This is a 3 pack, so it's actually much cheaper than through Amazon.

Not only were those for sale, you can pick them up on eBay for about four bucks. Said the guy who bought a bunch of them thinking they'd be worth something today :P

Secret one-way design? You can only see the cards if they are face-up? What Tiny Flowers does this mean?

They're magic trick cards that you could also use for playing. They have extra "trick" cards... which is why they cost more than normal.

That's not cheaper. That's the same price, but for 1 pack.

It's not a bad deal, and one of my kids loves the Maya people, but I'm low on funds today.

A good way to freak out your poker playing buddies: wait until they've had their fourth or fifth drink and then swap out your regular deck with these. Guaranteed to cause weeping and soiling of pants.

According to Diamond Jim's own Web site, these cards have a "more expensive magic finish that serious card workers prefer".

Agree with the previous poster who said that these are cards designed by and for magicians, but of course you can play a nice game of go fish with them if you like.

These are printed at USPCC so they should be the same high quality as a deck of Bicycles. They also include a couple of gaffs especially of interest to magicians (having been designed and marketed primarily to magicians). This is a reasonable price for collectible cards, not blow-you-out-of-the-water good, but I jumped right on it and would love it if Woot carried more high-quality collectible playing cards. If you're a card magician, you can sometimes go through decks pretty quickly, between wear & tear and just having so many cards signed or torn up or whatever.

If you just want to get something to make your poker buddies "crap their pants", though, I'd go with the Karnival line of cards (expecially the Dead Eyes or Dose decks): http://karnival-inc.com/

A bit expensive, but it sure beats the crap some of the guys are using at our weekly home game.

The cards that come with the chip sets you buy now adays are cheap cardboard, if that even qualifies as cardboard. These will make shuffling much better week to week.

SPAM in the place that you live.

I'll take my chances and will wait until next year to buy these. I am sure that the price on a pack of 2012 Doomsday will be a lot lower in 2013. If there is a 2013 that is...

In magic parlance, it means the designs on the back are oriented in a single direction (unlike most playing cards in which the designs look the same no matter which way they're flipped).

This way, a magician can ask someone to pick a card and return it to the deck--as long as they place it back the opposite as the other cards, the magician will know which card it was.

after doing a little research, it appears that there is a secret message that has been hidden in the deck. i assume one would have to arrange the cards in a particular way, but nobody has seem to found it yet.

here's a link to a video review of the deck:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hl4btRo4AGU

there's a comment from the card designer regarding the secret message

I thought 808 was the design on the back of the card, which was also confusing me. Are there any card experts in the house?

[EDIT: 808 is in fact the finish http://forums.theory11.com/showthread.php?29780-Card-types-909-808-and-tally-ho&s=fea900bd3832f946184a8f803738fa83&p=332440#post332440]
