A new era in stalking!

Ya know, for the longest time I boycotted any kind of GPS. I thought for sure the technology would be shotty at best. When I finally caved in and got a Tom Tom, it amazed me. I have used it for years (even for a trip to Canada), and not gotten lost once. Technology is incredible, and incredibly scary.

Ive owned this Tomtom for about 3 years now. Its great for someone who is not so Techie, the basic functions of the device are geared toward the plug it in and it works thing. Just make sure you update it regularly, It navigated me to the middle of a highway in no-mans land saying that this is where my destination was. Needless to say this was not the casino.

So this looks like it will take a while... so I'll just drop this here

Anyone know if this has lifetime updates like most modern GPS units?

Anybody else notice that the time on the screen is 4:20 and they're on 42nd Street?

once battery died ( run time < 1 min ) you'd have to keep it plugged the whole time. Mine died in 1 year only.

With increasing amount of smart phone GPS integration I see these technology fading fast just like cassette tapes

But because you didn’t buy them a TomTom Go630 GPS, they’d doomed.

I do. My cell phone bill is about 1/3 yours, so I wouldn't call it free.

I don't know anything about this unit, but my TomTom did come with free traffic and map updates.

It's also much better at planning routes than what I've seen from other people's cell phones.

Something to be aware of if you need to visit rural areas: you have to type in a city to be able to enter an address on a TomTom. So if you know the street name, but the address lies in unincorporated land, you are out of luck.

Otherwise this is a decent unit; the lane assist is an amazing feature for me.

the only thing cheaper than time is money

I really prefer having a proper gps to a smartphone and app, having a larger gps screen is really worth it in my opinion.

Fail. Good luck getting signal to update those pretty Google maps when you're way out in the middle of nowhere.

I bought a tomtom once... I returned it in 1 week for the battery being dead (but would function when plugged in). I had a best buy replacement policy and they gave me a new one. The new one's battery died in about 4 days - and best buy wouldn't replace it again, so I used the tomtom warranty (which was okay for a warranty process). The 3rd one died in 2 weeks... and wouldn't even power up after 2 months. I took out the battery, and it functions when plugged in.

Do not buy tomtom, it's garbage.

Phone GPS is great for people that use it once a month at most. These dedicated units are for people that will use it every few days. I don't have this unit, but my other smaller and older TomTom is great.

PLUS payine 30 dollars extra a month for a data pack.

The new tom toms have hd traffic and a bunch of apps built in.

standalone gps is still better

If our shipment was missing pieces, should I contact Woot or TomTom? I assume TomTom, but I wanted to see if anyone has had to do this before. I've bought lots of stuff from Woot, but I've never had a problem until now.

Thanks!
