Will the finish scratch if used as a doorstop?

Specs say down to 35hz....no way a two inch speaker can effectively go that low. 100hz is the best one could expect for this size of speaker.

Is any thing that Woot sells good?

CA stuff is usually decent. I would buy it if it was a 2.1 with a sub.

"Frequency Response: 35Hz to 20kHz"

Without a tolerance (like +/- 3db) frequency response is meaningless. It may well produce sounds as low as 35Hz, but they are going to be so quiet you won't be able to hear them unless that's all there is, it's cranked up, and you hold your ear right next to it.

It's just common sense that a 2" driver isn't going to produce decent lows.

I have a pair on my desk right now. They're decent. I'm not an audiophile but they sound like they have decent range. Better than some other speakers I have but worse than another Cyber Acoustics setup I have with a subwoofer. They are (or were) $9.99 at Office Depot so this might be a marginal deal for 1 pair. Better get 3 pairs.

I'm not so sure a 2" speaker can physically produce a 35Hz sound wave let alone much of anything below, say... 100Hz. And if so it certainly won't "like" doing so. But at the price point I bet they have adequate sound reproduction as long as you aren't "crankin' it"!

If nothing else, I can use them for DIY projects. In for three (never thought I'd say that...).

I'm in for 3...I will put a set in the garage to listen to my mp3 player and another for the back deck...ect. You can never have too many crappy cheap speakers around. Heck I think I will put the 3rd one in the guest bedroom. Lap of luxury

How are they from the headphone jack? (I bought a cheap set of speakers for my office computer recently -- don't remember the brand right now -- and they've got a very annoying buzz through the headphone jack.)

Anyone know the overall opinion of CA audio gear? I feel like a shill - I swear I'm not - but I've been fairly happy with their stuff. Got these models of speakers, a 2.1 setup for a TV, and even some of their earbuds. They all sound decent enough to me and are dirt cheap. Am I just missing something that a real audiophile would hear and I don't?

Feels like old times to me. Woot used to sell computer speakers like this all the time back in the day and they'd sell out fast. Those were the days and now they're long gone. Progress isn't always a good thing

Well, as an audiophile, I use a set of Klipsch Promedia 2.1 ($150)for av/dvd editing on my PC. If you are looking for full range and extra clean you will need to spend more money. I am looking for a cheep 2.1 system for my wife to watch movies on in the bedroom.
Not that kind of movies...
