background, btw): DIABETIC PEOPLE CANNOT EAT THESE!!!!....EVER!!!!.....Not even "occasionally" or "just a bite." (And if you eat them on a regular basis, don't be surprised if you quickly gain weight and/or become diabetic yourself.)

Sorry to harp on this but it really burns my hide that foods are produced with so much of really BAD TYPES of sugar to start with, then they try to "hide" the actual amount included by dividing it up into different parts on the ingredient list in order to avoid having to list it as the FIRST ingredient!!!!

Ordered 3 sets first time this was offered as my family LOVES beef jerky.

We tried them all but the only one we liked was the teriyaki smoked jerky, no one would touch the others...just too heavily fruit flavored. Wound up donating the unopened packs to my son's Boy Scout troop (since Boy Scouts on a campout will eat just about anything).

I'll pass this time around.
