Mock all you like, but I am a full time musician on the road, and these actually sound like a cool idea. Not so sure about this set made of plastic crap, but for all the nights I'm forced to stay in some less than sanitary hotels, this would be a godsend, and a lot easier than carrying separate sheets.

I've heard that this idea was invented (or at least popularized) by Thomas Jefferson. In his day, when one spent an overnight visit with a friend, one not only slept in the friend's bed, but often with the friend still in it. Hence Jefferson's need for a clean bed bag. They seem quite handy for those times when you're crashing with someone and you think that mess under the couch is ...moving....

Seriously though, these are FABBALUSS for traveling. We used them when we were in Europe staying in youth hostels. If you've ever stayed in them, you know that they're kind of hit or miss. The one I have is a microfiber so it was easy to hand launder and dry, don't know about this one, looks satin(?)

You sound like someone who would really benefit from using a Dreamsack. As mentioned by others earlier, the Dreamsacks were invented years ago, and are made of silk, which stays pretty cool in hot places, and warm in cold places. The Dreamsacks are manufactured right here in the town where I live, and they're made by a great company. They are more expensive than these cheapos, but are well worth it for someone who uses them often. I have no connection to this company, but have known about it a long time, and have owned Dreamsacks and given them as gifts. The company is now named Yala.com. They carry many different colors, plus different styles.

I think this will work perfectly as a sheet/cover for my shiki futon and Costco Trifold mat. I've been buying full flat sheets and taking them to a tailor to sew for me.

You're right, they sound fab and if not how much do they cost?

I believe it's a synthetic satin or satin without any cotton as someone was whining about.

Not directed at you, I love cotton too but for $5 what do for those knocking it expect? It's not the 1000, 1200 or 1500 TC cottom sheets some of us use . It has alot of uses for guests or ourselves if you use. If you can't find a use you have no imagination.

Dare you to find just a set of sheets for this price! Let alone two of the "toss it in the sleeping bag" or "protect me from whomever slept on these last" hotel sheets
But also emergency clean sheets for the last minute guest to sleep on the couch or pull out.

Just perfect for travelling through the European hostels. Pays for itself the first few times you have to rent sheets, and there's nothing like your own linen when you bed down for the night.

I have a brilliant idea, I'm working on. It's something I would like to call "the sock."

Essentially, it's the same concept as the Dreamie. However, with my invention, you can carry it with you even more easily. You can hide the "sock," within another invention of mine, called "the shoe."

The only drawback so far is that it has this tendency to always have one of the socks (they're sold in pairs) disappears in dryers. Haven't figured that one out yet, but the guys in research tell me they're close to a breakthrough.

The boys in R&D have solved your problem! Basically, it's your "socks" but made really long so they stretch all the way up the leg, then they're sewn together at the top, with a hole to get into them. They're thin and insulating like socks, but there's only of them so they're harder to lose... we'll do for the single sock what we did for the single pant!

It's not SUPPOSED to be a sleeping bag. Okay, technically, it is a "bag" you sleep in. But it's not meant to provide the insulation/warmth of a sleeping bag. What it IS wonderful for is avoiding ringworm and bed bugs and anything else creepy or crawly when staying somewhere other than your home. (Or I guess even in your home, but if you have that problem you may want to spend your money on an exterminator instead...) Anyway, my Dad got bites staying at a 3.5 (out of 4) star hotel! (Have you seen the news reports on the resurgence of bed bugs at even the finest hotels?) Ever since then, we all use these when we travel and sleep with peace of mind.

fyi- there is no way a thin sheet is going to protect you from bedbugs.

MOD - Don't know if this helps, but I sometimes like to sleep with my head under the pillow and I hate feeling trapped in my sheets, so I'm going to mod these. You'll need a pair of good scissors. Cut the pillow pocket so it's not attached to the main sheet. Then on the main sheet, where the side and bottom are closed, cut along those seams. Now, with your modded Dreamie, you sleep your way. Modding these opens up tons of possibilities.

My kids are off to sleep away camp for the first time. The dreamy pillow pocket is perfect to muffle their sobs and the fabric, while uncomfortable, looks like it will absorb many desperate little tear drops. In for two!

But then you realize you can get practically the same material and functionality at $10 for 40. Glad Garbage Bags! Some even come reinforced with ForceFlex for those of you who toss and turn a lot. They also have a nice drawstring at the top for adjustability, or easier disposal of unwanted guests.

Definitely in for 6 total because I see these as great containment for a certain family member who SERIOUSLY needs to keep their gascapades to themselves. Now they can wrap up and enjoy their own waft...sealed up in a silky snort chamber. I foresee their own deep breathing... fava-bean-style; relishing in their own stench as though enjoying a fine wine.

I used one of these while in a less than luxurious area of a South American country. I slept better knowing my own coccoon from home was around me. Spiders the size of your hand. Nuf said.

Might be good for the youth hostel as a sleep sack. Often no pillow there, also. I will probably send one to my daughter for when I sleep on their sofa. The gnomes want you to know if you display their beautiful vegetables they wont steal your covers.

Bed bugs and lice I might understand, but scabies? And ticks?? Are you sleeping in the 1800s?

I'm ordering three because these will be perfect to send with my kids to summer camp. Sleeping bags are always too hot in the middle of summer and this way their top sheet won't end up wadded up or falling off the bunk.

Sateen material always makes me need to apply lotion. Remember those cheap waterbed sheets from the 80s? Same material.

Sorry to upset, disappoint, and terrify you, but these lil things are NOT going to protect you from bedbugs. Bedbugs live in mattresses and pillows, they have no trouble at all making their creepy little way around the mattress pad, fitted sheet, pillowcases, and assorted bedding. What's one more sheet to them? These are, however, EXCELLENT little devices for taking bedbugs HOME with you. Unlike a normal blanket or sheet, which can be shaken and spread out, the closed, sock-like container of this item is difficult to inspect for bedbug poo.

That isnt to say you shouldnt get one. If you question the cleanliness of a hotel's sheets, if you get stuck out on the couch, if you're sick off your spouse putting his or her icy feet on your legs, by all means, these are great for that. But bedbugs- not so much. To avoid bedbugs, LOOK for bedbugs. Pull your bed at the hotel apart, check the sides of your mattress- especially along the seams- for black-brownish flecks. This is bedbug poo. And if you find it- move at least 2 rooms away on either side and check again.

Got a couple to use as sleeping bag liners. Trying to wash a dirty camping sleeping bag is a lot harder than pulling out a liner and washing that.

If you're ever going to be staying in hostels (e.g. on a trip to Europe, although they also exist in the US), one of these is a must have. You are typically not allowed to use a sleeping bag in a hostel, because sleeping bags don't get washed often enough and can therefore be a transportation mechanism for bedbugs. So you have to use sheets, and you have three choices: 1) rent sheets (if there are any available), 2) bring your own sheets (but a set of sheets is pretty heavy if you're carrying it in a backpack), or 3) bring a sheet sack. The third option is the preferred one.

I had a ton of trouble finding thesea few years ago. Most european hostels require you to brng your own sheets, or did at the time. A cotton "cocoon" sleeping bag liner was the only altrnative I found to the silk dreamsacks. I paid about $20 for the cocoon at the time.

This is tempting. I often sleep in my own living room (I don't know why I like doing that... it's like having a slumberparty by myself... wow...that's sad) or, when I travel and stay with my brother, on the couch. With summer approaching, blankets or sleeping bags will be a bit heavy. Heck, I'm going to try these out!
