No, because Sansas tended to cost around $20.

This fertilizer is rubbish. I've got an Android already, I have no need for a duplicate. Cheap, throwaway MP3 players, however, I always have need for.

That's why I have stopped frequenting Woot.

32GB is useless. These things are too procreateing fragile to be used as actual MP3 players or carried around with you. It is a portable computer. And it takes some doing to fill 8GB of App space.

I prefer refurb for apple too but this not NOT an apple refurb dont be fooled an apple refurb comes with 1 year warranty it dosent say but it may have cosmetic flaws and woot wont return for that Reason also oy never states who actually refurbed these units that woot sells it never does when it shows 90 warranty so buyer beware the one I received looked like a best buy buyback upgrade one bring in your old stuff we will give you credit for your old one alot of sites are selling these and listed as refurbs. for 20 more get the apple with 1 year warranty and thank me later...nuff said

eldiablohijo wrote:Your make a very valid point, but a phone can do all of that too, in fact an iPhone is an iPod touch that can make phone calls and send text messages. Why would you need both?

Speaking of Sansas I have one sitting in my laptop bag that I don't think I've taken out in almost two years. If i'm not streaming music on my laptop then I just sync some music down from Google Music on my phone and listen to that.

If you use devices as means of self-empowerment and knowledge instead of mindless entertainment, you can't beat a basic MP3 player like a Sansa.

Books, lectures, motivational material, self-hypnosis tracks. It is an indispensable tool for actively programming your mind.

An iTouch will do all this too, except it's a PITA to load MP3s on, is impossible to safely control while driving, and costs 1000% the price.

It's a touch, ie a phoneless iphone, ie a portable handheld computer (crippled by Apple's douchiness).

Still a pretty nifty device, even if I much prefer vanilla MP3 players for their ease of management and if you lose/break it you won't be too sad.

If this is the same refurb company that did the 8G iPod Touch about a month ago - BEWARE. The one that I got had 3rd party headphones that looked like OEM Apple ones and a 3rd party USB cable that wouldn't charge it.

Kind of useless when the battery finally goes dead. Even worse - Woot sent me another USB cable that was also bad. This one wouldn't even transfer data OR charge it.

With a third cable on the way, the iPod started giving the message that its temperature was too high and it had to cool down before I could use it. This was after it was in standby for over 2 hours and was cool to the touch.

Got an RMA and sent it back. I'm still waiting for the refund for more than a week now.

that is true but only if it fails within the 90 days and will not return for cosmetic reasons in other words if it looks like a 5 year old ipod which the one I bought did called woot and they would not return for cosmetic reasons having bought apple refurbs before I expected better quality

Hope you don't need to make a call after your battery dies from excessive jamming!

Seriously though, that's why a small, cheap dedicated mp3 player is a good supplement to your smart phone. It's light-weight and you can listen to it all day and your phone will still have a charge to do Internet/email/etc... plus calls.

iPod is not a small, cheap, dedicated mp3 player, though.

There's an app for that.

LeakFrogs have been sold out for years on Woot! There's a LeapFrog app though for this iTouch. Just get a few of these, turn on the app, and lay the iTouch where you want to protect from water leaks. If there's ever a leak, or even too much humidity, the Touch screen won't turn on and the edges will start to corrode with a rust-like substance. No annoying ribbiting sound with the new LeakFrog app for iDevices.

I just want to know why people think this is so uncompetitively priced? Its a present, 4th gen device. Goes for $339.99 on apple.com 3rd gen goes for $249.99 With shipping, that puts it at $120 less than from apple direct. Seems like a pretty good deal to me (assuming it doesn't fertilizer out after 91 days)

Wow WOOT! Whats goin on here? This is not only a way too high of a price but its not even a true apple refurb, which as we all know by now is like rolling the dice and hoping your one of the 20% that gets one that works for more then a week.

Woot, why charge so much?(yes, I see you lowered the price but its still cheaper elsewhere even after you lowered the price and they are either new or true apple refurbs, not these 3rd party refurbs that have such a ridiculously high failure rate)

Isnt this supposed to be the place to get deals cheaper then we can get them elsewhere? Lately that just doesnt seem to be the case...Lately, it seems your prices are far higher and quality of items sold are far less.

I see many making the same comments concerning the lack of good deals lately as well as the lack of quality in the products....

Is this the future of woot?

I hope not as not many will pay more for lesser quality when they can buy exact same item for cheaper and far better quality, assuming they are refurbs. Have you guys even looked in to why so many refurb products of late have had so many issues?

You can tell faster than that. If an iDevice contacts water, there are actual water detectors just inside the ports that turn red, so you can look for those. These are the red indicators that an Apple rep will look for so that they can tell you that you just voided your warranty because it doesn't cover water damage. I am not making this up.

(but not speaking from experience thankfully, still using a 3-year-old iPhone 3GS that's running like a champ)

I have one of these. I absolutely love it. It is the first apple product I have ever bought. I use it everyday through my car stereo, walking my dog, exercising, you name it. Buy a screen protector and a cover or vinyl wrap from amazon. They are dirt cheap. I don't regret it for a second.

I prefer to use it for the app games over my phone so that I don't run down my phone's battery.

woot: $229.99 + $5 + $37.99 = 272.98
woot attempt to look good: $214.99 + $5 +37.99 = $257.98

apple $249.00

WOW what a deal from woot. Yea, thats sarcasm. Since woot got bought by amazon their deal pricing has fizzled. Amazon must be trying to wring every penny out of woot with these so called deals.

Drop the price to $179 and its a woot-able deal.

Edit: with the new price drop to $214.99 , comparison adjusted

This is what always happens when a business is purchased by some other company... If Company X (Amazon) buys company Y (Woot) the first question is what would Y charge X to buy them, it is always based on the value of the company's expected future revenue...

Thus when X buys Y, X must always raise the price of anything Y was selling to ensure that company X makes a profit on the acquisition... or X can lower the quality of products to make for the price paid (happens most often in fast food joints)...

So this was to be expected. M&As are always good for the investment bankers that charge fees for doing them but never good for the customers.
