Gee, when I went to a hostel, they were called sleep sacks. And it came with a drawstring.

So this comes with a pocket for a pillow. I suppose that's novel as you get a continuous personal sleep surface.

I got one of these in a box of crudites. It's actually much nicer than my hostel sheets. "Plus-sized" hostel sheets are crazy expensive...and usually end up twisted around funny if you turn while you sleep. But the "cheapo fleece" of this will actually stay "sleeping bagged" around you.

When it's not traveling with me... I use it to nap in the back of my car during my lunch hour.

QUOTE<tapoe: So...if a Dreamie and a Snuggie got married and had children, would they be Druggies?>

That's a female Snuggie and a male Dreamie.
When you cross a male Snuggie with a female Dreamie you get a SnuMie (pronounced 'Sue Me', since you have to be caught in the act to be found guilty of heresy)..

Poly sateen 100% polyester.

I'm in for one (two?) since I'm planning to crash at a friend's place abroad. Would be nice to have my own traveling sheet and pillow case set (not to mention it looks very travel friendly).

I'm trying to figure out if these would be good for the kids to take with them to sleep away camp. They usually have to take their own sheets for the bunkbeds. But is the "satin-like" fabric too femme for my little boys? I don't want them to go away and get teased.

*I* have FIVE Quality Posts! no, seriously...how did that happen?!

I don't know about you guys, but when I use a sleeping bag, its usually the outside that's more dirty than the inside when I'm finished.

You don't happen to be related to Pigpen, perchance?

NOT FOR HOTEL BEDBUGS

If the hotel sheets don't protect you from bedbugs, why would this?

More importantly, why would you want to drag this home with you after - increasing the risk of infecting your own home with bedbugs?

People are silly. That's why we have bedbugs.

With the bed bug problem this would be ideal for someone who has to travel and stay in various hotels and motels for business. Your own personal sheets that you know are clean.

In for three. Great to throw in the travel trailer.

If you use them in a hotel be sure to exit the hotel with your sleepysack in a nice sealed plastic bag destined for a hot wash as soon as you get home.... otherwise you'll be taking the bed bugs/fleas home with ya.

hilary wrote:Sleeping bags may be too hot, but this stuff is made of "poly-sateen" which is a slippery-feeling polyester. Polyester is terrible in the summer because it traps heat and doesn't breathe. A warm-weather sleeping bag will be a lot more comfortable temperature wise than a bag made out of polyester.

Yeah - that's my concern, but I'm hopeful that it'll be somewhat breathable. But I figured for $5, it should be good enough for my kid/sleepovers at least. It's certainly cheaper than the $60 silk sleeping bag liner I've got now.

In for 4. Forget the towels! One for each member of the family for those long lazy days on the beach this summer. This is a great way to save money on sunscreen, by being cocooned. Sweating inside the poly-sateen will also help each of us lose those last annoying 200 lbs! When the kids in the family get annoying, I will just strap one of these on their boogie boards and send them off to sea, umm, I mean sleep...

In for one. I'm going to a third world country for a few weeks and I have no idea what the condition of the hotels will be. These are cheap enough to where I can just leave behind the one I use and not have to worry about bringing bed bugs back home.

My daughter got scabies sleeping at hostels in Europe 4 years ago. so I got her one of these afterwards for travelingk and just picked up 3 sets for the rest of the family.

This is a great deal, especially if you have kids who like to sit in front of the TV with all of their bedding stuff. Sears had this same item in leopard stripes, and a zebra pattern, but the cost was $20.00. I'm willing to sacrifice "cute" for the cost saving.

I am going to get them. Just for the idea that the pillow slot is attatched. Ever had to sleep on a overstuffed leather couch and the pillow keeps popping away from your head on the smooth leather every time you move? If your body is anchoring it should stay? Right?

I have a brilliant idea, I'm working on. It's something I would like to call "the sock."

Essentially, it's the same concept as the Dreamie. However, with my invention, you can carry it with you even more easily. You can hide the "sock," within another invention of mine, called "the shoe."

The only drawback so far is that it has this tendency to always have one of the socks (they're sold in pairs) disappears in dryers. Haven't figured that one out yet, but the guys in research tell me they're close to a breakthrough.

Most hostels won't let you use sleeping bags. These are perfect so that you won't have to "rent" sheets from the hostel.

I was a chaperone at a camp for boys 12-17 last summer. They were all high-fiveing the kid that brought silk sheets. I think they will be fine.

Why not just bring a queen-sized sheet and pillowcase with you when you travel? Just fold the sheet in half. You probably already have these in much better quality fabric.

So really, in summary,

Pros:

1. Easy to carry.
2. More portable than a sleeping bag.
3. Holds the pillow in place.
4. Easily washed.
5. Can use basically anywhere.
6. Very low price.

Cons:

1. Too thin.
2. Cheap polyester weaving means early pilling.
3. Skin-feel is somewhat hit and miss.
4. Offers little to no insulation?

I'd ideally use this, as other suggested, in hotels like Motel 6; Occasionally on a hammock; lounge chair.

By the way, you can get this for cheaper on Amazon for $7.99 with Amazon Prime shipping, compared to $4.99+$5 shipping = $9.99.
