I bought a pair. Maybe they were defective or something? The sound was TERRIBLE, truly ridiculously bad, worse than free earbuds. Also made of junky plastic all throughout.

The noise canceling itself was pretty normal, adequate. So maybe if you just want to wear them on an airplane to create silence, they might be OK, just don't expect to watch a movie or listen to music with them.

Posted this once before:

Bought a set, plugged in the microphone and called into a teleconference. Attendees on the line said they heard a lot of noise on the line. Didn't realize it was from my headset until I tested it by calling myself from a cellphone.

When I put the headset call on MUTE, the noise went away. When I unMUTED the headset call, the noise immediately returned! And it was quite loud! Sounded like standing outside with wind blowing.

When I spoke into the mic, I got a major echo effect! Same result with just the mic plugged into the phone.

If you want to listen in on a teleconference, then put on MUTE and it works fine. However, don't plan on joining in on the conversation!

The noise canceling feature works well when listening to music. However, the quality of sound does not compare to true high fidelity headphones like Sennheiser HD448.

Biggest waste of $49.99 so far on Woot!!! Words can't express how disappointed I am with Woot and this POC!

That is one freaky-looking head! Whoever picked that one should be watched, professionally analyzed, and watched more closely...maybe assigned their own personal TSA gate into the office (or plexiglassed-off section of the office...AIRHOLES PEOPLE! OSHA & EEOC would be PO'd if an employee were smothered to death based simply on their freaky taste in heads).

I wonder, how would these do for cancelling small-caliber target shooting noises so i could really enjoy the Floyd?

I stayed with my parents after my 3rd divorce and these really helped keep out my parents bedroom noises when I tried to sleep. I think I swent through batteries within a week. Also helped me ignore my mom when she wold chew me out for not having a job or helping around the house. After a while, she would just leave when she saw me put them on. I might get my dad a pair so that she won't have to listen to my mom's bedroom noises because he probably finds it as annoying as me when he tries to sleep. Maybe a pink one just to annoy her. Regardless, the white noise is great although it tends to inflate the amplitude of the Guasssian curve.

These sound great, the noise cancelling isn't all that effective but still there. I don't know about the mic, but the headphones alone are sweet. I would buy a 2nd pair if they had something besides pink.

She is telling the two male mannequins about everything they've done wrong. Why the sofa needs replacing- why they need more cushions- why they never show their appreciation- why she needs a break out with her friends- and how the mannequin kids have been driving her crazy all day.

The two male mannequins are silently trying to figure out why they agreed to pose with this lady-mannequin in the first place.

Are we sure this isn't blue man group 1.0?

I have had these for several months and use them in my office for watching netflix afterhours since my office is right next to the master bedroom. I think the sound quality is pretty good for the price point. I wish the connecting cable was just a few inches longer. My PC faces away from my desk but my mic/headphone jacks are on the front of my PC so it is just a few inches too short but easily remedied with an extender. When you use the mic, it has own cable permanently connected to the mic, so you cannot use the cable that comes with the headset to extend. Other than that, I like them quite a bit, they are comfortable and I have no complaints.

Unfortunately you need something a little bit more effective here.

Have you tried normal ear plugs? They work wonders, granted then you don't get music or anything.

sure wish there were more comments about quality, performance and information from people who own them. The comments about the mannequins are childish and useless. I mean one or two is ok and I myself has posted " is this compatible with a Acme Garden Plow." People need to come up with their own funny comments and stop just following the sheep and posting tha same thing over and over.

From what I find on reviews from other sites (Epinions) the cord is 5ft.

Here is a link to a plad version that says cable length = 5ft.

What you found is for a different model. The XNC230B.

The woot is for the NXC230. 78" cord.

I bought three pairs of these during a previous Woot. My husband and I are gamers and we use them nightly. Sound has been fantastic on ours and friends commented how much better our voice quality was. Comfortable - they didn't pinch my ears to my head. The cord from the mic to the PC is pretty short. I have headset/mic output on my keyboard so that wasn't a big deal to me, but if you don't you will either want an extender or to have your tower on your desk. I would never pay 100+ for them, but I felt they were a great deal at the 40 something I paid last time.

3 months in, one of the headphones stopped working, this may have been abuse from my kids during the day, I buy headphones expecting them to die.

I still bought 3 more pairs at this price -- but just a heads up their warranty states you must register the headset within 30 days of purchase to qualify for an RMA. Bottomline: Much better than anything else you could get for sub $30. Worth the purchase.

I just measured my cord on the mike with a tape measure, it is 4' 8" when you add the adapter to go from a single plug into a separate mic and speaker plug, you get an additional three inches for 4' 11" or there abouts.
