A few, mostly negative reviews at Amazon:

There are better options than this, like the Wacom Inkling.

In the box:

iPad in photo not included.

So it doesn't come in the box so it might arrive damaged. SmartPost doesn't do too well with unboxed iPads.

Not compatible with windows based OS?

It is compatible with Windows.
You can use it in 2 modes. Either connect it to your PC, and use it as a mouse, or disconnected (my favorite). In the latter mode, you basically clip the receiver to your sketch pad, and when you change pages, you just press the button to record the page. Then, you plug it into your PC and download all the pages you've recorded. Works great for me.
Haven't tried the handwriting recognition, though.

This records when you are NOT hooked up to your iPad/iPhone, then when you have time to do it, you hook it up and it downloads. Very cool.

You know I just got a $13 Targus stylus for my iPad and draw directly on it.

Zooming in on a piece of paper is something that is just not possible.

Wait a minute, a *light pen*? Is this 2012 or 1982? Can I use it to erase the element/compound that stumps the Voyager probe, and put tar in my kryptonite?

When this was on back in March, I seriously considered it as an artist myself. Since I'm usually broke, I dug in to do some research.

For notes, this is great. For a simple doodle, maybe.

Artists: no. The pen is not calibrated well enough and this tech is still early - thus, it only picks up on so much. The sketch that is drawn in the demo video would either be impossible or have to be drawn very slowly one line at a time. So, not worth my time and money for the purposes I would want.

But then, haven't had experience personally yet.

These really aren't as easy to use as you would hope. I have a similar one for my computer that "works" the same way this one does. I've used it twice, it was just easier to scan documents in after writing than take the time to set up the pen and sensor.

Thx for the above - I got that feeling that this was a toy when I saw the pen tip (rounded). It seems to me the technology should be more refined from what it was 10 years back, but doesn't sound like it is.
