I have one of these. It's the only corkscrew I've ever owned that works on those hard plastic "corks" in the $5 bottles of wine.

Also, what the lady did wrong in the first video is after you've uncorked the bottle, pull the level all the way down, grasp the base, and pull up. It will grab the cork and pull it off of the corkscrew.

I find that strangely arousing.

Ah memories...

me: *hands roommate glass of wine*

her: I thought this was supposed to be white wine

me: it was

her: why is it red?

me: *holds up hand, corkscrew firmly imbedded in palm*

her: ahhh.... I think I'll just have a coke...

Ya buncha fancy pantses--I guess you're all too good to just use yer teeth, or just smash the top of the bottle. Next thing, you'll be using glasses.

It took her 1 minute, 40 seconds to get the darn thing out of the box, open the bottle and pack it back up (and I think they edited the actual cutting of the foil.) It takes me less than a minute to open my kitchen drawer, pull out a traditional bartender's corkscrew, open the bottle and toss the corkscrew back in the drawer!

Sparkling strawberry lemonade... That sounds delish! Does it come in a bottle or something you make yourself?

Easy Cheesy?

I swear she looked like she was going to knock the bottle or glass over multiple times. Hell, she looked like she herself might tip over. Michael J. Fox would have done better.

And what was the edit during the use of the foil cutter? Sleight of hand? Time lapse? Subliminal messaging?

You should always try to use the extra screw thingies as soon as possible to make sure they work!

Oh come on. Surely you realize that not Wooter buys there wine at our site. We'd love for them to but we know there are some that don't.

I hereby forbid you to bring up that it could have been sold on Home.Woot. I called it. You can't do it.

Today is shaping up to be the launch of "whine.woot"

Fancy wine on wine.woot and a fancy opener from woot, coupled with a pair of heavy-duty foil cutters on sellout.woot and a 10-DVD set of MST3K on moofi.woot makes for an awesome sick day if all of it comes in at the same time.

Well played, woot!

Suddenly I *need* the wine shower!

This and a lot of other openers are just too much work. I mostly use a Cork Pops which is quick, easy, works for right or left hand, and not hard on the tendinitis.

I also use a waiter's friend I got on wine.woot a while back.

As God is my witness, I thought turkeys could fly.

I will never understand the fascination with these corkscrews. That thing is enormous, so much so that it seems (from the video) that it actually is difficult to deal with.

My Screwpull waiter's corkscrew is as fine a machine as anyone could ever want. With the slightest bit of practice, it opens anything easily, and it stores anywhere (including in my pocket). It costs right about the same as this monstrosity.

If you feel you need something a little easier to use, go with Screwpull's simplest "table corkscrew." It is much easier to handle that this giant Houdini thing, it costs about the same, comes with a foil cutter, and takes up far less space in its box (even less if you don't keep it in the box--about the same space as a traditional waiter's corkscrew).
