Yeah...... I don't come here for political ads. I come here to shop.

Run ads for tampons, run ads for jock itch treatment, run ads for any actual product you guys want to, but if you guys keep running political ads, the you will have seen me for the last time.

I would be very surprised if it wasn't just your cookies throwing political ads at you and not Woot. .maybe learn something about the internet first before you start whining.

For what it's worth, I'm getting BMW and the graduate program @ Capella University right now.

I have owned a number of Houdini wine openers... not the vertical. Sadly, they all broke. Even pooling parts didn't extend their life much.

The main problem is the lever and gears are plastic, chromed but plastic.

Part of the problem for the plastic units is that more bottlers are using the synthetic "corks" which are much tougher.

The vertical design is easier to operate than the original design.

I now use a vertical Rabbit, with the handle and gears that are metal. It's great.

It was $65 but has pulled more corks than the 4 or so plastic Houdinis that broke.

For $15 you can bet this one is plastic... read some reviews on Amazon, these break.

If you buy this, go for three... or spend a little more for the Rabbit with metal handle and gears.

In for two. I liked the similar, more expensive product offered by Brookstone but I had two of those wear out in less than the 1 year warranty they offered so I like the 5 yr. warranty offered with this one. I would recommend using a good old fashioned cork screw on any bottle with an synthetic "cork" to preserve the longevity of this one.

* but we're looking into this to get it fixed

Cookies aren't capable of "throwing political ads". "maybe learn something about the internet first before you start whining"

Woot, like most site sites with advertising online, uses an ad service. Customers of the ad service can limit the type of ads (adult, political, competitors, etc) which I'm sure Woot has done. Reporting to the customer (Woot) so they can complain to the ad service is the correct way to do things.

Helps to aerate the wine prior to you drinking. Opens up the wine so you can taste subtle levels in higher end wines.

Yes.. but why did the email arrive 3 hours previous to my post... that is what I was getting at... obviously well into today not yesterday.

All: the email being sent was obviously sent erroneously, automatically or manually. Either way it didn't go out at the regularly scheduled time so just ignore it. I'm sure Woot appreciates the report, but let's not beat it to death.

I can't say that I have this exact product because it seems like Metrokane offers several versions of their products, not to mention packages them with various accessories. However, this unit has metal gears (so sayeth the description) and so does mine. The handle is plastic on mine. This one looks like it is, too, but the design of mine is more like the one in the Amazon review posted earlier (has a chrome-colored edge to it).

Though the Amazon reviews all mention breakage, I have been using mine since I got it from Woot last Summer/Fall and have had zero issues with it - and no breakage. I'm also not misusing it or putting undue pressure on the handle. I've opened many bottles of wine, including the rubber/plastic corks - again, no issues.

I recommend this product to anyone who is looking for something with which to open wine, but also for a conversation piece. It's served my family well for both purposes.

The one I got around 9 am EDT today was Saturday's Home.Woot. A little disappointing, because I might have actually purchased some of those if I'd gotten it on Saturday.

Oh, and I see that I just got today's notice at 1:24 pm EDT. Definitely some issues with the service that handles your email notices, woot!

P.S. Leave the mail servers alone, the domain controllers work better for streaming.

even if you don't get your woot emails, is it that tough to just log on and look? the emails really aren't a big deal. People act like they lost out on a deal because they didn't get an email and were too lazy to check the site.

keep up the good work woot.

Oh shoot, Normally I'd say no being how mothers day is this sunday. But I've received a couple woots within 3 days lately It's nuts. Shipping fulfilled by amazon is fantastic. If Houdini escapes woot HQ tomorrow AND amazon fulfills shipping, you might be looking at Friday/Saturday.

I wouldn't risk it though. Go ahead and Order this and hope for a friday/saturday delivery. Although, you better have a box of chocolates in reserve just in case this doesn't make it in time!

I am unable to consider any product including the word "Vertical" in the name without hearing Richard Jeni's take on late night TV advertising which included Marvin A Gonniff, personal injury lawyer and the Vertical Chicken Cooker... "How much would you pay? I guess I'd pa...BUT WAIT THERE'S MORE! Stop yelling at me, you chicken b@&+4#%." and laughing hysterically.

RIP Richard.

Well, I can't really say who the advertiser was. The videos were located under the section where it says "full stats ->". They started playing off screen and I had to go searching where the sound was coming from. One was a clip of Romney saying the chinese dissident affair was the darkest day of american history. The other was a clip of Gingrich leaving the race and endorsing Romney. There was a tagline with the advertisers name just under the video window. two words but I don't recall anymore than that.

I don't care what anyones political affiliation is. I just don't want to be a victim of the ambush advertising both sides use. I would have complained if it was an Obama commercial too.

Sorry but I can't give you anymore that that.
