Yes, I agree on earlier postings about having the users pick the winners instead of some "powers that be" judges who we know nothing about they just pick whatever they want. I mean I know this is their site but I tihnk that would be more fair and fun to be selected by peers. Like I saw a bunch of places where a peer would congratulate another on a job well done, and others would agree. Note: I didn't see any peer congrats on any of these three "winners"

Ideally, there would be some kind of system that weights both, though I'm not sure a pure user vote would be the best. It could be manipulated (since registration is free and instantaneous), and it would lead to something even more annoying than first-pagers: politicking for votes. I think the winning entries were good, but I'm surprised to see so many people get behind one entry and not have it win anything. My guess is that the few people carping about it not being on-theme might have done it in.

Although I don't agree with your choices this time, I have seen worse entries praised by others in past contests.

Well I saw one suggestion that said maybe a top 10 should be suggested and then we can vote on those from there. Or maybe they should make separate registration that is closed for the people who vote on the contests. Or they could make it to where you could only vote in the contest of you yourself have entered something, that would keep people from abusing and just multi registering to vote theirs up.

Like on http://www.photoshopcontest.com/ they have a user vote system with a closed registration, and it's really neat because you can vote for someone and then comment, and under each picture you can see who voted for you and the comments there. But I couldn't compete there, those are the big dogs, even their worst entries are better than anything i've ever done, these are pro's. And the woot ones people have a lot more fun because we try to make it funny and fun and their all business there.

Ya I agree, the winners picked were not extremely creative, and therefore should not have come near winning due to their crappy photoshop job.

And to the whiny ass losers get the "F" over it! It is Woots contest and they can run it or judge it however they want. And that is half the fun seeing what Woot thinks deserves the nod from them.
