Yeah but Johnny Sokko was a Japanese show on American TV - Ultraman was cool and I believe a robot

WALL-E? C3PO? Pris, Johnny-5, Robocob, etc. etc. etc...

Did half of the commenters here not bother actually reading the question? Television robots, people. Not movies.

On that note, does Automan count? Technically, he was a computer program that generated a "hologram", but that hologram could interact with the physical world like a real thing, so that's kind of like a robot. I loved that show when I was a kid. Which reminds me, KITT from Knight Rider was technically a robot. He had a car for a body, rather than something anthropomorphic, but robots aren't required to look like people.

I take back my Automan vote. I going team KITT.

My vote has to go to the pre-cog Robot from Lost in Space. This robot was able to detect danger before it occurred and had an off switch for when it was out of control.

BSG Cylons certainly would get my vote if they were logical. They weren't. Most robots are never presented as being patient. Same holds true for Erasmus in the recent Dune books by Kevin J. Anderson and Brian Herbert. Only Marvin and R. Daneel R. Olivaw have the patience I expect in my robots.

Robby doesn't count since I'm sure someone above has pointed out that Forbidden Planet and The Invisible Boy were movies though it made a few TV appearances but not with the Forbidden Planet abilities. Check the thread/poll title again.

Marvin definitely should have been on the poll,

He probably wasn't because the mediocre film disinterested many people from Adams' wonderfully crafted series.
