pain started increasing exponentially last week...prolly cuz I been doin a lot more stuff outside. And by 1-2 pm at work I was in misery. So even tho alternative therapy is helping, I talked to the ortho surgeons office and they ok'd another epidural. Good thing - I gotta lotta gardening to do!!

I heartily dislike needles also, but it's a normal, average dislike. I feel really sorry for people (I have a couple of friends) that are way over what you'd call average dislike. Someday they're going to be in a heap of trouble, either by not having blood work when they should or, like Lynn, needles become a necessity.

HI everyone. Lynn - my cousin gets those epidurals & exists on oxycontin for the 2-1/2 months until the next one. I hope you have better luck. Is it possible for surgery to do anything easily? I don't mean vertebroplasty either. My husband had that after much, much thought. He was a structural engineer and said if you strengthen one part of a bone it will simply break in another. It didn't, but it did not help and the doc said he was right. At Duke he spent a couple of weeks in intensive PT and that built up muscles to compensate for the bone pain. I am so sorry you have to contend with this because it is probably one of the worst pain there is.

Gotta add, you are like my cousin - gets the shot so she can do more damage. Take it easy!

lol...well, I do my strengthening exercises and am still losing weight (have lost 30, gotta long way to go). But can't even exercise when walking for more than 50 yards is excruciating. And the acupuncture really seems to be the ticket, at least this last treatment I had was. I was pain-free for 2 days - after having barely slept for a week because of the pain. I have Vicodin but it doesn't touch the pain. Prolly need oxy but am glad they were able to get me fit in for the epidural this morning rather than have to resort to stronger oral meds.

surgery will be my last resort. hopefully will never have to come to that. I think what we have been doing is helping, meaning the chiro, cuz the pain is 'different' this time...instead of just hurting while standing or walking it hurt 24/7 lol! So my theory is that we are shifting the vert. back, slowly, and we will keep working at that. When she works on me she says things are holding from week to week. Hopefully getting the inflammation down will help us keep moving the right direction, and the acupuncture will do what it's supposed to do.

I hear ya on that! My surgical hernia wouldn't be such a problem if I weighed less (according to theory). The fact that I was 1 week postpartum at the surgery and rapidly losing weight in that part of my body didn't help in the first place. But walking too much or bending too much causes extreme pain and I have to be careful not to pinch intestines in the epithelial layers when I move, blah blah blah.... I'm not gaining weight, occasionally manage to lose a little and am finally looking for surgeons. Orc has 6 months before he can take any vac or sick leave, so maybe next summer at the latest, unless there is another medical reason to wait.

yeah, hernias are nasty. A good friend of mine had an undetected hernia that ruptured last year. She almost died. They detected one on the other side and want to do surgery, but the wound from her first one hasn't totally healed.

Luckily this one is obvious, but I did wonder if I got sick! I was so miserable and it's always there in the back of your mind. I've been watching it for the two years that I've had it.

I was wondering if these are the bugs her grandkids like (on kids.woot) and if so what age are they. Everyone is saying they are good for 4-7 and I'm wondering if I should ask the versions if they look neat to them or not.

These aren't the ones I got, but probably act the same. The grandkids I gave them to were 8, 8, 10 & 16. They had fun with them that day. No clue if they've played with them since.

if it is a lick granuloma then putting some preparation-h on it and covering her leg with a sock might help. if it is an embedded foreign body or some other injury then it won't help
