The 80's called, they want their design back. Talk about ugly.

I bought this exact model from Woot a few months ago and I love it. I scheduled it to clean my house 4 times a week while I am at work and it does a surprisingly good job. I live in a 2 bedroom condo around 860 sq/ft no stairs, hardwood floors with rugs in each room. Would recommend.

Bought the XV-11 from a previous woot after watching a comparison between it and the Roomba.

Neato wins hands down!

By the way, it avoids falling down stairs by sensing a change in light, but it's defeated by black carpet. If you have dark carpeting, erect a barrier on the top stair to make certain it can't fall off.

Or better yet, test it while you watch -- fascinating.

Sounds like a learning opportunity to me. "The Neato ate my Barbie clothes - maybe I should put them away next time."

I wooted one of these in March, during a woot-off. I share a house with a couple, and we all have long hair. They thought I was nuts.

We're thrilled with it, and it's been a wonder on our carpets.

We're very happy, and probably going to get Neato's extended warranty.

Easy answer: Buy another roll of tape off the Neato web site and be happy and vacuumed.

We had to tape off some bookshelves or it tries to climb inside them. Easily fixed.

Again, we like this and are very happy with it. It's recharging right now.

I find that it tends to push small things like that under my furniture, rather than picking them up. It'll pick up pet hair, dirt, etc., but anything that's larger than, say, cereal just seems to end up pushed under my furniture. No kids here, but three kittens with lots of toys. I've only had one cat toy sucked up by the Neato, and it was a small, soft ring akin to a hair elastic. All the other toys, I find under furniture after the Neato has made its rounds.

I still use a regular vacuum on the weekends to get under the things that the neato can't, but it does a great job at daily pick-up. I have noticed two issues with it, however:
1. At first, it kept insisting on trying to go underneath a TV stand where it would get stuck. I fixed that by putting a flat wood carving about the size of a large book under the TV stand, which somehow taught the Neato that it couldn't fit under there. If that hadn't worked, I would've used the black strip material that they send to mark areas as off limits.
2. The Neato has regular standoffs with my wine refrigerator. It will bump into the refrigerator, back up, change its angle by about 5 degrees, then ram into the refrigerator again. It does this over and over, and rather than rotating in one direction so that it eventually turns around and leaves the refrigerator alone, it mostly goes back and forth in the 5 degree increments, which means that it just keeps hitting the refrigerator. It will also occasionally just have standoffs with the wine refrigerator, where it will just sit in front of the fridge, bleating at me to move the object in its way. I suspect there may be either a crush or some territorial issues between the two.

Edit: After reading about the software updates, I just updated my Neato's software from v2.4 to v2.6. Hopefully tomorrow will bring a friendlier relationship between Neato and my wine refrigerator.

Next you'll be complaining about toilet seat designs. We really need to work on making toilet seats sexier. And litter boxes. Don't get me started on those- talk about ugly design. Oh, and MOPS! I mean, seriously, have you EVER seen a pretty mop?

Buy an autobot sticker, it really helps you be OK w/ the design...

www.redbubble.com

Search for "Voltron sticker" not just Voltron, or else you'll get mostly T-shirts and stuff.

I just purchased a bunch of stickers to make my Neato look like a Weighted Companion Cube, including Rat Man scrawling for the inside (under the dust bin).

In for one! First time I've bought a robot vac on Woot since 2006 Looking forward to it... Roomba gives it the old college try but he's clearly an affirmative action admit.

I currently own both Roombas and a Neato XV-12. While the XV-12 does WAY better on carpeted floors and rugs, the Roomba does far better getting every last scrap of dust from hardwood floors and a decent job from carpet. The side sweeper brush on the Roomba does wonders in corners and along the edge of trim boards, rugs, litter boxes, etc.. The neato fails to get these areas with its floor beating blade/brush. The neato has a far more powerful vacuum unit and has a pretty awesome cleaning pattern, but the Roomba does better with random loose dirt... it just randomly bounces around... . I would say the best bet would be to have the Neato run first, then a Roomba run the same area second.

Main dislike for the Neato - Consistently fails to navigate back to it's charging station. Roomba consistently finds it's way home.

Main LIKE for the Neato - the ability to clean, charge, resume cleaning. The roomba hasn't quite done this yet... If I were to pick another robotic vacuum cleaner, I would pick Roomba for the ease of maintenance, but for the price, Neato makes quite the argument. I keep waiting for a software update that fixes the docking problem.... perhaps it will come soon.

When you compare the cleaning ability (suction power, etc) of these robots to a Kirby...there is no comparison. If you really want a good, powerful, well made vacuum, get a Kirby. We have one and its amazing.

Loved our roomba....until one day we were out while it was running and the dog (who never does this) had done the #2 on the carpet...that's one way to visualize the Roombas cleaning pattern.

Been too afraid to use one since.

Got mine on Thursday and it works good so far. I am having trouble getting it to start on its scheduled cleaning. I have looked online to see if anyone else is experiencing this problem, but I seem to be the only one. Maybe I am doing something wrong. Other than that, it cleans like the devil and is cool to watch going around the various rooms in my house.

It arrived, I followed the quick start guide, but I have a dark LCD screen. There is nothing in the guide, manual, or on the Neato site that discusses what to do to make the thing work if the LCD is dark. I've contacted customer service to see whether there is a fix or if this is a defective unit. I hate receiving stuff that doesn't work out of the box. Big let down.

The battery had some problem or my sets had problem. It will lost power if I remove the power connect for a night (I don't measure it). How can I call for repair?
