Could you please give a few more specifics about the "supplies" for the model that's being offered here on WOOT? Specifically:

* can you please give the model (or some ID) of the ink cartridge ('sold everywhere' does not let me look it up for price, longevity, etc. -- i.e., is this a type of fluid ink cartridge, a ballpoint pen insert, or ???)
* thanks for the specifics on the battery (from your FAQs: "SR41").
* how long does a battery charge last?
* how many recharges?
* what is the "refill extractor" that is listed in the packaging? (And why do I need two of 'em?)

And it does work on ordinary paper, yes? No special paper/pad needing to be bought or printed for it to work on.

Thanks!

I am always amused at those people who think that Amazon has come in and totally changed the way Woot does business BUT for some reason decided not to change the one area that Amazon truly excels in - the servers.

That the servers keep crashing and otherwise not work perfectly Amazonian-like is proof to me that they are not micromanaging. I believe they are either totally hands-off, simply are lending their immense buying power to enable Woot to get even better deals.

Having previously owned one for a couple years, agreed.

But this is a thread about the pen, so I'll leave it there.

I'm just hanging out, really.

So to clarify, this pen can be used to record the written information, and then it can be converted into different fonts? I am wondering because I outline a lot and rewriting quotes is a bit time consuming. Would this convert my notes into times new roman, or whatever font I want?

pike513 wrote:(Apen Employee) - Anything you write or draw is stored on the receiver for you to sync with your PC or "M a c" later. Or you can hook it up to your iOs devise, with the free app what you write or draw on paper is real time written on your iOs devise...much more accurate over a capacitive pen or even finger(which gets sore). My favorite feature is, in class I can take my notes then use the OCR software to convert my doctor-esq handwritten notes to digital text..then I save my notes into a word document.

This is also better than a wacom tablet pen since you need a pc with you while using...this is wireless to work all you need is the pen and receiver. Have FUN WOOOTT

HOld on! You said anything my kid draws it can handle and then convert it on the PC? She draws cats fishing on a boat.. It can capture that?

Given that WebOS peaked at like 8% market share in 2009 and has only steadily decreased since then I'm not sure what metric you're using for "more popular" but hey, good for you for keeping on banging that drum. :P

Ipad art programs allow you to enlarge the picture you are working on so as to give the line greater detail. You just pinch out.

I don't know about other apps though.

I am waiting see see how long before your latest post is disappeared.

Anyway, I wonder how and if the pen is superior to an app that could take a photo of handwriting on a piece of paper and process that to produce similar results.

I know with the photo approach- Con: 1. would probably be limited in certain ambient lighting conditions, 2. would require an extra step in that taking the photo is required. Pro: 1. the photo and processing could be done after the fact as long as you don't lose the paper. With the pen: con - 1. requires an extra gizmo. possible pro: higher resolution??

Agree. As a member since 2007, I would say they seem to be running things the same as they always have, but if there was one thing I have noticed it is that the deals aren't as good. They are always ok, but not the steals like it seems they used to be. They will be just slightly better than what you can find elsewhere so you're left debating if the slightly better px is worth the wait for snail-post shipping.

I would also say that it seems like the woot-off stuff is krappier, not as fun and obscure.

And the final thing I have noticed is that the discussions used to be full of utterly hilarious posts and photos/images - now that is a rarity. And that's a change in the community, not the company.

The site is still fun though. Everyone where I work still comments on the item of the day.

Timing is everything - especially when wOOting!

Sooooo.... No shipping to Hawaii??!?

Hawaii (and Alaska) are shown on the sales map, so why no option to ship to Hawaii? I could understand if this was something huge (like the mattresses) or heavy (like a Dyson vac.), but, seriously, a PEN?!!

I'm really disappointed I was not able to buy an A Pen yesterday. When I tried to make my purchase I kept getting a message that Woot had taken their site down for maintenance. We kept trying all evening to no avail. I contacted Woot and was basically told "sucks to be you. Woot really let me down on this one.

Well, thanks to this thread I got information about the refills. I couldn't find it in the manual at first. Tiny print ;P But they aren't really "standard" refills. They are classed as mini pen refills. Found a good source for them: Monteverde Liquid Mini Ballpoint Refill

http://www.coloradopen.com/product/monteverde-liquid-mini-ballpoint-refill/ballpoint-refills#

Eleven colors, some in broad and medium.

Hope this helps someone! =D
