Ah I just gave a canned general reply, since most batteries like this are custom cut and only have what they need. Should've checked, it is a single 3.7V Li cell, so it does only need two contacts.. (A two cell battery needs 2 to power things, but 3 to charge safely, a middle tap to make sure it's balanced.)

OK your battery is charged. Take it back out, and insert it 5 or 10 times, to make sure the contacts wipe. Then leave it in, put on the cover and the LCD screen so it's easier to see if something turns on.

Make sure you're using the power switch on the left, since the other side also has off/on with the VOX. Switch the power switch on and off 10 or 20 times, maybe 100. Sometimes a film gets into switches etc in manufacturing, and using it some will clean it off and get it working. Same idea as battery in and out before.

Hard to imagine leaving the 3rd contact out was intentional, they're in mine and not so much on an item like this that they were doing it on purpose. Could be they missed the needed one on yours. Also, charging circuit being fine but the rest of the circuit to power the device not working is a relatively common failure.

I'd mess with it an afternoon, then if nothing works do the return. Both of mine powered up right off, but they are complex devices, yours easily could have developed a bad internal connection in shipping, assuming they didn't just miss a required contact..

Of course do the return with Woot, you don't want to mess with a manufacturer on something you just bought new that isn't working. Annoying taking the extra time, but you'll still be happy once you get a working one. Only tried them a little yet but they're great so far.

so can anybody vouch for the quality? I was a bit unsure if i wanted to keep this or get the gopro hero 2. I won a $100 ebay gift card so the gopro would be close to the same out of pocket cost if i bought it on there...not sure what to do!

Opened mine up and set it up in the front of my Goldwing. The 1080 video is very sharp - I can stop the video and read every sign clearly along my way - no blurriness at all. Haven't taken it underwater yet, that will be late summer before I do that. Haven't done much with stills yet either, but Video is great. I also ordered a class 10 card which came today so I could test out the camera.

That's awesome to hear. My friend has a gopro hd hero2 and he went to full sail academy for filming and works on tv movies discovery channel ect. And he read the specs and bought one and told me good find. But glad to hear the work great! I can't wait for mine. I just got my 1 piece leather race suit so cameras are last thing to complete my ultimate driving machine haha. Plus gonna hook to dogs collar when she's in the river or lake and hook to fishing rod n see if I catch anything cool. Can't believe mines coming from Washington state when others are on east coast. Hopefully not damaged

Of course! Once mine arrives Friday i'll take it for a ride and document the best results. Just cleaned and lubed my chain today.

I recommend you take a picture before you mount it anywhere. If you record at 720p the LCD doesn't show the full 170 degree view when live.

I may go to Costco and pickup a second one if I like it as much as I do right now.

That's a good idea. I didnt think about that I was figuring on centering the cam from LCD. Thanks for heads up. N I bought 2 since both together were cheaper then one hero 2 with LCD backpack. And my friend that is a film and lighting expert told me specs were basically same as go pro I figured no reason to pass it up. So how much is it at Costco? Incase I want a third for helmet haha or car

Yeah, looking at videos online i'd say it's better than a go pro but the hero 2 blows it away. Worth it IMO.

Mine was delivered yesterday. LCD is shot! Second Woot in a row that's trashed.

Damn I hope whoever got it has a heart n brings it to you. My status hasn't changed and hasn't shipped... Me n my father have multiple woot accounts and this may be a deal breaker. Never had such slow shipping especially without tracking updates or info. So if not here by Friday will be incredibly disappointed. I just don't get how people have there's on east coast n shipped from east coast n mines coming from Washington state by a "shipping partner" never heard off that.

My only problem is: do I stay home and cook for the company picnic as planned, or strap this baby to the Harley and go for a ride?

Strap to Harley and take to picnic so u can test it out! Just make sure when u park pop it in ur pocket incase some jerk wants to steal it. Let me know how u like it. I ordered two for my bike. Plus I plan on putting on my dogs collar when at river or attach to fishing pole at lake to see what I'm swimming in haha

Also did it come ups fedex or usps? Cuz my tracking says "shipping partner" so no idea what that means

I'm kind of disappointed that the photo of the camera shows the lens of the case as replaceable with screws holding it tight. The unit I recieved has only a 2 piece housing (camera body and rear door). Also not thrilled that there is no option to have the LCD screen attached to the camera while in the housing. You have to tote the LCD around seperaty to change some options and view photos or video. Still playing with it more to come.

