The User Guide even shows one how to attach the strap to the camera and the lens cover to the strap but nowhere indicates that a strap is not included. Was there supposed to be a strap? Have others received a strap? I've never purchased a camera that didn't come with at least some kind of strap.

Greetings. A strap was not included in the sale. The strap you see in the main picture (or thumbnail on the first post) is the strap from the included case.

Mine arrived yesterday, everything in order and a great little camera for the $. The label on the box kinda implied it was the black color, but the camera was the blue I had ordered.

Next I'll be shopping for deals on some fresh memory cards...

Received the camera in record time. Very impressed with the shipping on this one. I was hoping to receive it before a family event this weekend and I wasn't disappointed!

I feel like I got a great deal - Definitely a happy wooter!

Just received mine - looks good - but no camera neck strap - yeah, I know it comes with a case, but with this size camera you need the neck strap.

Weird, the link in the email gives little to no tracking information, but going to Fedex (previously mentioned) shows that it has been shipped and should be here tomorrow!

My review so far:

Works well, takes good pictures. The super macro mode (which is why I ordered it) works very well, but is very difficult to use with the stationary screen and no viewfinder. I suppose my biggest complaint is the lack of viewfinder. Makes it near unusable in bright sunlight. I like that it uses AA batteries (another reason I bought). Easy to use, fairly easy to learn, only had to RTFM once thus far.

OK, mine arrived today, and initial tests are promising. I was also surprised at the lack of a strap, I was supposing it would come with a wrist strap. It was actually the very detailed instructions in the manual that lead me to believe mine was missing what the manual implied was an included strap. In fact, at each spot in the manual where it talks about an accessory that ISN'T included, it details how to go to the website to purchase these optional accessories. On the very detailed page that tells how to install the strap, there is no mention of it being "not included", and in fact pictures it with the included lens cap and lens cap tether. So, while the woot sale didn't include the strap, I'm supposing that the camera originally WAS intended to include a strap of some sort, whether it be a wrist or neck strap. When I couldn't find what clearly was implied to be there, my first thought was to come here, and sure enough, there's confirmation that the implied (by the manual) included accessory was not, in fact, included. Ah well, I'll just have to shop for one of those as well, as I start to shop for good deals on memory cards.

Edit: If anybody finds a great deal on the perfect memory card for this, or a killer strap, I'd love to get a lead on them!

I found a Wintec Filemate 16GB class 10 SDHC card at Amazon for $12.98 each. Ordered two and had free shipping. Also found at Walmart Universal camera strap for about $12. The package states Macbeth collection. There were several colors but I selected the black and grey. It is slim enough to fit into the case. I had purchased a larger strap but it would not fit the case and needed to be returned. Hope this helps.

Got mine yesterday and everything is working fine. Strange that it came in a white box which indicates (from what Ive read) pre-production stock. Hopefully something wasnt wrong with this specific model and kodak stopped production...

Best by far is that it came with FREE updog! Thanks Woot!

Kodak announced back in February that they were getting out of the digital camera business (it was too competitive and they were losing money on it). I suspect that these cameras were produced before the announcement and were waiting to be boxed up in fancy, printed boxes to be shipped out to distributors. Instead, it looks like Amazon bought the existing stock and is going to liquidate it through Woot. Which would explain why there were no reviews or listings of this camera for sale anywhere, and the plain white boxes and no software or wrist straps.

I bought one of these and I think it's a really nice camera with an excellent optical zoom. The photos are super sharp with great color. And it's a plus that it runs on AA batteries.

If Woot offers these again, I'll buy a second one. I noticed that they didn't sell out of any of the colors, so perhaps we'll see this Kodak camera offered again.

Thanks for finding these. I ordered a black one, but if I'd bought a cranberry red camera, I would have totally gotten the Sloane Piccadilly strap. Yes, I checked the Kodak camera first and there are indeed strap connectors on BOTH sides of the camera (for a neck strap).

Here's a link to the Walmart camera straps which are all $11 apiece, plus $2 shipping and sales tax.

alanbama wrote:Is this the model with the in-camera panoramic stitching? Anyone have experience with that and if so, how well does it work?

Among other features I tried out the in-camera panoramic stitching. It worked well, and saved me much time and energy doing the same with software. Did not get the varied exposure patterns associated with different light conditions for each angle experienced on other cameras. With the new Kodak it took three photos to capture the scene. The Kodak highlighted an area from the previous scene, that when matched in the viewfinder, took the second shot. Repeated that for third picture. Waited for the camera to complete its stitching; got a great panorama!

The camera I received makes a sound (other than the usual motor hum)when the zoom lens is extended and retracted that I can best describe as a rubbery squeaking, kind of like what one hears when you rub an inflated balloon but not as loud. It is loud enough however to be picked up by the camera's built-in mike. Is this normal? Is there anything to remedy it? I'm concerned that this is a defect of some sort and wondering if I should consult with Kodak. Thanks for any assistance.

Got mine on May 2nd; 24 hours after shipped! I very much like the camera, using Eneloop rechargeable batteries lasted very well; used a new (old but never used) Kingston 2GB card I had sitting around the house and it works bang fast with nice quality pics for the money.

Dennis, appreciate your followup email with tracking info and it looks like my order is finally winging it's way here with the speed of a thousand gazelles and one crippled turtle. BTW, I do check my junk folder on a daily basis but it appears it didn't ship till the Monday the 7th -- never received a shipping notice. Hmmm, seems odd that my woot order status still has NOT changed to shipped. (hey, just making an observation, not a judgement)

Mine just arrived. It is a real bargain. Very impressive zoom and the lens is great - excellent example shots taken. I really like the simple menus, intuitive buttons etc.. Real shame that Kodak have decided to go out of the market. Have two other digital cameras from their range but this is by far the best.

New to Woot - any chance this camera would be offered again or simply no way to know? I see there are a couple on eBay and buy.com has the black model, but would prefer a better deal on Woot...

I am thinking of getting this for my Dad for father's day - he is a Kodak fan and would like the ease of use and reach this model offers (he likes red too...) If I can't find one in red, I think I may have to go the Nikon route unfortunately...

The camera didn't sell out, so there's a good chance it will show up during the next Woot-Off. The trick will be catching it.
I went back and forth on getting one too (it's not a great camera spec-wise, but for the price... ), and dithered too long, so I'll be grabbing one if one shows up again.

I'm not noticing any strange sounds when the zoom is expanded or retracted. Just the normal whirling sound you would expect from a small motor when it is engaged. Hope you can get a replacement.

Thanks for the info. I could not see any way to know if it sold out so that is good to know. Is the "Woot Off" the deal that is announced once a day at midnight? Or is that something different? Any idea how often Woot deals repeat if they did not sell out?
