Well, how do you fare compared to the Zeitgeist? Chat up your fellow wooters and let us know how lame this poll was or what obvious choices we missed. For example: Was this poll a) STUPID, b) DUMB, c) POINTLESS or d) ALL OF THE ABOVE?

American Airlines. By a very long shot!

I'd much rather ride a cattle hauler like Southwest than be nickle and dimed to death on AA.

Can't believe Alaska isn't atop this list! Southworst may get you there cheap, but I'd rather pay a few dollars more for the comfort Alaska gives you.

Gotta give a big "Alo-HA!" to Hawaiian Airlines. Always pleasant flight attendants and a real gift for making the small indignities of modern travel "all better" by the time you take flight!

IV always enjoyed frontier for the cheapest and most pleasant flights.

I hate flying, but when I do fly, I try to use Frontier. Usually they do a decent job of things, and I appreciate how they use freshly laundered hankercheifs when gagging me to prevent my usual screaming fit when the plane takes off.

The obvious answer is NetJets.

I can't believe Southwest is actually on this list.

I just got a really cheap one way ticket to Albany for $130. All the others were about $500 rt or more than 1/2 that one way. Taking the train back.

Otherwise, I like Delta.

Being a fat man, I am curious to know which airline could I fly that won't charge me double for being the size of two people. Based on the tweets of Kevin Smith, I'm 90% sure Southwest is out of the picture.

Delta by a long shot. Used to like US Air first class until we arrived at the airport at 4am to be told that the flight was cancelled. Not to worry they were putting us on another flight that would arrive 5 hours late, we would have to fly for 2-1/2 hours in the wrong direction, and they were terribly sorry but first class was sold out so we would have to sit in coach. And because my lower leg was in a cast; they were sure that with the help of a few flight attendents they could figure out a way to get my leg under the seat in front of me!!! I gave all my US Air miles to a friend. No way that I will fly with them again.

All Nippon Air or ANA will always be the best.
Why you ask? Because of just a few reasons...

One: The flight attendants actually compete to get in the job. They have to be pretty. They have to be very good at customer service and they have to be super smart. It is one of the best Jobs that a Japanese woman can hope to get. They get to fly everywhere and they have amazing pay.

Two: Leg room. It's way more than the US versions of cattle haulers.

Three: Safety. Lower number of crashes and higher standards of safety mean better chances of getting to your destination.

Four: Entertainment. you get your own screen to do whatever you want with. play games watch the plane take off, watch movies that just came out this quarter. oh and you can rewind and pause them too.

Five: The food. The chicken is actually chicken. Looks like it, tastes like it and even smells like it. Not that crap they processed six times and mashed together at high pressures and then call it chicken.

Last but not least number Six: Pikachu: Mothereffing pikachu on a mothereffing plane.

Oops I thought we were doing out of all airlines not just 3star or less...
its not fair to compare a 4 star to a couple of 3 and 2 star airlines

I think some people do not understand the question. :-/

For the most part, it isn't the airlines per se that are aggravating; it's the damned TSA ass rapers "protecting our skies".

Fer gods' sake, are you serious? TSA is just the fun before the flight even begins. Before you board you get nickel & dimed on seat choice, checked luggage, the whole exciting boarding process, etc. Once you board any domestic carrier, you generally get old rude stewardess (oops sorry - flight attendants), narrow seats, crappy in-flight food & beverage, etc. Not to sound like a cranky old bozo, but it was better back in the day, and I'm not talking 1965. I'd say that we get what we pay for, but even first- or biz-class is pretty crummy any more.

To answer the question, personally I like JetBlue for cattle-car domestic flights, and most of the Asian carriers for international flights.

After a few rough flights I have sworn off commercial flying.

My boyfriend is a pilot and an airplane mechanic... I much prefer a little Cessna to the big airlines. It's the way to travel: the views are amazing and I get to actually fly the plane

Can I change my response? I picked Jet Blue before I read "I hate them all". I've had my flights canceled with ZERO assistance to get me where I need to go several times. I've had my luggage lost several times...one time BOTH on the way to my destination AND back! Are you kidding me??

I do not like any of them anymore and I "fly" with my motor home - no lines, passengers can get up and walk around; make a sandwich.
Of course, when I use the cruise control, I can join them!!! :-)

yeah, I get the meme - but anyway, yeah, that, when possible. We've pretty much got two choices - Frontier and United. In that scenario, any non-United choice looks great.

I've never had a problem with Delta. But if I could add one airline to this list it would be Alitalia. Really good food, really good service. Could use more leg room but hey, coach always could.

I try to avoid flying as much as possible. I have a metal knee and am guaranteed a "pat down" everytime I enter an airport. I set all the alarms off.
I don't have a favorite airline. When I need to go the 2,200 miles to Philly to see the in-laws, I drive.

I'm afraid I can't agree with all the Frontier fans - their seats are the most uncomfortable and I'm not THAT big of a person. I don't understand why they always insist that you should have a ridiculously short connection time. I like getting there fast, but I don't like getting off my half-empty first flight, which landed EARLY, and finding that I am already being paged for my connecting flight which is at the far, far, at least 20 minute walk end of the terminal. Good thing I didn't have to use the facilities.

Virgin by far.
Legroom, Movies/TV/Videogames on demand for every seat, friendly staff.

Southwest is the cheapest, but it's a cattle car.

turbineman

Southwest is the most aggravating, the way they load the planes is the worst ever! Unless you pay more, or are a million mile flyer, all there is left when you finally board from their cattle line up, are center seats! I don't fly Southwest no matter how cheap the ticket!!!

Most of the time I'm pretty happy with southwest. Its always luck of the draw with flight attendants, but I frequently get fun ones that crack jokes and do silly things. Once, at take off, I think they might have done it a little more steep than usual and the flight attendant dumped out the entire basket of peanuts at the front of the plane and they just slid all the way down the aisle. Reach your hand out and catch! When I've flown other airlines the flight attendants usually seem a little more stiff and formal. Things like meals (vs a measly bag of pretzels)in flight, movies, , etc.. its all nice.. but not worth the price difference. For my whole family to fly, a $50 price difference quickly becomes a $200 price difference. For that cost, we could get a portable dvd player, a couple brand new dvds, overpriced airline food to carry aboard, and still have money leftover. Not to mention not having to pay to check bags!

Last time I flew UAL, the flight attendant sat in the "jump seat" her head down the entire flight. She payed no attention to the passengers the whole time. I thought she was praying. When I got off the plane I glanced in her seat and saw what had her attention. A crossword puzzle magazine.

I have only flown Lufthansa twice, but there were a head above all the other airlines I had flown. Very friendly folks and seemed to go the extra mile for all the passengers.
