I purchased a dyson off of here and needed the warranty -- it was only 6 months and in fact a month after it expired I needed it again

Love the vacuum when it is working (I have a DC28), but I am surprised at how many times I had to use the warranty during the 6 months (3x) and then needed it right after the warranty had expired.

I thought about this one, but it doesn't have a power wand head for furniture. I have a cat so that's a must. I'll probably go with a local bought Hoover or Eureka so I can return it if it's garbage.

Bought refurbed Dyson DC15 here in 07 - still works great. Doesn't do great job on bare floors, used Roomba ( bought here) for that. Roomba broke. Bought Dyson DC35 here a few months ago. Works great on bare floors.

I am a happy woot customer with more vacuums than I ever thought I would use, let alone own.

I just wooted one of these last week and I'm pretty amazed by it. The only drawback is that I have a dog that sheds an awful lot, so vacuuming the living room requires me to empty the canister at least twice.

Costner wrote:Thats all fine and dandy, but it still doesn't explain why Dyson has such a large number of refurbs available at any given point.

They are nowhere near the top selling vacuum cleaner (due in no small part to their pricepoint), yet they have enough refurbs to stock Best Buys nationwide with reconditioned units!

Do a Google search for refurbished or reconditioned Dyson and you will be presented with numerous options on where to buy them.

When you look at reconditioned units from Hoover, Electrolux, Meile, or other common brands you simply don't see the numbers. That suggests Dyson's have either a higher return rate, a higher failure rate, or a combination of the two.

I'd place money on the fact if you took a survey you would find the biggest reason for a return is "paid $500 for this miracle machine and after using it realized it was just another vacuum with bright colors and a clever marketing campaign".

I used to work at Best Buy and I sold these all the time. They were the top seller for me. The main reason for returns was people complaining they weren't self propelled. They are hard to push on thick carpet because the suction is so strong. My parents have one, I have one, and my brother has one. These vacuums are top of the line. They pick up more than any other and never lose suction.

Lots of them or they wouldn't keep bringing them back. They're the best vacuum around. I own 3. I have 2 uprights and just 1 cannister I bought on here. The cannister is great for jobs that can't be done with an upright like stairs. It did not appear refurbished. Maybe it was a return.

There is a toggle button which engages the brush roller on the bottom of the vacuum. I've had no issues using it on my laminate with the brush roller disengaged.

Apparently, almost everyone who wants a reburfished, overpriced suck bag already has one. Maybe they will finally sell out soon....

Most people don't have thick carpet today unless it's old. I have no problem pushing my uprights and bought the 1st at Best Buy for $499 plus tax. 2nd I was gifted by a relative that preferred a 50 ft central vacuum hose and the 3rd I got on here, cannister for the stairs. That's the only thing that the upright doesn't work well with, stairs be they carpeted or hardwood.

It was done yesterday. I hit the button fast but didn't get it, as usual.

I hit 202 purchases on Woot yesterday. That's since 2006 and I've only gotten the Bunnies Ogling Carrots 3 times. That sucks but I always got junk, hence the name.

Oh, Good Gravy, this is getting WAY old!

"We hear of the conversion of water into wine at the marriage in Cana as of a miracle. But this conversion is, through the goodness of God, made every day before our eyes. I respect your opinion, but independent testing has shown Dyson's don't actually pick up more dirt than other vaccums and they are far from a top of the line vac. If you want top of the line, you buy something like Meile... but you will pay for it. Dysons also can lose suction just like any other vacuum if the hoses become clogged - which does happen. I know they have a clever slogan about never losing suction, but that refers only to the cyclonic chamber... hoses can still get plugged just like any other vacuum.

Considering how many cyclonic vacs are available on the market today, and considering how well Dyson's do in comparison testing (never very well) it would seem people are simply being suckered by the marketing. This is why Dyson is so often referred to as "the Bose of the vacuum cleaner world". Just because they spend more on television commercials and advertisements does not mean they do a better job. Period.

My dyson dc 24 refurb came in nasty. Sand on wheels and dirty ball , with short animal hair all over it. Exhaust smells of cat pee.

I am not a pet owner but if I use this vacuum it makes my home smell like a litter box. My eyes water from pet dander expelled by the exhaust.

No way this unit was inspected, and the home it had been previously used in must be revolting.

I will never buy another refurb. Woot did reach out to start to make it right. We'll see.

I paid by PayPal but woot does not take you to the official PayPal site sO beware it will take the money directly from whatever funding source was set as the default. I tried to cancel by email about an hour after the order was placed and they told me they cannot. I have to return the Dyson after it arrives.this sucks. No pun intended!!

Got mine today. A total piece of junk.

The only piece of metal on the whole thing (the handle) is dented, the brush won't stay running, and the handle pivot latch that you operate with your foot doesn't work properly most of the time. I cannot find one redeeming quality on this plastic nightmare.

First and last experience with both woot and Dyson.

Just took a quick look at mine...wheels, ball, hose, and canister seem to be used (not cleaned)...but in good(like new condition). I checked all filters and they appear to be new. I guess this stuff is made to suck up dust and dirt so can't complain too much about a little grit in the hose.

Crossing my fingers that my apt will not smell of the last owner's cat! :/
