Well, how do you fare compared to the Zeitgeist? Chat up your fellow wooters and let us know how lame this poll was or what obvious choices we missed. For example: Was this poll a) STUPID, b) DUMB, c) POINTLESS or d) ALL OF THE ABOVE?

Loved Diablo I and Diablo II, had no desire or interest in buying Diablo III.

I was eight when Diablo came out, and I've been a fan ever since. I had no interest in Diablo III until I tried the open beta, and now I'm so excited it's ridiculous. Definitely took off work, citing "To spend time with an old friend."

This. Exactly this. I was excited the Blizz-Con when they first announced it (Or whatever gaming thing it was. The Blizzard site froze over I remember) then the game fell off my radar pretty much until the open beta. I played it and couldn't get enough.

My husband did. I'm a SAHM. I'm also the one who grinded out his Betamaxed and Overachiever ... since some of us didn't get into closed beta and are still bitter about it.

Where's the "I played the beta and realized that I already played Diablo III, it was called Diablo II and it came out 12 years ago" option?

Quick, someone check my spelling and grammar for me.

Thirded the "Don't Care" statement.

My brother in law is trying to get the day off.

Well, didn't take time off, but will get the game. More looking forward to Heart of the Swarm and Half-Life 3 (or HL2 ep.3) if/when they come out. I got my gaming beast working again and readdicted myself to SC2 and the various HL2-engine FPS games. I have quite the Zealot rush.

Why take the day off when I can play it at work?

mrtbshaw

quality posts: 3 Private Messages mrtbshaw

I fourth the "I don't care" sentiment. I wanted to add a more emphatic "Who gives a crap option", but since this already had a "Don't care" motion and a 2nd and a 3rd- Motion carries to use "Don't care" option.

The guild system ruined MMOs in my opinion. I was disappointed to see they instituted one for Diablo 3. I like to casually play games. It is near impossible to find a guild willing to let you in on their raid when you only play once or twice a week for a few hours, therefore most of the best drop gear/weapons you can't get because they happen in raids. In Diablo II it didn't matter. You could just team up with anybody running the instance and have a chance at loot.

Signatures are harshing my mellow.

I would have preferred a "I'm a responsible adult and didn't consider taking off work to play a game, even one I'm excited about" option.

You bet I did. Wife is irked she was not able to take off Tuesday. She and I have played the Diablo series since version one (which I still have).

Being responsible, did the correct paperwork and got the day off approved.

Not certain I wont do the same thing when Mechwarrior Online goes live.

You folks have a nice Tuesday at work....

Oooooooohhh, Diablo III is a game.

I think computer games are great and I hope everyone plays lots of them. That way, there are fewer people on the golf course.

I don't mean this in a snide way, so don't get all huffy. After all, you gotta be someplace doing something. Right?

I LOVED Diablo II, but have honestly not paid any attention to Diablo III coming out. I just don't have the time to devote to gaming like I did in college.

You need the option:

I have tomorrow off anyways but I don't care about Diablo III!!!

(Just to rub it in the faces of those who do care a little.)

If they ever made a Myst VI though... THAT I would take off work for.

I would rather work than play any video game and I am not sure exactly when/why that changed. Loved video games as a kid and young adult, but now, I would consider playing a video game as a form of punishment.

I like to wait until the bugs are fixed and the prices drop. I would never spend three hours pay on any game, ever.

In a few months there will be a "Game of the Year" edition with added content for about a third the price. I'll take a look at it then.

Meh, I played diablo II years ago and wasn't impressed.

The diablo II trailer that came on the starcraft cd was one of the best I've ever seen though (and much better than diablo III's)

I'm still waiting for guild wars 2.

I played Diablo I, but I never got into it even though I played Baldur's Gate, Neverwinter Nights, and Dungeon Seige.

Me too. I'm looking forward to the game, I'm going to play it, but I'm not going to take a day off of work just for a video game.

The "Who Cares" option is the "What's a Diablo" option. The choice is meant to be both a condescension and a proclamation of ignorance.

When you start labeling activities like, "I am a responsible adult, why would I take off work to play a game?" You are being an ass, since you believe the reasons you choose to take off work are superior to the reasons others choose to do the same.

I am not a fan, so I didn't take off. I have done so for other games, so I choose not to judge. I hope the game is everything the fans of the series have hoped for.

It also assumes that everyone has a job in which this would be irresponsible. I can think of many jobs in which a person can responsibly take a day off no matter what the reason. Maybe that person has paid vacation days that they need to use up anyway, maybe it is easy for the person to just switch a shift with someone else, or maybe it doesn't really matter which hours the person works as long as the person spends the appropriate number of hours on it and gets it done in time. Yes, the statement itself also assumes that everyone has the same sort of work situation - which is rather ridiculous.

Gosh, so much misinformation in this thread.

- Diablo is NOT an MMO, it never was and never will be.

- There is absolutely NO guild/clan support in the game, and there's definitely no need to belong to any guild to get the best gear.

-Unlike MMO, this game is perfect for a casual player, there are no raids, you play when you want to.

- You can group with other players but you don't have to have a group to beat the game. The game is entirely soloable.

As you can see, I'm a big fan of this game, I've been waiting for it for 10 years.

You need to look up the definition of an MMO. Not only is Diablo a MMO it was one of the first.

Looks like you should take your own advice.

MMORPGs are distinguished from single-player or small multi-player RPGs by the number of players, and by the game's persistent world (usually hosted by the game's publisher), which continues to exist and evolve while the player is offline and away from the game.

source

Diablo games do not have a persistent world. Each session generates a new world.
