My a/c is still m.i.a. , techs (3rd one to look at it) have finally agreed with my diagnosis that the compressor was pooched. Now begins the days of waiting until they get approval from the insurance peeps to replace it. It's a good thing it is going to be relively mild for the next week.
Talked to my cousin's husband last night and we agreed that neither of us wanted to spend the night in Wacco during grad weekend so we are just going to drive down and meet for the afternoon. It'll work put better for all of us, Mrs. Ice really needs to be home in the evening to cover the elections with the PR people from her work in person rather than remotely anyway.It'll be less stress on the dog if he can stay home also.

Sounds smart. Graduation here tomorrow. Other university was last week. No open hotel rooms for miles.

The dog friendly one we were going to stay at was going to be $280 a night. I mean it's WACCO, not friggin' uptown (insert major metropolis here).

I've learned more about Catholicism in this thread.... I guess that's what I get for growing up in LDS culture.

edit: I am not LDS, but at least 90% of my neighbors and even more of my classmates were growing up. I don't live there anymore.

That is sort of what I figured, but I wasn't sure if there was more reason for it than that as I am not knowledgeable on the importance of things to Catholics.

Oh, KtC, the reality is for most people, in 2nd grade you get to wear a pretty bride like dress if you are a girl. Not as exciting for boys to wear a suit.

Confirmation means a day off from school and if you have a nice public school system, no homework or test that week.

Our school district really only falls in the geographic area of two churches, so for 2 days in 8th grade they don't have tests on Confirmation day, or the next day, because too many kids will be out of school one of those days.

Other odd catholic thing....you are suppose to go to the church you live near. Each church has an area....sort of like a school would.
You can go anywhere, but you might have trouble if you want to be married or confirmed outside of the church you are suppose to go to.
You actually have to have a priest OK getting married at the church you go to.

This became a problem with my sister in laws swim team. She was coach.
You didn't have to be from the catholic school, or even be Catholic to be a member of the swim team. But if you lived near another catholic school that had a team, you had to join that one.
My sister in law had to explain that to the Muslim kids that were on her team, when another school started their own team.

Thank you for the explanations. I had thought confirmation happened in high school (I do have a couple of Catholic friends - and there was that one guy studying to be a priest that I dated then, he changed his mind). I remember learning about confirmation. That was also when I learned about Lent, even though many Christians participate in some form of Lent observation.

My kids had it in 8th grade.
So I'm sure it could be HS in places.
You have to have a Bishop, so I bet in some places they can do more than one grade in one ceremony.
