I love my Roku as well. I just cancelled my cable about a month ago and my Roku with Hulu+ has been a godsend to keep the misses from biting my head off. Most all shows she used to watch are available the next day on this little device.

Wasn't this $59 earlier today or was it a different model?

So this is also a 2050X, like the one that was $59.99 earlier tonight? (I checked the earlier blog post)

Any difference at all?

me too. I mean MY roku...not yours...no...you can't have it. I went the additional PlayOn software route and can get regular Hulu and tons of other stuff plus all my own media...Roku Rocks.

good bye ipod... finally

Have one of these --they're awesome. Has a couple of apps that the Roku 2 doesn't have yet.

This is the Roku XD which does not offer closed captioning from Netflix. The Roku 2 XD does offer CC. In cse anyone was wondering.

I love my Roku, or as I like to call it, the "Poor-Man's DVR" (PM-DVR).

I bought one of these last time and was ridiculously disappointed with it.

Caved and bought a Boxee (albeit, for twice the cost)

Does anyone know if this can store the login info for more than one secured wireless access point?

I've seen these on here a few times and today I wanted to actually learn a little more about it. Too bad the youtube account associated with the product video is no longer active and, like the guy in the description, I'm too lazy to look any further.

Charter hates me. No, really they do. I pay them for internet but I get internet, phone and TV. I have a Roku player to stream Netflix and Amazon Prime VOD. I also buy individual episodes from Amazon for the shows I really want to watch (a 1 day delay + no commercials + pseudo-ownership). I also have an Ooma to have a landline to give to people I don't really want to talk to (or who don't have AT&T so it doesn't waste my minutes). They used to call me a couple times a month trying to sell me on cable and phone packages with my internet and I explained how amazing my setup was and the caller from Charter was forced to admit that what I had was in fact superior to what they were offering and cheaper to boot.

The Roku now has a channel to be able to stream video content from your computer so my WD TV Live+ is feeling more and more useless every day.

These are so great I bought one for my brother and one for my in-laws for Christmas last year. My in-laws have some issue with their internet that allows them to stream Netflix to a 360, but not to their Roku. I didn't believe that was possible and so I contacted tech support. After wading through a few scripted responses I got them to ship me a replacement unit at no charge as I believed it to be defective. So, that's a plus. My brother's and mine work great. I've owned mine for nearly two years now and it gets used a lot.

A fantastic little device. Well worth the price.

I own this model, it's been perfect and easy to use. I wish I'd paid this price rather than $79.99, but that happens.

Feature Comparison on wikipedia.

I had been looking at Rokus and was confused by their naming. This is a Roku XD, not a Roku 2 XD.

Woot's model has an Ethernet port but does not have bluetooth.

Crackle has some stuff and it's free. Otherwise get playon - I think it's ~$50 or so, but it will let you stream from your computer as well as grabbing alot of content from CBS, Fox, Hulu etc. No subscription fee after the up front cost of the software.

...ALAS, nothing available to me in the hinterlands but satellite internet. This just does not work without a faster connection. (also why it is impossible to get a Bunnies Ogling Carrots for me..."HEAVY SIGH").

I've got a staff meeting later on today so i need to get a serious nap in---when the Ooma Telos come up tell them I said they rock too.

My two favorite Woot purchases so far--most used maybe...except for the TiVo...I like that...definitely the refurb Omma hub and the 3 refurb Rokus (one for each TV) are my favorites. But I use the refurb TiVo a lot too.

See y'all later!

I love my Roku... it was cheaper than buying a dongle for my Panasonic and it gets a lot more channels. There are a lot of free movie channels, and content. http://www.roku-channels.com/ for more channel listings

Bought this last Wednesday from Woot, same price. The unit arrived Friday, wow fast delivery. Set up unit, added channels but Netflix would not work. Support forums have posts indicating Netflix problems with this unit, and also the Roku 2.

On Monday, 2 days ago, tried Netflix channel again and Roku must have pushed out a firmwear update because Netflix channel now works. Even over the weekend I could get Netflix via private Playontv channel.

I plan on canceling Cable TV @ the end of the month.
