And as far as I can tell, none of the Windows options do.

It would seem that SnapStream can automatically convert recordings and sync to ipod/iphone ( no mention of ipad)

but this software costs $100

it means two shows at once.

a friend has two of these, each connected to its own antenna, and he regularly records four shows simultaneously.

Received my shipping notice overnight and tracking shows it arrived in town overnight also. Due to be delivered tomorrow (Friday), in time to do something with it over the weekend if I get my chores done.

If I had to choose, I'd go with this model since USB tuners take up USB ports and are more expensive. But they do not suck.

Ok, sorry. I've had one in the past and I know two other people who tried them out and hated them. I'm glad to hear they have advanced.

I bought a Pinnacle USB tuner stick on Woot in 2008. I not only still use it, but hooked to a $10 set of rabbit ears, it receives a higher quality signal on UHF stations than my TiVo and HDHomeRun does from and $90 outside antenna.

Seriously, I use it as my primary tuner for those UHF stations and use my TiVo and HDHomerun when I need to record more than one thing, VHF stations and a low power station.

It looks like these are shipping out of Phoenix so those of us on the West Coast will be seeing a little bit of Brown Santa love.

Mine is coming from Indianapolis. My guess is they are shipping from various Amazon warehouses.

Don't get too excited, it is being shipped "Smartpost". I've had packages leave the Woot warehouse in Carrollton and take 8 days to travel to my house 19 miles from there.

"Smartpost" - dragging FedEx down to the Post Office's level!

And for the trifecta, mine is UPS. Woot - sharing the shipping love amongst all the carriers, one HDHomeRun at a time.

Mine arrived this afternoon via UPS.

This has to be the most impressive shipping experience in 8 years of Wooting - at my front door less then 48 hours after purchase!

I guess good things really have come from the Amazon acquisition...

Got mine hooked up today. Works awesome. Using WMC to record shows allows me to easily edit, play, share, burn to DVD, etc. No issues playing/recording over 802.11G.

My best WOOT purchase so far!

I set mine up in no time at all. I wanted it primarily for watching TV on iPad. Since iPad plays mpeg4 and this streams mpeg2, you need transcoding. http://www.telly-app.com/ has one and it seems to be working pretty well.

I have the same USB tuner and it has been rock solid for a few years now. However, recently, I have noticed it is showing signs of aging. Some of these include over-drawing power from a usb port, the signal led won't illuminate and a few other little quirks. It still works and I still love it. I am however looking forward to a non-usb way of getting tv.

EDIT: This was a reponse to:

Has anyone configured this with Ubuntu 12.04? When I try to install the dvbhdhomerun drivers I get a 404 not found, because they have not been compiled in the ppa for precise. I tried compiling the source I found, but got errors. Any luck?

OK, I am completely lost here. I setup the software that came with it and all the channels work but I can't record anything.

I tried to setup SageTV and it says it can't find any channels.

Tried WMC and it can't find channels either.

What am I doing wrong. It sees the tuner card and I can select it but the the only software that can playu the channels is the software that came with it.

I was able to compile the libhdhomerun library and hdhomerun_config_gui under Slackware 13.1 with no problem. The GUI worked surprisingly well when compared to its Windows counterpart.

I cannot specifically comment on your problem without knowing your exact compiler errors. In general, make sure that you have everything installed to compile programs (gcc, kernel headers, etc.)

Also, be sure to follow the troubleshooting instructions on the SiliconDust site. And remember, Google is your best friend for this sort of problem. :-)

If anyone is interested, this device seems to work very well with MythTV 0.25. It was pretty much a Plug-n-Play installation.

So far, I am very impressed with the HDHomeRun. It seems to be as sensitive as my Dish VIP-622 OTA tuner. The output peaks at about 12 Mbps per stream, so it does not appreciably affect my overall LAN network performance.

Kudos also to SiliconDust for producing a very Linux-friendly product. This is something that I wish more companies would do.

A common oversight I've seen by new users is to fail to select which PVR software you are using in the Setup software within the Applications Tab. You also have to change this if you switch PRV software.

Step one: Are the lights on the device on indicating that it is connected to the network? If no, troubleshoot that first.

If so, Did you go through the setup of WMC? Windows 7 I assume?

In media center, go to tasks, settings, tv, set up tv signal and it should find it if you follow the instructions and the drivers installed properly.

The libhdhomerun library and hdhomerun_config_gui were not the problem, that compiled and installed easily, it was the drivers that allow linux to see the network tuner as a device on the system so tvheadend can record from it.

I got on the sourceforge page and found the debian packages and installed them that way. The developer said he might get around to adding them to the 12.04 repository this weekend.

I need to see if my network setup is going to work how I want it to as I have a server doing all the recording and have light front ends for viewing. It basically doubles the network traffic this way.

For anyone interested here is what needs to happen:

download:
https://launchpad.net/~tfylliv/+archive/dvbhdhomerun/+files/dvbhdhomerun-dkms_0.0.9-2_all.deb
https://launchpad.net/~tfylliv/+archive/dvbhdhomerun/+files/dvbhdhomerun-utils_0.0.9-2_amd64.deb or https://launchpad.net/~tfylliv/+archive/dvbhdhomerun/+files/dvbhdhomerun-utils_0.0.9-2_i386.deb

install prereqs:
sudo apt-get install debhelper dkms libhdhomerun1

install debian packages:
sudo dpkg -i dvbhdhomerun*.deb

Done that as well. My problems are all Post setup. QuickTV is the only program that lets me watch any TV. WMC and Sage just won't play anything.

In the Windows Media Setup channel scan, are you getting a message that says "No channels were found. Make sure your TV equipment is properly connected to the computer."?

Are you connecting with an antenna or cable?

If cable, try this: In Windows Media Center, go to

Tasks = Settings = TV = Guide = Edit Channels.

You should see a list of all detected channels but are probably not checkd as being enabled. Click on the box to enable them. Hopefully that will work.

Still waiting on mine to ship. First time ordering on here, does it normally take a couple of weeks to ship out?