And I'm bit disappointed with video quality. It works great while not moving, but I hooked it to the handlebar on my bike, took it for a short ride, and the video is super "wavy" and distorted when moving... and it was a road bike on decent pavement.

Anyone has shot a video (i'll post a link as soon as I get a chance to upload it)

Anyone happen to know if the batteries are the same size/layout as a GoPro? I just got mine today, along with an email from Swann Customer Service with an order form for the extra accessories that I had emailed them about, but I was really hoping they sold a stand-alone battery charger. It doesn't look like they do. I did find this and am interested in getting it if they'll work. They look very similar, but I have nothing to compare it to size wise. Any help I could get would be awesome. Thanks

What speed was your sd card? If it's low that could be why. Also check settings

What were you recording at? 1080p/30?

I mounted mine on my helmet and it seemed to work okay for me. I got a really bad angle so i'm gonna re-record tomorrow and upload it for you guys.

I did find these videos though, you can see the same almost stutter like effect probably from the rolling shutter. You can usually post-process it out.

Try to get a higher speed like a 10 if u can and record ar 720p 60fps. Also mine still hasn't come or shipped, should I be worried?

I have the same exact issue. Will not work unless plugged in and there is only two battery terminals sticking up. the 3rd negative terminal is missing.

Got mine yesterday and haven't mounted it on my helmet to shoot action video yet. However, while I was experimenting with the aiming laser, I found that it's the BEST DOG/CAT LASER-CAM EVER!

Perfectly-centered, hi-def laser pointer pet freak-out video. Hours of fun. :-)

my camera still hasnt showed up :-( I called the post office and guy told me not much they could do and to wait a few days and see if anyone brings it. Ugh, its been a few days now...I'm pretty irritated. Think i may call the higher ups since it's their fault the mail carriers don't read the address.

That's ridiculous! Thatbis there fault. Obv not yours. I hope it all works out! And yeah I ordered two of these cheaper then 1 hd2 with backpack so figured I'd use these till gopro makes their new model

I have this same problem. One of the contacts is broken. After charging to a steady red, I unplugged it but unit does not turn on. I emailed Woot and a rep responded with RMA the following morning...very impressed.

Hopefully, they ship the new one out as quick as they shipped my original order. I think this item was the fastest I had ever received a Woot order. I've ordered a bunch of stuff from them, and this is my first RMA.

The bracket I needed was screwed into something else by default. I needed to unscrew it and that fit on the bottom. If you are having the below problem, try to unscrew all the pieces and you will find what you need.

I have a race TOMORROW morning and I seem to have ran into an issue -- this camera doesn't appear to allow you to use the waterproof case ALONG with a head strap. I bought the GoPro head strap, and it uses the same connectors, but the problem is this:

The flat piece that has the threads on the bottom doesn't seem to fit while the waterproof case is on.

The race I'm running tomorrow will certain include water, and I don't want to leave it exposed on my head.

Can anyone help? I'd love to find a way to use this with my strap AND have it waterproofed. I think if I break the edges of the mount, it would then fit with the waterproof case, but that's last resort...

Also, any idea if the US office is still open? I'd try to call them if nobody can help me.

A bigger case would add size and buoyancy if you didn't want the LCD on and since you can't get to the buttons you couldn't do much but line up the shot. Sight over the top edge of the case, or even put something on to act as a gun sight, and you will do as well as having the LCD.

Yes it's not replaceable, forgot it was in the picture. Still not much of an issue, get some fine polishing case and something flat and polish the case once it gets scratched enough to bother. You'd have to scratch it up a lot use the case up anytime soon..

Get your average cell phone screen protector for a few bucks, you should be able to cut out 2 or 3 for the case. Have to try that myself, with the wide field coming through a decent area, it may barely affect the video at all. Could be worth a few bucks to do and be reasonably sure the case will last.

Well of course one of mine is broke,,, one only shoots in black n white... The color sensor or something is broke

That really sucks, i'm pretty disappointed with mine. The picture quality isn't what I thought it would be. Either that or it can't focus, who knows.

Then I have the slow write time compression problem where it's perfectly smooth for a second, then it stutters for a second, and repeat.

I got the class 10 I linked but I can actually only get sustained 5.48MB/s writes. The bit-rate of the videos is 8mbps (1MBps) so it should be enough, but I guess there is no internal buffer so it drops frames or something.

I think I might sell this on ebay and buy a hero2.
