I hate it when people think they are getting away with something by splitting the bill when they have knowingly ordered way more in food and drink than everyone else. A little bit of money is not so bad, but we actually went out with a couple a few years ago who saw friends across the room, and the husband, who is a social climber big time sent bottles of wine to people he knew. When the bill for food and drink came, they tried to split it and I spoke up and said no way. My husband was mortified, but it made a difference of aboout $75 and that was a long time ago when $75 was a week of my salary.

Driving by on my way to the school. School play today at 12:30 and tomorrow at 6. Made 10 costumes last night because the costumes they thought they had weren't enough costume to be called that AND three kids did get full costumes, so if you got the 2"x 30" strip of fake fur for your caveman outfit, well I know how I would have felt. Teacher slipped me some cash for fabric, didn't even spend it all. So I'll give him back the change, I know what he doesn't get paid and he's silly enough to not get the money from his class PAT account.

Unfortunately/Luckily there is a nasty bug going around town and a bunch of kids are sick 4 kids in the class most likely won't make it to the performance and I have 2 extra costumes that were loaned to us so we should be ok. Plus I'm taking extra fabric and scissors. I can always make another one on the fly.

I hate splitting bills, even if you ordered the same thing. Then there's the awkwardness of the tip if one prefers to tip more than the other.

We either have one person pay for all (family) or pay what we ordered for, even if that means writing a check for the person that initially covers the check. Then each person leaves an individual tip or if they don't have cash asks the person with the card to add X for their tip and puts it on their check.

It's easier for us that way because I usually have the most people since the kids go everywhere with us. It's ignorant to pretend the kids meals don't add up to as much or more than an adult meal.

I would be mortified if someone tried to gouge $75 of wine they didn't even drink out of my wallet. Also, I would not call such a person a friend.

Good news, school has started back up so I have friends to talk to.
To bad I am stuck commuting from my parents house because there dogs in need of watching so I don't have time.
