I want the bag of fun and jolliness. But it would be nice if they had more than 1-3 of them at a time for others to share the enjoyment.

Also captcha sucks...

hydrograffix wrote:Honest opinion on the movies in general? Was thinking about getting this for my 82 year old marine grandfather. Would he enjoy this or is the footage weak?

...ah, a NORMAL comment for which i will answer ~ first of all, it is nice to see and hear that a grandson is so appreciative of his grandfather's service to his country! i applaud him too ~

secondly, these are very informative (not just a bunch of shoot-em-up cowboy hockum) which delves into WHY we got into war(s) and maybe some of you doubters will LEARN something about the history of the country so that you can understand WHY you are able to enjoy your iphony crap...

as a wwii born baby-boomer and vietnam-era us army veteran ~ hooah ~ i found this worth the time and effort to understand where we came from (civil war) to present (vietnam and beyond) and also the 1940s era war movies your grandfather will enjoy as he remembers his youth...buy it, you will NOT regret.

Just picked up 3. They'll make great Father's Day presents, birthdays, etc. Because of the amount of footage involved here, it makes a gift look like a whole lot more than what you paid for. ;P

They might not see it here.

Okay, seriously, Woot, how drunk were you when you bought these? I've been seeing them here for YEARS, and obviously, there are still more.

Also, did the person responsible get fired? Or (more likely imo) promoted?

I bought this set last time and have watched the first few videos. It's good, but no rivoting if you are there for the action. It's great if you are a history buff, however. Lots of old pictures, video where available, historical perspectives, and so forth.

...sorry for your loss but thankful for his service to our country in those 3 wars ~ my dad died in 2007 at 93 and never regretted a minute of his time fighting for his country as a siclian immigrant who came to the US in the 20s. he, like your dad, passed on before i could gets this for him, but my 87 y.o. father-in-law who was in the navy during wwii enjoys them.

You may not be aware, but one of the really hot channels these days is the Military Channel. Standard fare for this channel is loads of war documentaries during the week with a very liberal sprinkling military movies on weekends. Lots of people (I'm one of them) can't get enough of this stuff. If no one watches these documentaries about past wars, how can we avoid future wars? I just bought 3...one for me and 2 as gifts.

I bought this a couple of years ago and shared it with my dad, a WWII Army Infantry vet. For the first time, dad opened up and talked about the war, how he got his Purple Heart and other medals.
Tears came to his eyes when we came accross the Battle of the Bulge. Over 2/3rds of his unit did not survive and he got his Purple Heart. Through this tin box of movies, I learned some serious family history.
