While not a Bose fan at all, I have to take exception here. Bose noise reducing headphones (Quiet Comfort series) are still the standard by which all other active noise cancellation headphones are measured. These aren't noise cancelling per se, but I see where the OP was going.

Speaking of, the writeup makes a point. Did anybody see a review in which the noise isolation of these was addressed? How quiet will they be on the aircraft? Will I not hear the screaming kid, or will I be wishing Boeing installed an air lock on 767s.

I did see this winner in the giz review. "Wearing them makes you feel like you're resting your head between Sofia Vergara's chest and Kim Kardashian's backside." I'm not sure if this is erotic or nauseating. Or both.

EDIT: On the gdgt meta reviews, they get 8.0/10 from users for noise isolation, and 9.6/10 from the critics. So pretty good, in other words.

LOL. Its true. And how did you know I was just about to request Free Bird?

That said, I have tried these out (albeit briefly) at the Apple store, and they are pretty fantastic. They definitely beat the crap out of the Beats line.

And at $75 including shipping, these really are a steal. Wish I wasn't in school right now...

While you were at the Apple Store - Did/Will they work with an iPad 2?

Yes, they do adjust. The adjustments for head size are hidden on the earcups. It is where the headband attaches to them.

Being sonic does make them way better for sound.

I tried ultra-sonic headphones once... don't waste your time; couldn't hear a thing.

I agree. Where is the mic?

Can someone tell me where the mic is?

Confirmed with someone that could get his hands on these. As mentioned above, the MIC is in the cable, same spot as the volume control.

THIS x 1000.

The Sony v6 cans are possibly the best value in headphones ever, and routinely kick the a$$ (ears?) off of way higher priced cans.

I have had lots of headphones, and these don't seem to measure up. ONLY 20 Hz with 40mm diaphragms? Come on!

Are these "noise reduction" headphones? I listen to piano jazz and classical music on airplanes, and need a lot of ambient noise reduction to get the detail in the music.

While these phones don't have active noise cancellation, they do provide very good isolation from noise. In addition, they are the most comfortable headphones I've ever used, bar none. In particular, the headband is very well padded. When you're bald like me, that's important. ;-)

And to answer an earlier question, they're very comfortable when worn over glasses. I've watched three-hour movies while wearing these phones without feeling any discomfort--and that's something I can't say about any other headphones I've owned (and I've tried a lot over the years).

Sound quality? Hey, I'm no golden-ears audiophile, but they sound excellent to me for both music and videos. I paid $150 for a pair of these a couple of months ago, and they were worth it. At this price, they're a steal.

Ahhh yes but if you were wearing these as an accessory to your pajamas there would not be an issue. Furthermore 1) I don't get the paper and 2) I don't care what my neighbors think.

This is perhaps the most perfect woot! ever. I've been looking for a good head-sound device, sound quality wise, that was also especially comfortable; headphones always hurt my ears after a little while, and even ear buds get uncomfortable 1hour+. Pretty much limits me to speakers...hopefully these are as comfy as they look. I can deal with the less than insane bass, if they sound crisp and don't hurt my ears.
